Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas divorce narrative

Just watching this unfold over the last few days starting with they were filing for divorce which happens to a lot of people, but noticed the narrative is moving towards how Joe has been looking after their children all summer, he tried to save the marriage and it's down to her partying and painting things quite negatively for Sophie Turner.

Obviously I have no idea what's going on with either side but does look like she's being portrayed as the villain here and him the good guy , I know this is probably a lot to do press spin on things. She's been working away in UK and it would be quite normal for him to 'parent' their children while she's away ( (and hardly qualifies for father of the year, just their father.)

He’s a silly little baby - the narrative he’s spinning so completely transparent and hopefully he will not get away with it in this day and age.

I hope ST is blasting Taylor Swift songs written about him. They don’t paint him in a great light either.

I have to say the culture clash of US conservative v Brit sprang to mind too. My friend moved to Indiana some years back and said it was more of a culture clash than when he lived in Saudi! He said he at least knew what to expect with Saudi, but he found red state America harder to adjust to. The whole settle down and never leave the house again/ do what your husband tells you mentality just doesn't stick with British women.

This smells of that.

The fact his photos with the kids are from backgrid, and he is incapable of being alone with 2 small children says it all to me. He's a performative parent, not an actual parent. He's hiding something really shady and ST will be wise to let him dig his own hole while she stays quiet.

Just as Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans was wrapping up we have a new nasty divorce to focus on. I wish people would consider their children before putting their relationship meltdowns on blast.

What is the latest on Ioan v Alice out of interest?

OP, this is exactly what I thought when I read the articles about their divorce. I thought it was pretty sexist and obviously pushing a narrative. Also isn’t he from the US Christian right? Smacks of him disapproving of her not fitting the narrative of what that culture expects of mothers and wives.

This is what I vaguely remember about the Jonas Brothers. Weren't they the whole ' purity ring' people? Presumably while he was hitting on a 13 year old with a dubious stage mother, who he knew would do little yto stop her daughter from being groomed by a pop star. He is playing to the US Christian right and the Jonas Brothers fanbase.

It is obviously him leaking it all as several stories say they reached out to her team for comment, which is media speak for his people providing the content.

Sophie is still very popular and even his own fans seem pretty disgusted with the narrative so far. He has always come across as controlling. Babysitting his own kids, what a joke. Taylor Swift had him pegged alright. It seems to be backfiring pretty badly from what I've seen.

The ridiculous thing is that no one would have cared at all or even heard they were divorcing aside from perhaps a few gossip rags if he hadn't started this strange PR campaign against her. She has always been pretty discreet about her private life and I don't think she'd have said anything to the press even if he has done something terrible that he's trying to get ahead of. He's created this himself, if he was as much of a doting father as he's tried to convey he would be thinking about how publicly saying this stuff about their mother will affect them in the future; and he certainly wouldn't be setting up pap shots.

I never said she was coerced, but it stands to reason if you have a 6-7 year age difference there will come a time when this will inevitably show re lifestyle wants and maturity levels etc (particularly a 23 year old in a relationship with a 30 year old). The fact remains she is quite a lot younger than him as well as post partum and I find the smear campaign properly disgusting.

I think it is a big gap when you are under around 30, but when people are a bit older, I don't think it is a significant gap at all.

The stories are coming from somewhere and I strongly believe it’s his PR team trying to drag her reputation through the mud. I don’t care for his music and haven’t seen anything she’s been in but have heard a lot about this divorce. She’s coming across much better than he is, despite his mud slinging attempts.

If you see "Backgrid" under celebrity photos then the celebrity has paid to be papped and it's a publicity stunt. All his shots are via Backgrid.

His team are being so aggressive in their PR so I'm delighted to see it backfiring on him. Bringing the kids for dinner was so obviously staged, especially as they've previously been shielded from the media.

I don't really understand what point he is trying to make with these photos either. The photos are of him and the DCs nanny, showing he is incapable of even taking his own DC out to lunch without paid help.

this is the thing with Corporate Christianity Culture… he’s divorcing her (and while they are apart from one another), and he’s emphasising he has an ironclad pre-nup. So you want your little wife to stay home (while you go out and party) but actually you’re not a partnership because then the pre-nup threat comes out. He doesn’t want to provide for his family - if you’re going for the traditional marriage model I assumed that was a must? Thank GOD she has a career to rely upon!! Can’t rely on her damn husband 😑

I hope she's getting some good legal representation this side of the globe to bring those girls over to the UK with her. Everything seems to suggest she's miserable in America and wants to be back here.
