What's your simple pleasure?

For me, today, it is sitting in the hammock under the trees listening to the radio while the sun shines.

The first perfect rose opening on my new rose bush. It looks beautiful and makes me so happy to look at it.

Coastalcreeksider · 05/09/2023 21:24

Getting up in the morning and pulling the blinds up and seeing blue sky and sunshine.

Newestname002 · 05/09/2023 21:27

Waking up after a good sleep and having my first cup of strong black coffee. Then easing myself into a hot bath scented with lavender oil and reading whilst the hot water eases any aches, then having scrambled eggs on hot buttered Irish soda bread. Bliss 🌹

Enough of that kind of nonsense.

You have absolutely no idea what the poster may be contending with in life that does indeed make her time in her hammock in the garden a simple pleasure.

Hear, hear. 👏

Zipps · 05/09/2023 21:34

Early doors drinks at the pub with DH then home to watch a film.
Listening to audiobooks.
Dog walks are getting shorter as the dogs are very old but I love pottering round the garden with them.
A cuddle with gdc.

elm26 · 05/09/2023 21:50

Running my nose and kissing my 15 week olds fluffy hair and head after a bath when it smells of baby shampoo and she's fast asleep in my arms.

My sprocker spaniel jumping up on me for a snuggle when the baby is in her cot.

A walk in the sunshine with DD and dog, even better when DH or friends come along too (although this week he's been being walked at 8:30pm because of the heat).

The smell of fresh cut grass.

MeinKraft · 05/09/2023 23:07

This one's a bit weird but I quite enjoy it when I have a heavy cold and I get to sit about in my pyjamas feeling sorry for myself Blush

BitOutOfPractice · 05/09/2023 23:11

Friday evening, at work, get a text from dp to say he’ll meet me in our local. 10 minute walk and I’m There and the barmaid says “usual?” And i Know it’s the weekend.

also, bullet journaling.

SperaT · 05/09/2023 23:30

Crumpets with butter, marmite and a slice of cheddar cheese.

Watching ducklings walk.

Making a massive cheesy pasta bake on a cold night and eating it with red wine.

Snorkelling 🐠

I'm sorry for your loss OP 🌷

longtompot · 06/09/2023 10:52

So sorry for your loss @Ratfinkstinkypink

For me yesterday was watching the sparrows in the garden having a bath in a tiny amount of water in a dish. They looked so ragged afterwards. I only realised to start with they were doing this as when they flew past me I got sprayed with water! The sparrows give me great joy, as does watching our new Robin growing up from a brown speckled fluff ball and now has his very bright red breast.

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 06/09/2023 15:45

Saturday evening cuddled up relaxing watching Netflix with a hare stretched out snoring on my tummy and DH and Dd2 the same while Dd1 and I relax knowing we can lie in next morning and the cat across my feet.

Sherwil16 · 06/09/2023 16:46

I once thought brussels sprouts might be an interesting addition to a curry.

Sherwil16 · 06/09/2023 16:47

Oops, prev thread, sorry!

kipperba · 06/09/2023 16:53

Falling asleep reading my book and waking up to my husband putting my bookmark in so I don't lose my place.

Piemam · 06/09/2023 17:14

Getting home to find flowers from my bestie.

Not a simple pleasure. How many people have a hammock in the garden. Or a garden?

Oh, don't be so po-faced.

Mine is (like a lot of people's here, it seems) a quiet coffee in the garden early in the morning, watching and listening to the birds and feeling the cool morning air.
If that offends you, ShellySarah, tough.

Hawkins0009 · 06/09/2023 17:55

A nice Energy drink and or cupper tea with a walk in the woods listening to nature.

Sherwil16 · 06/09/2023 16:46

I once thought brussels sprouts might be an interesting addition to a curry.

It would certainly create an interesting aroma later in the day

caringcarer · 06/09/2023 18:56

Swimming in the sea.
Having the first cup of tea in bed in the morning.
A glass of wine sitting in a sunny garden.
Playing with DGC and seeing their happiness when I buy them an ice cream.

Noicant · 06/09/2023 19:04

Clean sheets and a book after a hot shower. That moment between sleeping and being awake when you are cosy and warm but not fully awake. Haven’t had that for years, usually slammed awake by an alarm clock or a small child crawling all over me.

A HARE?!! Must know more.

Lovely thread.

River dips, garden pottering and sniffimg my sleeping children for me.

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 06/09/2023 20:27

@napody His name is Argyll, my youngest Dd rescued him as a tiny leveret from barley machinery and brought him in, I bottle fed him every 2 hours day and night and we didn't ever think he'd survive as he was so underweight. He is now the boss of the house, refuses point blank to entertain going outside never mind <whispers> live out there when there's sofas, laps and being spoiled rotten. He is so loving, I have kept pet rabbits before but they were never cuddly like he is but he does cost me a lot of sleep loss! He doesn't eat for anyone else and needs watched like a hawk to make sure his digestive system is working properly but he is a celebrity with all the neighbouring farms who actually wave at him when passing Blush

This is incredible! Argyll is an amazing creature, no wonder he's a local celebrity. I love hares but have never seen one up close.

mumtoboys12 · 06/09/2023 20:35

Having a freezing cold shower in this heat then hopping into bed (in an air conditioned room) with wet hair at 8:30pm ready for a long long sleep. Babies both in bed. Dog between us. Heaven.

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/09/2023 20:37

The first coffee in the morning
A new book by a favourite author
A walk by the sea
My two special roses, bought in memory of a friend.
