Just been announced in Daily Mail - shocked me to be honest. Always thought they were solid and made to last!

You know, in the 'rich famous older person' situation where they 'remain good friends' I often wonder why they bother to divorce if there's not a 3rd party involved. Divorce is a nightmare no matter how 'cordial' you want to be. Much easier to just quietly start living separate lives. In a huge mansion you could probably go days without seeing each other.

Lord knows HJ and his STBXW have the dosh to just live separate lives. As an 'older woman' myself (not rich) I could certainly see myself doing that if I was rich and wanted to 'part company' with my spouse. "Darling, I'll go to the beach house and you stay here. We'll swap in 6 months or so."

The Ashton thing is probably because he and his wife wrote a letter to a judge Inthe case of one of their actor friends who raped 2 women to ask for leniency because he was a good man. Something along those lines.

Yep. Danny Masterson has been convicted of rape and Kutcher and Kunis had both written letters in his support. I've always found Kutcher's devotion to Thorn quite inspiring but I guess when you co-found a charity thats sole purpose is to help end sexual assault in minors, it's probably not the best idea to write a letter saying your rapist friend is a good guy really.

Lots of rumours that he is gay and in a long term relationship with another man and his wife knew and the arrangement suited her. Hard to know really I always thought those rumours were because people just couldn't fathom why a movie star would be with a much older woman although she was and is a beautiful woman. Look at Guy Pearce who always went on about how much he loved his first wife and how they didn't want kids then in his late 40's dumps her goes off with a younger woman and has a baby within a year.

I was also shocked when Noel Gallagher and his wife Sara split I always thought they looked so loved up in photos but you never really know, perhaps they were just good at putting on a show?

It could be the age gap, I have a friend who's wife is 14 years older than him, he is also 54 and while they are still together and have no plans to separate he says it is very difficult at times now and he is only able to cope because he works away much of the time, not very nice perhaps but I think it is his honest opinion.

Not upset, just a bit disappointed.
I don't like age gap relationships but liked that there was a hollywood actor married to an older woman. Didn't balance the scales at all but it was nice to see it go the other way and for him to adore her.
I loathe hollywoods obsession with youth.

It’s not “a case” though, isn’t it? I don’t care either way about his sexuality but my hairdresser used to party in the same scene (years ago) and said it’s common knowledge.

His previous production manager, John Palermo actually lived with him (and Deborah when she she was there), for years. They founded Seed together. The Aussie papers at the time of their split referred to the “ever flamboyant” Palermo.
