Right so it’s being described as Baroque because whoever is writing it is from the 18th century and can’t figure out how to upload the story

I haven’t rtft so apologies if there are similar comments, but the amount of people (Men and women) sticking up for him on my facebook is shocking. One particular charming friend of a friend has compared him to the poor man that is Andrew Tate and how they are just men being attacked for their views and opinions.
I may just have to delete Facebook rather than get into debates with these morons.

The defence of rapists seems to have been successfully folded into modern right-wing culture-war politics.

Likely why Brand has suddenly pivoted in his politics, he knew something was likely to come out.

Buffypaws · 16/09/2023 22:18

@Cornishprincess yes, if i had to work I’d def get everything done the night before. last time I was working and it took me five days. Absurd. I never spent more than
one on a first go at a Harry Potter.

See with the comedian talking now... This is what we need more of. Men taking a stand against it. Men ex-normalising it.

Of course, naturally. 100%.

He's got a huge following, was in Death on the Nile last year and is literally performing tonight in a 2000 seats theatre.

He's not the nobody people on here want to make him to be (weirdly enough, it's the same "I am not a conspiracy theorist buuuuuut..." crew)

i guess my feeling is more like ok, he might still have a huge following but it mostly consists of conspiracy theorist lunatics and alt right fan boys - but are any of them going to be swayed by this documentary or are they going to buy his spin that the establishment are after him because he speaks the ‘truth’*?

*obvs I don’t think he speaks the truth 😂

Classic Corrie is currently showing a storyline on ITV3 from 2003 where Martin Platt aged 36 is having a full relationship with Katy Harris aged 16.

And the teacher (32) who had a full, long term relationship (five years) with me (16) - is still teaching. The relationship was well known about locally but he's never struggled to get a job. I know it's a cliche, but things really were different in the past... and very different, in the not-so-long-ago past.

Cornishprincess · 16/09/2023 22:20

@Buffypaws last one was August! I was on holiday.
Fingers crossed it lives up to expectations. It will!

Theyspunawebforme · 16/09/2023 22:20

So is this who the comedian Katherine (forgot last name) was talking about?

OneFrenchEgg · 16/09/2023 22:29

Katherine Ryan

Finlesswonder · 16/09/2023 22:31

I've never heard of this comedian but she has just posted this on Twitter

Gross. "Other women didn't act as I did so they're just lying liars."

blissno · 16/09/2023 22:35

"It didn't happen to me so it must not have happened to you!!!"

Why are people derailing this thread wanking on about Glinner and Richard Ayoade, who AFAIK are not rapey fuckers?

Consensual sex is more distasteful than rape? Really?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/09/2023 22:40

The women on this are very brave, articulate and credible.

Agree.

Am not a fan of trial by media but think there are probably far BIGGER names whose behaviour towards women have been kept quiet!
And then where do you start 🤷‍♀️

Totaly · 16/09/2023 22:40

5 woman he worked with - came forward

5 woman a day at one point sleeping with him? Even if 1% claim assault - that’s a lot of woman.

I think he’ll say he was high on drugs and can’t remember.

topnoddy · 16/09/2023 22:40

Has Brand been convicted of rape by the media circus jury then ?

UnconventionalLife · 16/09/2023 22:43

I found that whole programme v odd. And agree. Why has Dispatches not involved the police at this stage?

GatoradeMeBitch · 16/09/2023 22:43

I think he’ll say he was high on drugs and can’t remember.

He's been prepping his defense for a few years - he is a truth teller for the righteous right (the ones most likely to embrace pervs as long as they like what they're saying), and the evil left wants to silence him. I wondered why the abrupt 180 degree change came out of nowhere. That's why.

GatoradeMeBitch · 16/09/2023 22:45

Why has Dispatches not involved the police at this stage?

A case went to court and brand managed to get a super injunction because of it. Dispatches may not legally be allowed to say what they're saying, which might be why it was announced so late. The fines they get will be worth it.

biscuiteer · 16/09/2023 22:45

To the many posters who minimised what or who this programme could be about as just this or that, that sexual assault would not be a big enough deal, or everyone knew RB was a creep, was that enough for you?

I thought I'd wait until the programme finished and I had watched it before I posted, to say anything about it, although speculating is totally expected and I read the threads I kept seeing posts that were simply depressing viewpoints from women and men who were really minimising abuse. What has happened to us that we need worse than this?? These alleged assaults were not long ago, they sounded convincing and well researched to me, and I really am in awe of how brave the women in the programme are. If WE don't see it as grotesque and devastating, what are we saying to victims -and perpetrators?

lljkk · 16/09/2023 22:46

i've only heard the name before not seen a pic of the guy before.

He does look alarming.
I gather he is a stand up comic & presenter?

Seems to be very famous judging by MN reactions tonight.
I will continue to hide all the threads about RB and wait patiently for the interest to blow over.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 16/09/2023 22:46

Ikeepmybumcheekshidden · 16/09/2023 21:39

It is. It doesn't make sense to me.

As somebody who has been sexually assaulted, I don't believe a word of it. It just isn't ringing true to me.
Don't get me wrong, I can’t stand Russell Brand. Can't stand him! So this isn't a case of denial or anything, I just don't believe it. It smacks of a huge vendetta met with a bandwagon of women with scores to settle.

Also, if anyone had done enough to fill a 90 min documentary with evidence then how on earth has there been no arrest? Not even any questioning? Not one of them went to Police?

Don't you fucking dare. has Honestly look at yourself

Whathappenedto · 16/09/2023 22:47

Aaahhhh I missed the last 10 minutes because my son had a nightmare, and it's not on catch up. Did it cover anything worth mentioning?
