Just entered a competition to win a holiday + £15k. I’ve never ever won anything decent in a competition but also rarely enter any!

anyone had any good prizes or lottery wins?

NotFastButFurious · 08/09/2023 13:21

i won 2 flights once, it was only with easyjet but better than nothing!

Anjelika · 08/09/2023 13:22

Not me but someone I worked with back in the late '80's won a brand new car.

lap90 · 08/09/2023 13:40

I used to enter loads and used to do quite well - won 2 holidays, cash/giftcards and some high valued items e.g an iphone etc

Just don't seem to have the time these days.

MrsFairweather · 08/09/2023 13:45

A Miele washing machine thanks to Mumsnet Smile

Saverage · 08/09/2023 13:45

No, but I never enter anything. There used to be competition websites (I guess still are), I keep meaning to find a good one and just enter loads of competitions.

OctoblocksAssemble · 08/09/2023 13:48

Good as in valuable, no, but when I was 4/5 I persuaded my parents to enter a school raffle. I really wanted a set of bath salts (it was the 80's 😁). I did actually win something, but not what I wanted. Instead I was presented with a Teddy bear wearing a scarf and hat. After the initial disappointment he became one of my absolute favourites and is sitting in my bedroom right now.

TokyoSushi · 08/09/2023 13:49

£96 on the lottery, that was quite good!

coxesorangepippin · 08/09/2023 13:50

Sega Megadrive when I was 8

The stuff of dreams

Icycloud · 08/09/2023 13:50

I always assume that kind of thing is some kind off trick, so I don’t

CavalierApproach · 08/09/2023 13:50

I didn’t exactly win it but I replied to a product testing call-out email from SpaceNK last week (‘first 50 people to respond’ type thing) and thought no more of it. Then yesterday I got an email saying one of these is on its way to me:

😃

I just have to test it and post a review apparently.

An all expenses holiday to the Bahamas. It was at work, names out of a hat situation rather than a competition as such, but still was the best thing I've ever won. DP came too.

Oldandcobwebby · 08/09/2023 13:53

I have won an Austin Metro in 1985, a pile of classical CDs, and some expensive cushions.

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 08/09/2023 13:55

I never win big! But I do win fairly regularly.

so £500 on the local radio
helicopter flight for two at a local show
£150 worth of vouchers for a lovely clothing shop.
tickets to footy matches, Ice hockey and cricket.
afternoon tea delivery etc.
and tons of smaller ones.

I love the little buzz for getting something. It's really fab.

tinytemper66 · 08/09/2023 13:58

I won a free holiday to a gite in France. It rained every day but the gite and owners were great. The area was lovely.
We almost evacuated to a town hall but the water subsides.

Tarkan · 08/09/2023 14:00

I used to be really lucky and won competitions regularly. Mostly small things like DVDs or whatever.

My 3 best wins though have been £10,500 on The Chase, a 50CC motorbike from CD:UK when I was 18, and £998 at the bingo.

You can also blame the bingo for my marriage. 😁 I went out with a friend and my mum, we won something like £250/300 so went onto a pub after that for drinks and that's where I met my now DH.

Florin · 08/09/2023 14:03

A dyson hoover and a £1000 washing machine-thank you Mumsnet!
A rugby shirt for the team we support signed by the whole team.

QueenCoconut · 08/09/2023 14:03

Yes a 5 star, long haul holiday.
also a premium make up set worth £250

3girlsmama · 08/09/2023 14:06

A new Bosch boiler in an online comp & I'm still irrationally pleased about it a few years later 😄

rickandmorts · 08/09/2023 14:07

I recently won a free session with a local dog trainer. Was actually really good and learnt lots. My aunt won a years supply of Persil non bio but didn't want it so gave it to me. I was very happy with that too!

BeverleyMacker · 08/09/2023 14:12

A pair of Prince tickets. We were already going so gave them to friends.

OldTinHat · 08/09/2023 14:17

I won a £200 ferry voucher a few months ago. I was delighted as I live on an island with crazily expensive crossings to the mainland.

AffIt · 08/09/2023 14:26

I'm enjoying all of these stories, but I'm oddly particularly thrilled for the PPs who won really useful big ticket stuff, like the new boiler / washing machine / ferry crossing.

Jesus, I'm getting old. 😄

Ineedwinenow · 08/09/2023 14:29

I’ve won £2.50 in the euromillions and a free lucky dip in the lotto! Not bad for 20 years of playing

Life changing!!

CrispsnDips · 08/09/2023 14:42

one week’s holiday in a 5 star hotel in Aviemore, Scotland

perfect…😊

cocksstrideintheevening · 08/09/2023 14:46

£400 on the lottery which I thought was a bit pants for five numbers

A night in a swanky hotel with tasting menu in London

Dog food for a year

And a bottle of out of date Buck's Fizz from a school raffle. It was like a weapon, how it didn't explode before I got it home I don't know!
