Naked older man on bike

I went cycling yesterdat with DD in an area not far from our house that's usually busy with dog walkers and families cycling, loads of children around.

This older man was riding his bike completely naked, his 'thing' sticking out in full view. Luckily we passed him quickly as he was coming from the opposite direction and my 5 yo DD hasn't noticed as she was concentration on her cycling.

Then an hour later someone on FB posted a pics from around this area of another older naked man cycling in traffic (looks like a different man).

I told DH and he said I should have taken a pic of him and reported him as it's illegal to walk around naked in public. I'm not from this country so forgive my shock, but is this ok in the UK?

DH looked and apparently there is one in June.

These were 2 different men cycling alone.

Where I live in south London we had Jessie the infamous trans person who used to cycle and walk around with a see through bra and thong on complete with his willy and massive fake boobs on display.

He died last year but my DS saw him many times and never batted an eyelid.

It's your response that they follow. Just ignore and they will too.

Take a picture, post on social media, shout abuse to amuse yourself if you feel inclined, and then definitely report.

Dirty old men are not acceptable.

(Nb he may be practising for the naked bike ride, which runs through Brighton (there may be others), as the demographic for that is young pert women demonstrating they are 'empowered' and having a laugh with their mates, and every middle aged male perve within a 200 mile radius slobbering along videoing it from a low angle 🤮)

The police ime will say it’s not illegal. There’s a bunch of men who walk naked round the woods near me. Touristy woods , kids about. I’ve come across them unexpectedly when I’ve been on my own and it’s not nice. They say they’re naturists but it’s not a naturist area Or wasn’t

the police say it’s only illegal to be naked if the intention is to offend someone. If there is no intent there is no illegal act even if someone is offended.

so flashing is illegal but walking round with your dick out isn’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And then we recently had a thread where the OP was sunbathing topless and people were saying she’d be reported to the police for doing so…. And that it was unacceptable to show yourself off like this in your own back garden.

And yet when it comes to words you can be charged with a hate crime on the basis of perception without any requirement for intention to be proven.

It's actually not and it's a tricky thing to convict someone of indecent exposure. There's no law preventing anyone going for a wander down the street naked, although shops, pubs etc can set their own dress code and refuse someone admission.

If you're doing it with the intent to alarm and distress then it's indecent exposure. But if you're genuinely just going about your business there's no actual law against it.

I'd let the police know in case it's a pattern or someone who has previous, but from your post alone it's not clear that any offence has been committed.
