Escaped convict - Anyone else slightly fascinated by how he's escaping capture?

I don't know why but this has captured my imagination. Daniel Khalife escaped prison by clinging to the underside of a delivery van. Now I'm wondering when did he let go? Where did he hide? Is it like the fugitive where he hides in a hen house out house and steals a doctor's uniform from a hospital? Where would you hide if you had to? Where do you get food and water and shelter?

He was a bit daft staying in the local area, I'd have gone North London or out or London asap.

Difficult without money
Although the old 'train toilets' trick worked well for me as a student back in the day

Willmafrockfit · 09/09/2023 14:00

i wonder how he supposedly got into the black vehicle?

Depends if they use drops for supplies etc

They've got him. He didn't go far 🤣

Or we only presume they have ?

Willmafrockfit · 09/09/2023 14:16

no they have, at just before 11 am

@Hawkins0009

Re ATC, monitoring airspace and spy exfil !!

"true but with that event who knows"...Well actually I do, albeit a tiny bit...

You're off at a complete tangent with that link, the ATC outage a couple of weeks back caused handling capacity problems with civil traffic, it didn't effect basic radar and airspace monitoring.

Forget the high value asset extraction Bond space age stuff, this is young signaller not far out of basic, possibly with access to cash (? family, friends) I reckon he either skipped the UK very quickly by commercial means (road, rail, air) or he's holed up somewhere.

Fair points,

Ah I see, I've not been briefed at the moment. Need to catch up

oakleaffy · 09/09/2023 14:28

Chiswick??

Well that really wasn't far at all. Seven miles.

Willmafrockfit · 09/09/2023 14:29

in some national trust area in chiswick

oakleaffy · 09/09/2023 14:30

I see he grew up near Richmond Park and police shut it off- ? He could have hidden in many places there that I know of, too - But expect everyone there knows of the hollow oaks and plantations &c.

Some poor OSG likely lost their job over this....he didn't do much with his freedom at all!

Certainly at a glance it looks like maybe he spotted an opportunity to get out, grabbed it, but he had no plan beyond that (and possibly no help).

Late to my own thread tut tut. Was busy cleaning and missed the news. I thought he'd evade capture for longer and have got further away to be honest. Just goes to show how surveilled we are these days.

to be honest society does need the ctos 2.0 system or the Samaritan system from person of interest.

reesewithoutaspoon · 09/09/2023 15:36

Aww I,m disappointed he didn't make a better effort than 7 miles away. He had 3 days.
They won't be turning that into a film then .
'Bloke escapes on food truck then bimbles around Chiswick for a few days,' not quite in the Escape from Colditz league

Willmafrockfit · 09/09/2023 15:43

the sun has shared a video of a bloke with a bike and sleeping bag, wearing a white shirt after his arrest

oakleaffy · 09/09/2023 15:48

A bike?!
he managed 7 miles with a bike?!
that’s shameful.
Even as a 17 yr old girl I could cycle 50 miles a day
He’d need food for that of course.
I’d have dyed my hair as well
maybe dressed as a woman
I think any of us could have done better than seven miles and “ Bimbling around Chiswick “

youngestisapsycho · 09/09/2023 11:31

He called his mum… so the police told friend on houseboat 🤷🏼‍♀️

That was a fundamental error
They are always going to watch immediate family.
This lad is hardly SAS material.

On a bike, with a Waitrose bag full of food and in Chiswick?

if Hyacinth Bucket ever did terror offences, thus will be how.

oakleaffy · 09/09/2023 16:08

A Waitrose bag of food
staying in home area
Sounds like a middle class kid.

Why Waitrose- did it feel familiar and safe to him?
It’s also not cheap.
If he had a carrier, he possibly shoplifted it and the food though.

The cheapest carrier there is about 80p I think.

Clearly wanted his Mum.

Not a criminal mastermind.

Exactly so.

Mumsnet had him in Tehran about 30 minutes after he escaped, courtesy of Iranian espionage agents... and he turns up in Chiswick 😂
