DS (5) has always been completely unimaginative when it comes to naming teddies. Lots of Huggy Bears and Monkey/Rabbit etc... He decided to rename two tonight, and we now have Screwdriver and Walmart. No idea where those names have come from!

Well, this will be super outing but hey.

DC2:
Every baby dolly was called Baby Jesus.
Imaginary pet horse called Barrow.
Various bears named things like Shoe, Brick, Toast, etc.

DC1:
A range of bears, all called Teddy
Has collected stuffed toy pigs since they were tiny, their names include Mr Pig (first one), Mrs Pig, Master Pig, Nipple Pig, Long Pig, and the most recent is disguised as something but I can't remember if it's a dog or a fruit, that one is name of disguise Pig.

An early learning light up bear who talked. Called "lifer bear" sounds like he is in jail. Was named because he miss heard "light up bear" in the lyrics.

Mr Chirpington senior and junior. Fluffy chick toys. Monsieur Bugge - pronounced bew- zhay - a caterpillar. A leprechaun called Mr Humdy Ho Ho.

MicrowaveRice · 20/08/2023 22:44

DD had a black and white cow called Ooplog but I could never remember its name - she used to say in an exasperated tone 'mummy it's H Y L O P spells Ooplog!' (She was only 3 and knew the alphabet letters but not how to spell obviously!)

ChickenNuggetDreamland · 20/08/2023 22:44

My son has a fluffy chicken called Baby Dinosaur - he's nearly 13 and we still have him.

stinkingbishop · 20/08/2023 22:45

Andrew Brownsword (bear)
Mr Tingle Pringle (Guinea pig)
EeBoo (quilt, used to love sucking the corner, after a while we realised it came from 'elbow' - she'd thought that meant 'corner' - there is a logic!)

Truffle55 · 20/08/2023 22:46

My son has lots of soft toy dinosaurs and one is called Wibble and another is Terry-Dave (yep, actually hyphenated).

We do name a lot of things in our house though. We had a spider plant called Alan for a while.

Notellinganyone · 20/08/2023 22:47

@stinkingbishop - Andrew Brownsword sounds very Blackadder!

Wrongsideofpennines · 20/08/2023 22:49

Not unusual really - they're quite unimaginative with names. We only have Rosstop the robot and Baa Baa Black Sheep the pink knitted bear.

Beamur · 20/08/2023 22:51

Picnic basket. No idea why.

Itssnotunusual · 20/08/2023 22:52

The Niece has a knitted soft toy sausage dog called Jesus.

The name was a relief to be honest as I bought it for her whilst I was pregnant with my little boy who she was convinced was going to be a girl and named jesus. She was the youngest in the family at this point though and I think Jesus was the only 'baby name' she knew 😂

I had a pet chicken called Wibble! Though I would hazard I guess I was a lot older than your DC! (Early teens!)

OhHolyMoly · 20/08/2023 22:59

A skunk named Fajita. A dolphin named Phil.

Ellaone · 20/08/2023 23:01

We have Grainstee. Grainstee is a child’s travel neck pillow - my son loves it, goes everywhere with him, he has another but that one’s just called me pillow which is quite boring

Phos · 20/08/2023 23:02

Dalmatian (regular one, not Marshall) called Wazzock.

She heard me referring to Marshall from Paw Patrol as a "right wazzock"

PollyannaWhittier · 20/08/2023 23:04

My DSis had a vanilla scented baby doll called Smelly Baby Grin
I was less imaginative, my earliest teddies were Pink Bear, Squidgy, and Brownie Brown Bear ! I also had a Harrod's Christmas teddy called Harry.

As we got older we moved to naming things after their word in another language, eg a cow called Mucca and a starfish called Etty (short for étoile de mer, obvs !)

Ihaveawonderfulpartner · 20/08/2023 23:04

Eldest had a teddy called "mmm mmm". It was funny at the time 😊

howisthismylife · 20/08/2023 23:08

My boy calls all his Teddy's David!

Feckingfeck · 20/08/2023 23:09

Sherif Maginty .... no idea!

Jeff the Okapi if a favourite though!

Tulipblank · 20/08/2023 23:10

My daughter called her rocking horse Kevin. She's 15 now and it still makes me laugh

Neolara · 20/08/2023 23:13

We have Poppy the crocodile.

APurpleSquirrel · 20/08/2023 23:15

DS has an orange triceratops called Banany.
DD has He-Bunny & She-Bunny (white Jelly Cat Bunnies) & the outstanding Purpley Pom Pom Cheeky - a purple sloth/chimp Teddy.

pinksquash13 · 20/08/2023 23:16

We have a 'scary doll' (that nanny knitted) but we had to rename her 'Sarah doll' in case nanny was offended 🤣

My daughter's two feet (who sometimes play hide and ) are called bubby and dolner. Strange.

Dog called simmy.

Awaanbileyirheid · 20/08/2023 23:18

DS 10 has a wee dog teddy called 'Dracl'. He was 50p from a charity shop and is actually a teddy of 'Boo' the IG dog. He's had him since he was 3.
We found his cousin Alex in a shop a few years ago, DS still loves them both.
Luckily he's grown out of Dracl getting a birthday muffin and candle every year but they're still in his bed!

CoachBeardsJane · 20/08/2023 23:19

Horny the stegosaurus
