Just entered a competition to win a holiday + £15k. I’ve never ever won anything decent in a competition but also rarely enter any!

anyone had any good prizes or lottery wins?

Wishthiswasntthecase · 08/09/2023 17:19

Holiday to Disneyland Paris.

The most enjoyable thing I won was a ticket to the VIP area at Turnmills (a club in London) to see Pete Tong broadcast his Essential Selection radio show. It was an email-in to Radio 1, and I'm sure they chose me because they saw that I lived just around the corner from the club at the time. I had to go on my own - it was just the one ticket, which I thought was a slightly weird prize, but I didn't mind.

I won £275 in this month's premium bond distribution, which was better than normal - DP won £225, which is very good too.

I won a beautifully decorated cake in a raffle at a beautiful open garden near me. It looked amazing, like an allotment. Sadly it tasted of cement and sawdust.

doggybootcamp · 08/09/2023 17:23

I have won a few good things

  • £8000 at a Holiday park bingo
  • washing machine
  • weekend away
-White stuff gift vouchers

I don't even enter competitions often, I just seem to be lucky when I do!

ffsnotagainandagain · 08/09/2023 17:30

£1k on the postcode lotto

maltesermagnet · 08/09/2023 17:37

Two breaks to Bluestone, two years apart. Back when they used to be a lot quieter and used to do Facebook competitions to fill under occupancy.
Bumped into friends on the second trip and they'd won for the second time too.

Just looked at my emails today and I have won £100 John Lewis/Waitrose voucher.
Not won anything big really except a holiday to San Francisco a few years ago, that was my best.
Won a few other bits but fed up of winning footballs as nobody wants them; same for alcohol, nobody drinks any more.

Tebheag · 08/09/2023 17:45

🤣 Several pairs of irn bru logo socks.

CriticalAlert · 08/09/2023 17:46

You did better than me! I got 5 numbers and won £76. I thought it was a mistake and I phoned Camelot. I was arguing with them in the phone and saying that the chances of getting 5 numbers were the equivalent of 10,000,000 to 1; and that the lottery was a swizz....... 🤣

GasDrivenNun · 08/09/2023 17:50

In 1993 I won a weekend at the Amberley Castle Hotel. It would have cost £400 back then. Most memorable part of the weekend was DH putting bubble bath in the jacuzzi bath 🛁

MachinesOfGod · 08/09/2023 17:53

Yes, £1925 to spend in Boots Advantage Card Points.

I've got condoms and blister plasters for the rest of my life.

Lovelynames123 · 08/09/2023 17:59

I won a week's Twentys holiday for 2 in 2001 on my 21st birthday in a night club raffle, went to Gran Canaria.

My parents won a Mediterranean cruise in a raffle in the 90s, and my dad won £1k on the premium bonds in the 60s, so was obviously a lot of money!

Nothing in the last 2 decades though!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/09/2023 17:59

I won a tennis set in Asda in Telford (I think) when I was 6 or 7

Mamadothehump · 08/09/2023 18:05

A lovehoney advent calendar from this site 😂

honeyrider · 08/09/2023 18:14

I've won loads over the years but not much in recent years. One year back in the mid noughties I won around €20k, one prize was worth around €10K which was a big Sony tv, Sky HD box and a year's subscription to all the Sky channels when those tvs were very expensive, the other part of the prize was a holiday to Australia and the Blue Mountains.

The same year I won €3k worth of prize bonds, a number of hotel breaks, tickets to events, all sorts of things.

BathingBeauty · 08/09/2023 18:27

20 years ago I won 3 holidays in 3 years! Nothing so good since. I still enter, sometimes I win vouchers but that’s it these days. I think many more people enter these days.

wendywoopywoo222 · 08/09/2023 18:27

I won £50, a razor and a take a break watch from that magazine.

I've won tickets to see
white snake
Billy Joel
David Essex
Example
and a few others from our local radio station.

I have won an Austin Metro in 1985, a pile of classical CDs, and some expensive cushions.

Are you sure the Austin Metro was good?

Oldandcobwebby · 11/09/2023 16:28

@GasDrivenNun I was 22 - a free new car worked for me!

bookflea · 11/09/2023 17:35

Hundreds of things. Some really expensive holidays including experiences we couldn’t even have booked ourselves even if we wanted. A brand new huge camper van for a year (including petrol). Lots and lots of trips with hotels to amusement parks etc.
X-boxes. Many, many food items checks that would last for a year (meat, ice cream, ribs, salmon, butter, pizza). Cinema vouchers and snacks (lots). Cooking stuff. A chef cooking for me and friends at my house. Recently a luxury hotel of my choice including food and drinks (€1000). Suitcases packed with sweets or food. Cakes/biscuits for a year (twice). Four trips to indoor water parks incl hotel. Lots of smaller things. A nice bike.
I can’t remember them all tbh and most were years ago. But all of them motivating why I wanted to win, slogans, photo competitions. It wasn’t just luck (I hate when people said that), it was a thing I enjoyed and I did spend a lot of time thinking of what to write. I gave lots and lots of things away to friends including holidays.

bookflea · 11/09/2023 17:37

There are sadly not as many competitions now.

bookflea · 11/09/2023 17:38

Oh and many nice concert and theatre events, and going backstage on several tv shows and concerts!

Forgotmylogindetails · 09/10/2023 20:48

Where do you enter these competitions x

TootiiFrootii · 09/10/2023 20:56

A meal for two in a local gastro type pub and a huge bottle of cider. Both won in a local summer fete. Both were very much enjoyed.
