The biggest news story of the year is about someone who has already written books about all the stuff he has done. I will be surprised if Dispatched can say one thing I didn't already know.

He has achieved some impressive things. He also has had some crackpot views - see Thailand Cave Rescue.

Howard Hughes was also a genius.

The clever ploy for any rapist and/or abuser in this day and age is to start bashing ‘cancel culture’ and the main stream media. Then, when the allegations come out, they’ve already cultivated an army of defenders who will happily believe that it’s all some sinister plot.

I said this earlier , it's infuriating as it's very culty behaviour it seems its very difficult to persuade people they have maybe been dupped.

Sorry, if there is evidence the police should have been involved. Why now? Why so long after? I’m truly sorry should these peoples’ stories be true but I just feel that smoke is not enough reason to destroy people. If there was a case the police should have pursued it.

This viewpoint doesn't make sense. If the "powers that be" suddenly decided he must be silenced, there are effective ways of doing so. This hasn't stopped him talking or making videos and it's very unlikely it ever would. If a trial was to happen, it wouldn't be for ages, he's not going to be imprisoned or have his laptop taken away in the meantime...

This won't stop him pushing out content, it won't stop his supporters consuming it (indeed it just makes them support him more).

I just wish people would stop and think before blindly defending him and those like him.

I think you're wrong. A PP said this story would close down his YT channel and I thought what nonsense. After reading the article, I'm thinking they'll take it down for sure. They took down many videos and even channels during lockdown for the most laughable things. RB has always deliberately tiptoed around what is acceptable to say to stay live. I believe this is why they needed THIS investigation. His public life is over.

What does a man ‘addicted to sex’ do to satisfy his desires?

RB knows better than most that any addiction can lead to destructive acts. He also knows - because he is a 12-stepper - that the addict has to take responsibility for what they’ve done and face the consequences. As a 12-stepper he should make amends by fessing up, although I imagine that he and his sponsor will use the escape route of not wanting to injure his wife and children.

The glazed look two women separately describe is disassociation, isn’t it? I don’t know much about it so hope someone who does will come along and explain.

I agree it will be helpful if the programme shows evidence. The accounts are distressing and I certainly recognise the types of behaviour shown by abusive men. It's not uncommon. But I would like to know how they obtained a transcript of a phone conversation between Savile and Brand. Also, I understand one woman did go to the police so if there was a physical examination perhaps that would give more detail. Presumably the doctor would have kept records too.

Transcript of a conversation? It was an interview broadcast on the radio and still available online ffs.

I suppose if you've been enjoying his videos over the last year you're already doing a passable impersonation of a conspiracy theorist and so it comes as no surprise that you would imagine this was a coordinated attack against this fine man of unblemished reputation.

He's been accused by multiple women of rape and coersive behaviour for God's sake - which, frankly, comes as no surprise to anybody who was aware of him early on in his career. What is surprising - nay shocking - is the number of people here prepared to say of this alleged rapist, Poor Russell, it must be a coordinated attack against him. 🙄

Twitter certainly won't, not with Elon at the helm, Rumble/Odeessee and all the others will want his content even more.

Nothing to stop him self publishing another book etc.

Surely “quite convincing testimonials” are only convincing to the extent that they chime with existing concrete evidence. On its own it is just a claim. We will see what concrete evidence Dispatches provides.

The article states that the woman has shared a full copy of her medical records with The Times, 'which state that she provided her underwear and other samples as evidence, which were frozen'.

Well, if that’s all there, especially those text messages, then Brand will be going to jail, no two ways about it. But forgive me if I am only fully convinced when this claimed evidence is presented and accepted before a judge and jury - as opposed to ”this stuff has been seen exactly as reported by the Murdoch press”

Have you read all of the Times articles?

Have you ever been sexually assaulted or raped, but not reported it to the police?

Unfortunately I can answer yes to both of those. And I don't find it at all difficult to understand.
