9/11 - what happened to the planes?

Thinking on from that awful day after the anniversary yesterday, one thought has come to mind.

What happened to the planes and those onboard, once they were flown into the twin towers? I know this probably does sound silly and I'm so sorry if it comes across as ignorant, but I truly do not know, and the internet doesn't mention anything, either..

Did they come to a crash landing afterwards? Or did they continue flying? What actually happened to the plane and those poor souls on board?

I think they just broke up into many pieces, everybody on board was killed.

How could anyone seriously think that a plane would crash into a skyscraper and then just continue flying?

Oh don't be daft, it's human interest to be curious when something so horrific happens. There are numerous programmes on the subject too.

The two planes that hit the twin towers became part of that debris afair. They didn't "come out the other side". This place in now a memorial to all.who lost their lives, including resuce workers.

Im.not sure about the other plane - it crashed I think, brought down by passengers in a non city location to save lives?

And the 4th plane landed, the terrorist takeover failed?

I really didn't mean this to be in poor taste, I truly didn't know what may have happened afterwards. By continue flying I don't mean ongoing as if nothing happened, of course that isn't the case.

I am genuinely sorry if I have upset anybody by this post.

I don’t think it’s in poor taste. I’m sure it has been widely covered in the news, but if your focus was on other aspects of it eg the rescue, or history of why it happened then it’s easy (and normal) to have huge gaps in your knowledge.

Plus, it was so long ago there are many adults who weren’t even born when it happened.

Tbf the poster apologized for asking, maybe they are young and don't remember? I mean to all of us who witnessed it live it was fairly obvious what happened 😔

Third plane crashed into the Pentagon.

Fourth plane crashed into a field after an attempted take over by passengers.

I was 2 when it happened, so no I didn't see the footage. I am actually asking as research for part of a case study I am working on. Not just for the hell of it, or because I want to know the morbid details. I am sorry again for asking. I just couldn't find any further information on this online.

Don't be sorry for asking a question and being curious. It might be in bad taste but how do we learn if we don't ask questions?

It sounds like you have heard about 9/11 but not really looked into it. Plenty of stuff online, along with videos if you want to see them.

It's not like Fast & Furious where they drive a sports car out off the window of a skyscraper, into and out of the next skyscraper etc. The planes broke up when they crashed into the buildings and caught on fire from the fuel. Absolutely awful way to die as the passengers would have known they were going to perish.

This thread will probably descend into a "where I was on the day". I was at home on a dial up.internet and saw footage of from a guy who had been in a cafe close by. Then the second hit and the tower collapsed and he ran back into the cafe and the dust cloud engulfed the street outside and he filmed it as it went past the cafe window.

I used instant messenger to chat about it with a mate that was online at the time. He didn't know and then went off to look at the news.
