Right so it’s being described as Baroque because whoever is writing it is from the 18th century and can’t figure out how to upload the story

Zelda Perkins at 1:13 on world at 1 radio 4 explains very clearly why this is all the right course of action.

They've (journalists and any involved) have whistle blown to their and RB's employers here.

He's still mainstream media as well as 6m followers on social media.

Alice went to his management and lawyers; they ignored.

Brand used legal threats a lot.

Perkins explains how legal processes are used by those in power to silence.

So you use the platform of free speech and actually, the growing transparency of some media companies who are now holding themselves to account

@WinterDeWinter I met a young woman in the early 2000s as part of my work, Savile licked all the way up her bare arm (she was wearing a short sleeve shirt as part of her uniform, and he pretended to kiss her hand first) in front of all her colleagues and the public at a work event he was officially opening, and of course everyone just pretended not to notice.

That is very interesting as I worked with someone and Savile did the exact same thing to my colleagues wife, in public, at a (very professional, none show biz) function with her husband stood next to her. The husband was the one that told me about it. This would have been in the mid 90's

The husband was an intelligent, well respected man in his field. I got the impression he and his wife were just so amazed they said nothing and Savile walked on.

It makes me feel queasy just thinking about it 😳

I think the DM are hanging onto this story but no one seems too interested now.

what are you basing that on?

Wishful thinking?

It's the major news story everywhere I look.

The Times has got about 12 pages of coverage today - most of it repetition of yesterday’s.

I see that a woman has now reported Brand to the Met regarding an alleged assault from 2003.

I’m really pleased to see that. She’s not one of the original four complainants so there’s a faint hope her case might get to trial, even better if more come forward.

I've also read of another woman saying the same, maybe her if she'd commented on it elsewhere, but it seems to have been something of a signature move of Savile's.

LaaDeeDa321 · 18/09/2023 17:23

I know that a mumsnetter was asking about where to go with a complaint. If this fresh complaint relates to her or anyone else who is reading this please know we are all right behind you.

WarriorN · 18/09/2023 17:40

A woman who is under an NDA for someone working in tv at the same time as Brand's height.

Interestingly, the Mail refers to five other comedians mentioned as predatory in a WhatsApp group but says that their claims have not yet been legally verified.

That fits in with the gossip site references on Friday/Saturday to a group of famous comedians and a 'big story'.

I hope there will be a fair trial for this at least, although there will have to be enough evidence for the CPS to take it on.

Annoyingly the case with the most evidence is probably the rape alleged in the documentary - there is a text from RB apologising and medical records - but as that was aired in the documentary first that will probably not be able to go to trial.
