I've looked in sport, and as it's the start of the season I'd love to congratulate/commiserate/complain about the quality of the coffee?

Anyone else with a rugby kid?

How is the season going for everyone?

Also... do any other players rate the clubs they are against on the quality of the after match meal? Apparently todays was atrocious. Even DH was appalled.

Honestly round here most of the clubs have really limited catering facilities ( not a full clubhouse with restaurant etc) so it tends to be pretty basic- lasagna/ spag bol/ sausage and chips etc. - and no one really expects much.

Season got off to a bad start when DD broke her arm in training and so has had to have 6 weeks off. 😭. DS just playing at school now- not a particularly strong team, mainly as they just need some bigger kids, but weirdly it’s made him raise his game considerably. He’s moved to the forwards - where I always suspected he’d be better but he was wedded to the idea of the backs- and actually started tackling. Short season though as it’s hockey next term.

Ps also have tickets for Women’s World Cup final. Will give them to dd for Christmas- I told her they were sold out so it’s still a surprise.

Wow we’d be thrilled with lasagne/spag Bol etc.
ours seem to have all fallen into just hotdogs. Seems a right faff to shower and change into smart clothes to just eat a hotdog!

PuttingDownRoots · 12/11/2024 20:00

The meal in question that caused the distaste was.... a plate of chips. But you could buy something to go with your chips...

Duckduckloose · 12/11/2024 20:12

lol. We had to buy the chips to go with the hotdog!

KenIsAnAccessory · 13/11/2024 11:27

We just get hot dogs too. Plenty of other options to buy though

Sausage and chips at just about every club here. The season is going OK. DD didn’t get selected for county after trials which she was a bit gutted about. Feedback said she wasn’t confident in contact, which anyone who watches her wouldn’t recognise!

lostinabook · 23/11/2024 07:33

I have the only veggie on the team and she has lucked out this season so far with quorn nuggets and Chips and veggie hotdogs etc whilst the other girls get 'splodge' I foresee 20 vegetarians next season!

Mine returning to play this Sunday after resting a foot injury. She is a Reluctant but natural prop and I think they have missed her in the scrums

Sorry to hear your daughter didn't get picked @dinnermoneyready - trials can have very bizarre outcomes:(

It's summer here now so Touch rugby is in full swing now. I've stepped up to manage DD's provincial team. It's a lot of work, but it means I get free flights and accommodation at the tournament. My DA also made a provincial team so it was going to cost $3k (about £1500) for us all to go to Auckland for 3 days!
