DS (5) has always been completely unimaginative when it comes to naming teddies. Lots of Huggy Bears and Monkey/Rabbit etc... He decided to rename two tonight, and we now have Screwdriver and Walmart. No idea where those names have come from!

DS randomly named his teddy Wanky. We would refer to it as Wonky hoping he'd take the hint but he'd correct us and so no he's wanky! Raised a few eyebrows over the years.

My son had a dinosaur called Willy.

QueefofSheena · 21/08/2023 00:06

Titty-tit, a bird that tweeted. Bought from a zoo gift shop. He's 25 now and I remind him occasionally 😈

Yellowcakestand · 21/08/2023 00:08

My brother had 2 bears. Applebum and poxy.
Ds named our guinea pigs chips and nuggets

When DS was about 4, he named his cuddly kangaroo The Earl of Warwick. We also have Constance Le Fray, the giant squishy blue flower that we were given when he was first born. It was just "blue flower" until he was around 8, found it in his wardrobe and declared its new name.
None of us know why either of these are called what they are!

They're the only cuddlies left in the bedroom now he's 14.

We had Cauli and Flower for guinea pigs. They had two babies, Furry and Fuzzy.

DS2 had a little rabbit called Jesus Grin (we are athiests)
I had a stuffed dog called SnoggyDoggy!

Saschka · 21/08/2023 00:48

One called Michael. We do not know anybody called Michael.

Another called Chase, after the Paw patrol character. But Chase the teddy is not a dog teddy, or anything to do with Paw Patrol. It is a dragon teddy. Chase the Dragon. DS flatly refuses to change it.

My DC had pretty normal names for their collections of soft toys. As I child I was definitely more ‘Out there’ when it came to naming ideas. My best teddy was called Pillit, for reasons unknown. One was called Carnustian - inspired by a summer holiday in Wales I think. The most bizarre was Sooty. Who was actually a Sooty glove puppet. But he was known formally by has full name, which was gradually added to by both myself and one of my DBs until the unfortunate creature became saddled with the moniker - Sooty, Clive, Dudley, Dunstable, Gaboon, Mr. Douglas, Perkins Bakery, Cardboard, Monkey Wrench. Sometimes we had to change it because we had forgotten one of more of his names. I have a feeling it was longer but until I speak to my DB, I’m not certain. Also uncertain if I have it 100% accurate. It was hard to keep track of at the best of times and advancing years, have not helped 😃

DD2 was a hilarious child.

She named a bear a noise - sort of uh-uh but with your mouth closed.

crazyBadger · 21/08/2023 07:57

My then 2 year old called her soft toy puppy..... Judith

MoserRothOrangeandAlmond · 21/08/2023 08:16

catsnore · 21/08/2023 08:41

We had a pet snail called Crack.

I couldn't explain why it made me laugh so much 😂

YouNeverCanTellWithBees · 21/08/2023 09:11

I named my soft toy rabbit Andrew. I still have him.

Not a teddy, but DS has a wooden sword named "Glorious" who uses the pronouns "she/ her"

That bit about the pronouns has really tickled my funny bone 😁

ILookAtTheFloor · 21/08/2023 09:35

A few years ago my girls had a collection of Barbies that they played with all the time. One was inexplicably called Sausage and I found this hilarious. There was no explanation and they were completely deadpan when saying her name!

PenisFlyTrap · 21/08/2023 09:41

'Monkey' the leopard

Twoscotcheggsandajarofmarmite · 21/08/2023 09:50

My eldest had a little bear with dungarees on and named him No Conkers. When we asked him why it was because he had no conkers in his pockets !?

Twoscotcheggsandajarofmarmite · 21/08/2023 09:53

I’ve just remembered my brother had a stuffed panda who was named Paddy Eagle who was half Irish, half Native American apparently.

DRS1970 · 21/08/2023 09:58

Bob-a-noodle.

Deathraystare · 21/08/2023 14:40

Our pet mouse was named Kipsy. My brother could not pronounce Skippy (as in the bush Kangaroo though why he thought a mouse was like a kangaroo I do not know!).

My Aunt called her budgie Goliath!

Chasetherainblownfearsaway · 21/08/2023 14:42

I bought DD a squishmallow meerkat. She immediately announced that it was called Lesley and refuses to explain why.

Friarclose · 21/08/2023 22:14

A small tatty cat called Scrimbunch

Friarclose · 21/08/2023 22:16

Also growing up I had 3 dolls called Lisa, Holly and Skinhead 🤣
