What's for Sunday Lunch/Dinner in your house?

Our oven needs a new thermostat which I'm hoping to get sorted this morning (have bought replacement) so am looking forward to a full roast as we've not had one for ages now.
I've not been shopping yet so haven't yet decided what to go for.

What's on your menu today?

I'm at work so a cheese roll. DH usually cooks later on a Sunday, usually something with rice! Still, nice not to have to cook immediately on my return after being on feet all day.

Roast gammon and root veg. It’s definitely autumnal here, rainy and cloudy all weekend.

Podsandpeas · 17/09/2023 10:12

Leftover homemade chicken curry.

It is unseasonably warm here in Sydney, it hit 31 today so DH is just firing up the bbq for dinner and I have made the potato salad that everyone loves.

longtompot · 17/09/2023 10:30

Baked coke boiled ham with veggies. I'm trying to decide whether to do roast potatoes or Nigellas dauphinois potatoes but will be doing broccoli and cauliflower with a mustard sauce, Vichy carrots and green beans

SpecialSpaghetti · 17/09/2023 15:41

Updating to say the thermostat replacement was successful and a pork with crackling joint is currently roasting away 😄
We wanted chicken initially but by the time I got around to the shops there was not much left!
Also have the ingredients for a pavlova so that will make the DCs happy.

Enjoy your meals everyone, they all sound delicious.

This thread inspired me - just watching the football and then I’m going to make roast beef, roast potatoes, honey and nigella seed roasted carrots, cheesy leeks, stuffed baked onions in bacon, yorkies, cabbage and green beans! Cannot wait!

WhateverMate · 17/09/2023 15:47

DH did us roast chicken, sausagemeat stuffing, roast potatoes, peas, carrots, yorkshire pudding and gravy.

I'm now in a food coma and can hear the dog licking the floor where I dropped a gravy covered pea 🙄

Jambalaya

Ragwort · 17/09/2023 15:53

Ostryga not sure I can do a link but it's basically cooked new potatoes, bacon lardons and a dressing made with sour cream, chopped spring onions and Roquefort cheese (although I am using danish blue as it's what I've got in the fridge). From this month's Easy Cook mag.

Beef, carrot and potato stew with crusty bread.

Peridot1 · 17/09/2023 15:59

Beef Rendang and rice here today. DH has it cooking away in the oven and it smells yum.

NonMiDispiace · 17/09/2023 16:05

@Moredarkchocolateplease venison casserole here too, I made it in the slow cooker yesterday so it’s nicely matured overnight, with roast parsnips, mash, broad beans and peas.
No pudding because I cba, there’s plenty of fresh fruit, ice cream etc in the fridge/freezer.

Berryblondie1 · 17/09/2023 16:09

Roast chicken, roast tatties , roasted carrots, cauliflower cheese and peas. Yorkshire puds, and gravy. Choc cupcakes for pud x

HarrietofFire · 17/09/2023 16:09

Roast duck legs in red wine sauce with mash and chunky carrots. Never done it before but the duck legs were on offer and I'm going to drink the left over wine

Fifthtimelucky · 17/09/2023 16:11

I don't usually do a roast Sunday lunch these days but did today as we were joined by daughter and her boyfriend.

4 of us had roast lamb with the last jar of the mint jelly I made last autumn. The other one (vegan) had a Wellington made with leeks, mushrooms, pine nuts and lentils.

For pudding it was apple crumble and custard for 3 of us. The other 2 had a layered vegan "ice cream" loaf.

DinnaeFashYersel · 17/09/2023 16:11

Spag bol

Inextremis · 17/09/2023 16:12

Roast chicken stuffed with a bulgar wheat, preserved lemon, dried apricot, mint, parsley, coriander, chilli flakes and garlic stuffing
Fondant potatoes (I hope, it's my first time making them)
Broccoli, carrots, cauliflower
Gravy
Maybe Yorkies - I wouldn't usually do them with chicken, but DH loves them so much, so it would seem mean not to.

No pud, we never have room for it!

DinosApple · 17/09/2023 16:24

Vegetable curry and rice, I can't be bothered to make chapattis today though.

Faz469 · 17/09/2023 16:35
