What cosmetic treatments and aesthetics do you have?

Ladies and Gents, talk to me about cosmetic treatments and aesthetics? What do you like to have done and why? What's the cost?

I've always considered myself a bog standard, normal female but growing up I've never really been into cosmetics and aesthetics, probably because my mum wasn't and I lived with lots of boys. I wear make up and like to look the best I can but would say I am great at applying it. I look pretty rough without make up but tough.

I've never had Botox, fillers, my lashes or brows done, I don't tan. I'd love to experiment. I just don't know where it start. I'm 32 now and could probably do with the little bit of help.

So please tell me about your routines x

*wouldn't say I'm great at applying make up 😂

Im going to be a pain here…but I’m 43 and none other than a regular haircut. I have bought a Phillips Lumea because I would love not to have to shave. I wouldn’t advocate starting expensive routines…

otherwayup · 19/08/2023 21:04

I get my nails done every 3 weeks and for a treat/special occasion have lash extensions (tame ones, not the whoppers!)

I'm actually low maintenance generally, cut my own hair, Aldi skin care etc

I have botox every 9 months-ish.

Do my own tanning and nails. Have a £70 facial every 4 weeks. A Hollywood wax every 12 weeks or so. That's it.

Elis44 · 19/08/2023 21:06

None! (52 and proud)

RunBorisRun · 19/08/2023 21:06

I use self-tan mousse in the summer which is very easy and gives a great colour.
I am having my brows micro-feathered in the autumn as they're very patchy (a much less invasive and less long lasting than microblading).
I have Botox for my 11s as I frown a lot without realising, and filler in my under eye hollows.

However - I am 42 and was beginning to notice real change in how I looked. I wasn't contemplating any injectables in my 30s!

bryceQ · 19/08/2023 21:08

I used to have lashes a lot, natural ones not crazy spiders. They looked amazing but were so much upkeep.

I have my nails done every 2-3 weeks, I get tips in nice colours and it stops me biting them.

I have an Indian Head Massage or gua sha massage every month.

I do lots of destress activities which I consider aesthetic! 😂

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 19/08/2023 21:08

None.

Augend23 · 19/08/2023 21:09

Another none really here.

I moisturise a few times a week in winter and suncream if I'm going to be out a lot in summer.

I'm not sure expensive and time consuming habits are something you'll thank yourself for staying are they?

That said I do like other people's lovely nails!

continentallentil · 19/08/2023 21:11

I’m pretty sure you don’t need Botox and fillers at 32 OP, unless you’ve had a very very hard life indeed.

Lashes and brows - again are they very sparse? If they aren’t just use mascara and a pencil.

I’m not anti tweakments but I think you have a few years yet.

PollyAmour · 19/08/2023 21:11

If I wasn't a nurse I'd have my nails done regularly.

I'd also like to get my eyebrows microbladed because they are really fair, but I'm too much of a coward. I don't want to look like Groucho Marx.

NoTouch · 19/08/2023 21:15

55 and none apart from haircut and occasionally some highlights to even out my grey at the front with darker hair at back of head.

Never had nails done professionally and certainly never injected and would never consider injecting anything cosmetic!

Neverseenbefore · 19/08/2023 21:16

None. I’m 57. I wear a lot of sunscreen and try to be as pale as possible.

always2323 · 19/08/2023 21:18

I over plucked my brows in the 00's so I could probably benefit with them being done 😂

So many colleagues that I work with either younger or similar age to me have injectables. I'm not judging as they do look good.

Im not sure if I'm missing out or not. I'm not insecure as such. Im very average looking and thats fine but I'm worried that one day I'll look 50 and every other 50 year old will still look 30 😂

I have my eyebrows microbladed. They were so sparse they were non existent and it's the thing that's made the single biggest improvement to how I look.

I can't get my fingernails done as I'm constantly gardening so I have a pedicure every six weeks in the spring/summer and then over autumn/winter when my feet aren't in sandals I switch to a massage every six weeks.

I moisturise my face and neck every morning and night and put on body lotion after every bath/shower.

My hair is long and I only get it cut every six months. I don't fake tan and don't want anything injected so the above is as much as I'll do.

hdbs17 · 19/08/2023 21:20

33 and had brows semi-permanent tattooed and I've had a lip contour.

Nails and tan I do myself, can't be bothered with eyelashes and hate the hairdresser

mummybear247 · 19/08/2023 21:20

Nothing apart from having a hair cut but that's only because I now have kids and prefer to
Spend my money on them and make sure that have what they need....
B4 kids I would have my hair done every 6 weeks and have my nails done every 3 weeks massage every week some times twice a week never had fillers or Botox

I hate the hairdressers too! I paint my own nails as they are quite strong. Some times I just pop clear polish on them.

Are you assuming all of us with kids are feeding them scraps so we can afford treatments? 😂

My mum was like you, always soooooo keen to let the world what she sacrificed to be a parent.
I'd have preferred her to have split herself a bit if I'm honest.

Rigorous skincare routine and spf and that’s it. Drink lots of water, don’t smoke, limit alcohol and lots of sleep and no wrinkles in my mid -50’s.

Underthelightofthefullmoon · 19/08/2023 21:26

Nothing here (60). Use SPF50 and tretinoin, but I've no intention of having Botox or fillers. I suspect the look of big lips, frozen foreheads etc will go out of fashion in the longer term.

Jay3004 · 19/08/2023 21:27

Hair coloured every 4 weeks, hair extensions, nails done every few weeks, eyebrows laminated once every 6 weeks, Botox every 3-4 months, lip fillers and I’m currently going through a course of laser hair removal. I’m pretty high maintenance now I’ve seen it written down 😂

Wishesa · 19/08/2023 21:28

Microneedling which has kept my skin at the same stage it was at 5 years ago, I would love to have filler for acne scars on my cheeks but too afraid!
