Escaped convict - Anyone else slightly fascinated by how he's escaping capture?

I don't know why but this has captured my imagination. Daniel Khalife escaped prison by clinging to the underside of a delivery van. Now I'm wondering when did he let go? Where did he hide? Is it like the fugitive where he hides in a hen house out house and steals a doctor's uniform from a hospital? Where would you hide if you had to? Where do you get food and water and shelter?

I don't know why I'm disappointed, but I am.

Chiswick with a Waitrose bag of groceries. 🙄

A Waitrose bag of food
staying in home area
Sounds like a middle class kid.

Why Waitrose- did it feel familiar and safe to him?
It’s also not cheap.
If he had a carrier, he possibly shoplifted it and the food though.

The cheapest carrier there is about 80p I think.

Clearly wanted his Mum.

Not a criminal mastermind.

Well Asda and Tesco usually have security guards on the door. Waitrose don't as far as I know.

Or maybe his DM was his 'help on the outside'

Seashellies · 09/09/2023 16:44

He did well to evade being caught for a few days, even more risky close to the scene really! It doesn't seem like he was being particularly tactical about it, he probably knew he'd be caught and thought fuck it see if I can actually get out of here. I wonder if it was more impulsive than meticulously planned?

Willmafrockfit · 09/09/2023 17:03

Northolt actually, pulled or pushed off his bike by a plain clothes police officer!
very strange.

Willmafrockfit · 09/09/2023 17:04

sounds like it wasnt planned

On a bike, with a Waitrose bag full of food and in Chiswick?

if Hyacinth Bucket ever did terror offences, thus will be how.

ha ha

Nolongera · 09/09/2023 17:31

I strongly suspect he is a bit of a Walt ( Walter Mitty) who went a bit mad and thought he could change the world, since they thought this, hence is why he was in a Cat. B.

He got lucky in no small part due to the every corner cut way successive governments choose to run prisons.

youngestisapsycho · 09/09/2023 17:32

So it wasn’t even Chiswick… canal path in Northolt 🤷🏼‍♀️

EasternStandard · 09/09/2023 17:33

I know nothing about his personality etc but could be someone who does impulsive stuff without thinking through consequences

Said ''Chiswick area of West London'' {earliest from Met police}

Easier way to annoy and upset everybody in Chiswick. Being associated with Northolt is really going to hurt.

oakleaffy · 09/09/2023 18:25

Still very close, only 13 miles from Wandsworth prison.
{He's no ''Rogue Male'' with his cat ''Asmodeus''}

But does Northolt have a Waitrose?

SquirmOfEels · 09/09/2023 18:42

I don't really think of Northolt and Chiswick as being neighbouring areas - there's all of Ealing between them. I wonder where they really mean - Northala Fields??

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 09/09/2023 18:43

oakleaffy · 09/09/2023 18:26

It'll hurt even more if Northolt did, in fact, have a Waitrose. What's the world coming to?

"Waitrose sits at 140 Northolt Road, a 0.99 mile driving distance south-west from the centre of Harrow, in South Harrow (not far from South Harrow Station). The store serves the patrons of Honeybun community, Greenhill, Rayners Lane, Northolt, Sudbury Hill, Harrow Town Centre, South Harrow and Harrow on the Hill."

oakleaffy · 09/09/2023 15:53

That was a fundamental error
They are always going to watch immediate family.
This lad is hardly SAS material.

or they had other intelligence but needed another way to use the intelligence to explain x

Willmafrockfit · 09/09/2023 19:17

Gabriella Lewis, from Chiswick, told BBC News she believed she briefly spoke to Mr Khalife as he sat on a bench in Chiswick House Gardens on Friday morning.
After commenting on the hot weather, she said he claimed he had just come out of the Army. She described him as gentle and sweet, and said he was affectionate towards her dog.

i heard about the national trust property as well
how peculiar

youngestisapsycho · 09/09/2023 20:03

Some news sites still say Chiswick some say Northolt 🤷🏼‍♀️

He's more mumsnet than most MNetters. Fucking embarrassing 🤣 he'll be getting the shit ripped out of him now by the rest of the cons.

My 9 year old who has been following this said 'at least he had a nice sandwich mummy".

Lelophants · 09/09/2023 21:27

This is honestly hilarious. So he basically just hung around london, going for a bike ride and sitting on a bench having a chat? Wondering if he’s ok as seems very odd.

Stressedafff · 09/09/2023 21:32

Wonder if that’s why he escaped. Maybe BidFood wasn’t delivering his usual Waitrose standard meals and he was absolutely rattling for a naice quiche
