I don't mean due to boredom I mean just utterly distressing:

NEVER. Kes. So a lonely little boy finds joy in an innocent bird who loves him back only for his cunt of a brother to kill it, right? I'll pass thanks.

Harry Brown. One of the most violent, depressingly upsetting films I've ever seen. Never again.

NEVER. A Serbian Film. No thanks. Googling the plot was horrific enough.

Dumbo. Never in my life have I wanted to jump through a screen to protect and adopt a cartoon character. Same with Fox & Hound.

Mona Lisa (Bob Hoskins, Cathy Tyson). A brilliant film, but I could never watch it again.

HRTQueen · 06/09/2023 00:02

Watership Down

I remember the lights coming on in the cinema and looking around we were all crying and traumatised. Most of us young children. Still can’t listen to Bright Eyes without having that terribly sad feeling and wanting to cry

TheGirlFromTomorrow · 06/09/2023 00:09

A bit different to others, but mine is sequels. Particularly ones that are made many years after the original as a blatant money making exercise.

I will NOT watch Anchorman 2!

I'm still annoyed i ended up having to watch the newer Bill and Ted film and I've mentally erased it from the ouvre!

Brightandshining · 06/09/2023 00:42

I love extreme horror films. But there's a few films that although I think they are wonderfully made films, personally I couldn't bear to watch them again.

'Threads' is such a brilliant film but it absolutely destroyed me. I was depressed for weeks after watching it. Full on sobbing whilst watching it. Unrelenting bleak and realistic.

'The Nightingale' I couldn't even sit through the first 5 mins. My DH watched the rest and said it was a good film which I believe but the violence against women and children was too graphic for me to handle.

'Come and See' Jesus christ it's upsetting. Again a masterpiece but nothing I ever want to sit thru again.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 06/09/2023 00:49

Deer Hunter - never again.
Silence of the Lamb - I was traumatised
Would never go near Train-spotting.
No horror films ever.

Msbluebozooka · 06/09/2023 00:58

We need to talk about Kevin.
very disturbing

purpleme12 · 06/09/2023 01:08

The Mist.
My ex put it on and said it was so good.
I was not expecting the ending at all and couldn't believe it!

oceanskye · 06/09/2023 01:08

Never again - Once Were Warriors. Great movie, but it's about domestic violence so very hard to watch, lots of brutal scenes.

Never ever - anything which involves torture/gore. I saw The Hill Have Eyes when it first came out, so many years ago, and hated every second of it and decided not to watch anything like that again. Have never seen Saw and similar films, and no plans to!

SkiingIsHeaven · 06/09/2023 01:29

White chicks. Why would anyone watch that?

junbean · 06/09/2023 02:45

Any of the bazillions of movies where the plot centers around inflicting pain on a woman, even if her survival is supposed to be a triumph. I’ve had my fill thanks!

As soon as I see a gun in a film I turn it off. I’m in the US and again, had my fill!

90% of movies are now unwatchable for me, too much like real life. I’d rather have an escape with something nice or thought provoking. I tend to search for films written or directed by women, it usually works out well!

junbean · 06/09/2023 02:56

Also, The People Under The Stairs- horror film I saw at a friend’s house at 7yo even though I told the mom I wasn’t allowed to watch R movies. She said just tell me if you’re scared and I’ll turn it off. Turns out I was paralyzed with fear and couldn’t say anything. I couldn’t eat or sleep for a week after.

In the Bedroom- really good movie, but made me cry for an hour after. Also another one centered around abuse :/

Do these results look accurate? Came off the pill on the 8th August and I'm starting to think I'm out this month :( so many test result photos as I couldn't believe it was reading as high.

Either click edit on your post and put something else, or you can report your own post to MN and they'll withdraw it for you in the morning.

Hope things work out for you with your tests!

I never get scared by films. Horror films bore the arse off me. There is one film that I will never, ever watch again. I watched it years ago when it was on BBC1 late one night. At the time I had horrific PND bordering on psychosis which wouldn’t have helped but the film shook me beyond comprehension. It was Jude. I couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards and it went on for weeks. Just couldn’t forget about it. This was over 20 years ago but even just typing “Jude” is shaking me up. So I’ll stop now.
@meditated I thought Head On was brilliant. I bought the DVD the day after I saw it but I’ve only watched it once more since then.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 06/09/2023 07:51

Gerry, a film with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.

It's a Gus Van Sant film who is an acquired taste anyway, but my God it's boring. Imagine a half hour scene of two guys trying to decide whether to jump down from a cliff. That's in there.

quarterfull · 06/09/2023 08:27

I seriously regret googling the plots of some of the films mentioned!

SabrinaThwaite · 06/09/2023 08:49

They made The Lovely Bones into a stage play - which worked surprisingly well. There was a fair bit of sniffling in the theatre.

PiriPeri · 06/09/2023 08:50

The English Patient - so long and boring

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 05/09/2023 21:17

Meant to add to my post I know it is not a film but a drama series that always played on my mind This Is England by Shane Meadows, one scene so disturbing was when the young woman went into the caravan with 3 much older men and they got her to smoke heroin, she vomited, then they injected her and all took turns to rape her, it was so harrowing as she was so vulnerable and I just found it horrific and played on my mind for a long time as they knew the minute they saw her what they were going to do to her. Any violence towards women really upsets me and add the sexual violence more so.

@BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants was horrid. But I think the rape and attempted incest rape scenes on This Is England 86 with Mick were even worse. When Combo takes the blame for Lol killing him. Here's a fact. The guy who played Mick also played the abusive father in the cartoon boy NSPCC advert. Good actor as he was so hateful

mosiacmaker · 06/09/2023 11:14

Whistleblower 😩 still haunts me

Samcro · 06/09/2023 11:14

I couldn't read some of the details in the actual posts - only skimmed through- let alone google them...
