What cosmetic treatments and aesthetics do you have?

Ladies and Gents, talk to me about cosmetic treatments and aesthetics? What do you like to have done and why? What's the cost?

I've always considered myself a bog standard, normal female but growing up I've never really been into cosmetics and aesthetics, probably because my mum wasn't and I lived with lots of boys. I wear make up and like to look the best I can but would say I am great at applying it. I look pretty rough without make up but tough.

I've never had Botox, fillers, my lashes or brows done, I don't tan. I'd love to experiment. I just don't know where it start. I'm 32 now and could probably do with the little bit of help.

So please tell me about your routines x

37, had Botox for first time a few days ago as resting frown face is leaving a mark on the space between my eyes. The whole skin care malarky is a pile of crap as it will never ever penetrate or affect change at a cellular level. Ageing is about bone structures changing which affects how skin hangs etc etc. Our eyes begin to hollow, our chins and jaws begin to recede which produces jowles. Facials will do naff all unless it's some intensive Profilo or whatever it's called treatment. Nowt wrong with wanting to look good and feel good especially when it's easy to do the necessary checks on professionals. Eg Save Face.

porridgeisbae · 20/08/2023 20:45

Oh I did Tretinoin due to people mentioning it on here, think it has helped my lines a bit.

And I've just gone on Ozempic, hopefully just for a short time. As I get older I look rough in the face if I'm very thin.

I spend quite a lot of money on all this stuff but will have to stop now due to some wider family's finances needing help.

It's nothing to do with our bone structure! Its fat loss, collagen loss and lack of muscle tone!

Your bone structure literally changes. Collagen production slows but over time it is the structure of the face which changes. No need to get shouty.

iamwhatiam23 · 20/08/2023 21:40

@Freshair1 our bone structure does not change and i was not shouting 🙄

Gwenhwyfar · 20/08/2023 22:09

Can anyone tell me more about microneedling and peels? Or LED lights? They all sound quite interesting and non-invasive.

iamwhatiam23 · 20/08/2023 22:21

@Freshair1 so one study of a very small cohort of people? Must be true then 😂

Amethys · 20/08/2023 22:36

I don’t like the fake look. Lip fillers and botox make my stomach roll when I see them and DH feels the same.

I do electrolysis for the chin hair and that’s it

If you really want to look fabulous, take up jogging. I did for a while and in the photos from them I look amazing!

Scarfweather · 20/08/2023 22:42

Mid 40s
Dye/cut own hair
Full head tape extensions approx every 6 months plus refits every 6 weeks
occasional Botox when I remember for 11s and to lift eyebrows
one expensive moisturiser £120
Amazon for cheaper retinol
Wyleda moisturisers
Self tan once a week
Do my own mani/ pedi
Gym £150pcm
Bobbi brown makeup / Nars tinted moisturiser and concealer ( lasts ages)

SirVixofVixHall · 20/08/2023 22:42

Nothing. I have never had a manicure, I don’t colour my hair, use fake tan, have facials or any cosmetic enhancements or medical procedures eg botox.
I am not far off 60, and my face looks fine I think, I wear makeup, I like clothes, so I do care about my appearance, I just don’t want to mess with my face.

Loafbeginsat60 · 20/08/2023 22:47

Botox once a year
Nails every 2/3 weeks
Hair coloured 3 times a year (balayage)
I do spend quite a bit on skincare but I don't get any treatments

So that's not too high maintenance I don't think!

porridgeisbae · 20/08/2023 23:08

@Amethys That'd mostly be badly done/overdone ones. Botox can give a shiny look that is noticeable maybe (or maybe just if people have too much.) But fillers that aren't done ridiculously, would in theory look natural and you wouldn't even know someone passing in the street'd had it done.

With mine, people kept thinking I'd done something to my hair. They could tell something was better but they couldn't tell what. But it wasn't £900 worth of difference. Smile

I'll maybe get a face lift in future when I can afford it, as I really look decrepit for my age and am still looking to find someone special.

newwings · 20/08/2023 23:21

Eyebrow tattoo
Tummy tuck
Dye hair every 6-8 weeks
Gel nails, hands and feet
Laser hair removal.
Not interested in injectables seen too many disasters or lumpy bumpy lips.

xogossipgirlxo · 20/08/2023 23:36

I only have lip filler done 2 years ago. Planning on top up in a year. I think topping up filler every 6-12 months is not needed for most women. Rest is done at home, which is skincare etc. I also colour my hair at hairdresser if it counts.

Wishesa · 20/08/2023 23:45

Sorry I can't see who asked but microneedling is a treatment whereby the area to be treated is numbed with anaesthetic cream for 30 mins, then the skin is punctured with tiny needles. If they are deep enough the damage stimulates collagen.
I have it done 4 times a year by a qualified nurse.
My face aged terribly during a horrible protracted divorce, acne scars became more visible but this has helped quite a lot.
My face previously looked as though it was melting, it was so depressing.
I would like to be brave enough to have a small amount of filler in my cheeks.

Bonfire23 · 20/08/2023 23:50

Not much really
39

Micropigmentation eyebrows 6 years ago
Used to have Botox but haven't had it for around 4 years (want to start again
Do my own dermaplaning and nails
Haircut every 9 months
Occasional sports massage
Skin and me subscription for tret

CutTheBSJustGiveMeCake · 21/08/2023 00:04

I do everything myself , hair removal, hair styling and trims, nails etc. I don't wear any fillers or false nails or lashes, and my I use a toothpaste with bicarbonate of soda in it to keep my teeth white. I rarely polish my nails or wear make up. I do have my ears pierced, nothing else. No tatts. Never had cosmetic surgery.

Teacherprebaby · 22/02/2024 20:46

Can you recommend someone for cheek fillers, also how many ml do you get (I'm hoping to keep it natural, just fill in the lost volume).

Pickingmyselfup · 22/02/2024 21:15

Lip fillers to give me actual lips and highlights because as it turns out I actually suit and like blonde hair.

I used to have my nails done because I am a horrific nail biter but it's expensive and time consuming so I'm back to having horrid bitten ones.

I dabbled in fake eyelashes but some looked stupid and I was never very good at applying them. If I had endless money and time I would get them done professionally.

I would consider botox if I had the money.

I would just want to look like a better version of me but I know how easy it is to get used to something and then go more and more because to you it starts to look normal which is a bit scary.

I just don't have the money to pursue all of the beauty treatments thankfully but I am very glad for lip fillers. They aren't in your face but they've given me just a bit more oomph. I would like a bit more in but I'm worried about going too far. My face won't suit huge lips so I would need to be very careful I didn't get too much in.

Properly done aesthetic work looks great but I see so many people with obviously plastic faces and I was a bit put off after watching that Olivia Attwood programme about it. The lengths people go to to achieve their dream look is scary.
