The biggest news story of the year is about someone who has already written books about all the stuff he has done. I will be surprised if Dispatched can say one thing I didn't already know.

@Noicant

Well, if that’s all there, especially those text messages, then Brand will be going to jail, no two ways about it. But forgive me if I am only fully convinced when this claimed evidence is presented and accepted before a judge and jury - as opposed to ”this stuff has been seen exactly as reported by the Murdoch press”

The rape that he apologized for my text occurred in the US. I doubt he’ll be extradited there to face trial.

Do you understand that testimonials are evidence?

Your posts about rape victims are really sickening.

👏👏👏👏👏

He's always given me the ick...gives off the slimy scumbag vibe

To add to your post superfood, the times article makes it clear there were witnesses as well

Why would "the powers that be" be shutting him I
up?

He's completely insignificant. He only has 6.6M subscribers on YouTube, that's around 10% of UKs population. When you look at how many actually watch his videos, it's MUCH less. Usually somewhere from 500k to 1M.

So he is a small fish. Whatever narcissistic nonsense he spouts is irrelevant to truly powerful bodies. He's nothing.

So why would channel 4 and the Sunday times really care to "bring him down". They wouldn't. That's the reality.

He's a fraud in all aspects of life and it's coming out.

He clearly acted dispicably and he needs to be held accountable. He will obviously try to worm him way out as he has for years but luckily it won't be easy this time.

Bye Russell.

@Superfood Ok, good to know. Did it not concern anyone at the time?

Apparently not. Just like no one was bothered that Dannii Minogue said in a press interview that he was a "vile predator" who chased her down a corridor and "wouldn't take no for an answer".

The programme tonight is called In Plain Sight. It's clear why.

Is there a particular reason that you are so keen to discredit rape victims' testimonies and journalists' investigations?

ScribblingPixie · 16/09/2023 20:24

Aside from Brand, this part of the article is dreadful: "Daniel Sloss was the only comedian willing to speak on the record and using his real name....
Sloss says that female comedians have set up online groups that they use to warn each other of comedians and others working in the comedy industry who they have had unpleasant experiences with, including predatory behaviour." I really hope this investigation isn't ending with Brand, it's seems like comedy is an industry that needs taking apart.

Lawyers on both sides will have been all over this for days before this was published. So many journalists have their work denied publishing/broadcasting because the lawyers kibosh it. They must have some pretty rock solid evidence to be allowed to publish and broadcast this. It has been said previous attempts at this have been dismissed by lawyers and obviously the journalists have kept digging, kept getting irrefutable evidence for this to be green lighted for broadcast.

All women should be believed.

@ScribblingPixie the rumours last night were that 5 high profile comedians are going to end up exposed and that women in the industry have been warning each other for years has known for some time. So, hopefully, this is the start of exposing the scum that exist within it.

What the hell is wrong with you.

Do you think all rape requires so much physical force that it shows up in underwear ie tearing?!

I think you're wrong. A PP said this story would close down his YT channel and I thought what nonsense. After reading the article, I'm thinking they'll take it down for sure. They took down many videos and even channels during lockdown for the most laughable things. RB has always deliberately tiptoed around what is acceptable to say to stay live. I believe this is why they needed THIS investigation. His public life is over.

He won't be thrown off the right wing channels such as Rumble. This will increase his views and earnings if anything.

@Superfood I will watch the programme and try to understand how this interview was not investigated. You assume I am trying to discredit, but I am trying to understand. No, a story in the paper with anonymous interviews is not sufficient for me as the whole story. Like a lot of people I want to know the whole truth and how it was arrived at.

What?

This woman didn't go and have an intimate medical examination, have evidence frozen and spend 5 months in therapy just for shits and giggles Hmm

Personally I have a big problem with a woman who gets raped and instead of going to the police she goes to the media, even worse when it’s the Murdoch media. If this goes to trial (which I hope), and he gets convicted for sex crimes I’ll be glad to have one less sexual abuser of the streets, in the meanwhile I’m taking this “trial by
media” with a large pinch of salt.

No, I mean if they're happy to share it with channel four, why haven't channel four taken it to the police, and if they have, why hasn't anything been done?

I do understand why they didn't report it at the time.

It concerns me that that the police don't appear to have been involved at all. If C4 are not careful it will have "the tide" turning towards him for trial by media and undermine the whole thing for the victims.

@henlee
MN has been seen as a politically influential platform for a fair while now.
Hence the amount of troll accounts supporting all sorts of nonsense, including rapist Brand.
The 'Mumsnet biscuit question' genuinely gets focus-grouped now.
(McVities digestive, obviously)

Don’t be such an idiot - it’s custard creams every time.
