Just been announced in Daily Mail - shocked me to be honest. Always thought they were solid and made to last!

OP posts:

Maybe it's her, not him.

Weenurse · 16/09/2023 02:14

I like Shame

Sugarcoatt · 16/09/2023 02:42

Oh this is very sad. I always respected him because he hadn’t done the usual “date a hot younger woman” thing. His relationship seemed very genuine.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/09/2023 03:03

I still don't get the swordsman reference. Is it a euphemism?

Speedweed · 16/09/2023 04:44

Apparently there are unofficially two things a Hollywood leading man cannot be. One is a smoker, the other is gay. HJ has always been known about, and it was once of the reasons he was passed over for the role of James Bond.

Another friend in the film industry who worked on one of his films confirmed he "shags everything", so not necessarily exclusively gay. Apparently he's also lovely to work with.

But yep, it was a lavender marriage. See also Michael Ball, and Prince Edward.

Dustyblue · 16/09/2023 05:44

Wait what- Prince Edward is gay?

pompomdaisy · 16/09/2023 05:47

Freddy Mercury loved his ex wife too very much.

Justleaveitblankthen · 16/09/2023 05:52

I always noticed how he seemed to shoehorn anecdotes to his fabulous wife and superb marriage into ever interview.
They would then show several photos of them all loved up together. Every time.
George Clooney is boringly the same yes, I'm jealous😂

While we're throwing random stories into the mix, Philip S 100% had an affair with his fellow Muti Colour Coat wearer who may or may not also be Australian back in the 90s.

I'm so glad I finally got to throw that one out there.

Ooh! This has made my weekend! 🤭

grayhairdontcare · 16/09/2023 06:00

I've just read dispatches will be about Russel Brand

Bluewitch · 16/09/2023 06:40

''@SoupDragon why do people think it's OK to make sweeping statements about someone's sexuality? It's just plain nasty.''

There is nothing 'nasty' about being gay...

It is not something to be ashamed of or something that people should feel the need to keep hidden.

Saying that someone is or might be gay is in no way a slur or an attack on their masculinity because there is nothing wrong with that sexual orientation.

I think this type of attitude is part of why some people still don't feel comfortable with being open about it. Because it implies the default setting should be that someone is heterosexual and that to assume anything else is an attack on their character/makes them less of a person....

I really wish we can reach a point where people's sexual orientation is no big deal.

Ramalangadingdong · 15/09/2023 22:19

You don’t have to say who, but will it be a juicy revelation or not?

In my opinion, not really. I mean, it's bad, but it's not someone we will be shocked to the core to learn is a wrong'un.

MargotBamborough · 16/09/2023 06:47

@Ramalangadingdong The correct name has been mentioned a few times on the big thread about it.

isthismylifenow · 16/09/2023 06:53

Meowandthen · 15/09/2023 21:28

He isn’t gay. He was a known swordsman before he married.

Being able to sing and dance doesn’t mean a man is gay. 🙄

Please come back and explain the swordsman relevancy.

seafronty · 16/09/2023 06:53

So much over investment in the lives of people you don't know, have never known, and will never know. Nothing you've seen in a magazine, an interview, or read online about them will ever be anywhere near real. He's hardly gonna say in an interview "yeah, she's OK, but she does my head in when she starts banging on about her Mum".

His penis is his sword. How is that difficult to understand, lol?

Kittylickingplate · 16/09/2023 01:31

Well there you go. I am going to pull out my VHS copy of 'Shame' and raise my glass to them.

Why have I never seen this! I love Australian films I mean this looks terrible but still!

Zonder · 16/09/2023 07:45

grayhairdontcare · 16/09/2023 06:00

Will anyone care? I mean does he even still exist?

Oblomov23 · 16/09/2023 07:59

No. Oh how sad. This is a shock. He always raves about her.

Pedallleur · 16/09/2023 08:27

Waiting for the would you shag Hugh Jackman as opposed to Russell Brand? thread.

Ginmonkeyagain · 16/09/2023 08:31

Urrhh no way would I shag Russell Brand - he looks like he smells of piss and joss sticks.

Mrsjayy · 16/09/2023 08:39

Oh god Russell Brand is repulsive! And I don't think I'm on Hughs bus tbf !

Sad news when any couple split

Is it? It’s just life, surely.

Mrsjayy · 16/09/2023 08:46

NarniaOrBust · 16/09/2023 08:40

Surely if you hear of a real life couple don't you even get a twinge of "oh that's a shame"
