Just entered a competition to win a holiday + £15k. I’ve never ever won anything decent in a competition but also rarely enter any!

anyone had any good prizes or lottery wins?

Oh and I've just remembered two tickets to micheal jackson at wembley when I was 11. Kriss Kross were the supporting act. I had no interest in MJ but 11 yo me jumped to kk!

Is there a competitions thread on MN? Maybe we should start one.

ZippingZebra · 08/09/2023 14:49

I entered a covid craft competition and won £500 and this year a radio competition and won a sunset cruise on a yacht! They are both pretty good for me but appreciate they aren't worth £15k!

My wedding dress! The bridal shop has entered every customer into their raffle, I hadn’t really taken any notice until they rang me to tell me.

Not me, but my grandad won a 2 week all expenses paid trip to S Korea, which he then said he couldn't go on because he was too old, so they upgraded his car instead. It was a car company holding the competition.

Flown to London and chauffeur driven to spend 5 hrs with Gok Wan...we spent the time cooking! ...he was lovely and friendly and we had a good laugh...

The Mumsnet Book Club years ago was great - you applied to get a free copy of the monthly choice, and also children' s books. Didn't win every month, but quite often, as the books were provided by the publishers to promote new novels, I guess. Wish they hadn't stopped it.

When I was younger I used to enter a lot of competitions. I won several nice-enough prizes - concert tickets, VIP concert passes, a box at the Royal Albert Hall (for one night only), Wimbledon and Ascot tickets, a chocolate making afternoon, a fish pedicure (when they were the rage), that sort of thing. I don't think I've ever won money outside the odd fiver in the lottery.

Nothing, if it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all

Araminta34 · 08/09/2023 14:59

Nothing much so far (a £10 Amazon voucher) but I have my eye on every one of the Omaze houses!

edwinbear · 08/09/2023 15:04

DH won £2.5k worth of wine once. That was a happy day!

movinghouse23 · 08/09/2023 15:05

Where do people enter these competitions? I've never won anything!

Pootle40 · 08/09/2023 15:06

Randomly this week I've been entering the Take A Break competitions and I normally enter some of the Sky VIP ones but never win anything

A weekend at Centerparcs from a parenting magazine

2 beauty competitions. First was as a teenager, second I was 22. But I didn't really get a physical prize, other than my face in a magazine.

SM4713 · 08/09/2023 15:10

Aged 7 I won a Mothers day vase at school from a raffle. It was 1st prize and I'd never won anything before.

My nan won a prize in the 1990's worth about £50,000 now. 2 mountain bikes, lagerfeld perfumes/aftershaves, a computer, games console and games, TV, CD player and lots more.

I’ve won £2.50 in the euromillions and a free lucky dip in the lotto! Not bad for 20 years of playing

Life changing!!

Oh this is me all over. Won £30 once after 20 years of playing 🙄🤨

robinsnest1967 · 08/09/2023 15:11

£250 garden centre vouchers for a poem I wrote courtesy of the Tesco magazine. I used them to buy Sunday lunch every week in the garden centre cafe so they lasted around 10 weeks.

PinkFootstool · 08/09/2023 15:14

Of note in the last 2yrs, a full set of chefs knives, a £1500 lastminute.com voucher, a cream tea box for two, theatre tickets, and I was supposed to have won a set of 4 bikes for a family but they recanted and said it was cinema tickets instead which was rubbish.

PinkFootstool · 08/09/2023 15:14

My husband's platinum and diamond wedding ring!

I won John Lewis vouchers for a couple of hundred pound from a 'comment on this thread and win vouchers' thing on mn. It was at a time in my life when we were really struggling, I got a couple of tops and a pair of trousers for work for me and then Christmas presents for dc. Won another one not long after where I got a Brio trainset! Those have been my two only competition wins in life.
