The biggest news story of the year is about someone who has already written books about all the stuff he has done. I will be surprised if Dispatched can say one thing I didn't already know.

Ffs it’s behind a paywall.

I wouldn’t really call RB an A list celebrity

Here's a share token, hope it works.

iamwhatiam23 · 16/09/2023 16:34

As I've said before RB loves a lawsuit so they must have some pretty damaging evidence against him to go public with this! He's an odious creep!

peachypudding · 16/09/2023 16:37

That Times article is utterly damning.

Another trial by media. This should never be allowed. Have they learnt nothing from the people who have been treated like this and ended their lives? Just horrible and cruel.
What is wrong with people that they can make these programmes, trying to destroy others.
My daughter was hounded to her death and the reporter at her inquest said he was reporting it as ‘it was in the public interest’.
I hope everyone boycotts this programme.

A 16 yo gets raped and her rapist is the person you feel sorry for and worried about?

beatrix1234 · 16/09/2023 16:42

How about continuing this thread in a couple days once there is evidence? This “trial by media” needs to stop. In the meanwhile this is smoke and mirrors, an organised attack by a certain news group that we’re all falling head, sink and hook for. Unbelievable how gullible MN’etters are.

"Money laundering through movies" is the only bit that would come as news to me.

This always makes me laugh. The truth is that there is a very tax advantageous investment vehicle that supports the British Film Industry. It is controversial as it treats this investment a bit like early stage “risk”
capital which some pepple don’t think is justified. . However, it is legal and has been around for decades- I remember going to an interview for one of these funds around 2005/6. It’s not that well known- you’d need a switched on IFA and fairly deep pockets to consider it- and many of the supporters are people in the film business. However it’s not money laundering unless the money they are investing is the proceeds of a crime, which is a completely different issue

The 16-yr-old hasn't accused him of rape. She's accused him of sexual and emotional abuse.
I think it's important we use the terms she has obviously agreed with The Times.

That is not what is being said. Why would a public trial be good for the 16 yo either? You think that girl is not being exploited by the media somehow and it’s in her best interest? Yes. The individual needs justice. But this is not the way to go about it. Penny dreadful headlines.

For those who spout ‘go to the police’, spend five minutes on google and look up the tiny prosecution rate for sexual offences in this country. After you’ve cleared that hurdle, then there’s the even smaller conviction rate.
Look at the Kevin Spacey trial, several legal commentators were impressed by the strength of evidence and multiple alleged victims came forward. It wasn’t just’ he said/he said. He was found not guilty.
Trial by media is likely the only measure of justice survivors of sexual assault have left against men who are immeasurably richer and more influential than they are.
dismissing that rape is pretty much legal in England and Wales right now, especially if the perpetrators are famous, is a slap in the face to the women and men who live with the aftermath every day. Would you really advise your child or best friend to go to the police with things as they are. And what if the police don’t want to know, do they just shut up and go away?

She was 16 in the early 2000s. She's much older and married now according to the article.

The 16 year old girl is a now a 33 year old woman.

There's a lot of very disturbing accusations in this article but to be completely honest it's exactly how I imagined Russell Brand would act away from the camera (he was bad enough on it).

I hope at least some of it is pursued by the authorities. One woman did go to the police and had a rape kit procedure. So there is evidence, however that was in the US according to the article.

ICanBuyMyOwnBooks · 16/09/2023 16:56

The difficulty with this thread going forward (and which will probably cause it to be deleted) is that posters are commenting who haven't read the article. And because of that they're conflating and confusing the stories. It's disrespectful to the women involved to spout opinions when you haven't taken the time to actually read what they have said.

User342465662 · 16/09/2023 16:57

The article is horrifically graphic, surprised they didn't include a trigger warning with it.

Pretty certain that RB's Youtube channel will get shut down fairly soon. So if there are any journalists reading this, take all the screengrabs and download videos now before they are gone.

Google have very low tolerance for right wing conspiracy nutters and most creators in that genre get pushed off the platform eventually. They haven't banned his content so far because it doesn't directly breach any guidelines but they will definitely cancel him after this expose.

Well said. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? People these days act like packs of wolves sadly.

Legoroses · 16/09/2023 17:00

Wow. That article. Like the FT article about Crispin Odey, what strikes you is that lots and lots of so-called professionals didn't just turn a blind eye, but facilitated these men having continued access to more vulnerable young women. And loads of people knew and did nothing for year after year after year.

And don't come here and pretend that men raping women is a made-up spectre of the entirely mythical 'deep state'. Have you been to a council meeting? Made a representation to a select comt or a junior minister or ever tried to engage in democracy in a useful way? Or do you watch endless YouTube videos prescribed for by an algorithm which wants your eyes for advertising - but you think you're free? Fuck off to the far side of fuck, and then fuck off some more.

Mothership4two · 16/09/2023 17:01

After all the hype I am expecting it to be several "celebrities" although not sure if they will go so far as to name and shame them? Maybe the programme is about the toxic culture around some of these comedians?
