What cosmetic treatments and aesthetics do you have?

Ladies and Gents, talk to me about cosmetic treatments and aesthetics? What do you like to have done and why? What's the cost?

I've always considered myself a bog standard, normal female but growing up I've never really been into cosmetics and aesthetics, probably because my mum wasn't and I lived with lots of boys. I wear make up and like to look the best I can but would say I am great at applying it. I look pretty rough without make up but tough.

I've never had Botox, fillers, my lashes or brows done, I don't tan. I'd love to experiment. I just don't know where it start. I'm 32 now and could probably do with the little bit of help.

So please tell me about your routines x

I over plucked my brows in the 00's so I could probably benefit with them being done 😂

So many colleagues that I work with either younger or similar age to me have injectables. I'm not judging as they do look good.

Im not sure if I'm missing out or not. I'm not insecure as such. Im very average looking and thats fine but I'm worried that one day I'll look 50 and every other 50 year old will still look 30 😂

What are the injectables meant to do at that age though?! I mean unless you are trying to change something like very thin lips.

As I said I’m not anti it, but surely to need Botox you need some freaking wrinkles..

Apparently it's to prevent wrinkles, if you can't frown then your head can't wrinkle 🤷‍♀️

None, age 44. No skincare, no nails, certainly nothing semi-permanent or injected. The whole idea of that absolutely baffles me.

I get my haircut about twice a year when I gear myself up for it.

You're 32, you're in your prime. I didn't have anything till I was 45 and I'm lucky to have aged pretty well (despite partying well into my 30's). I think messing around with your face at an early age probably ages you - I worry for all the 20 somethings blowing up their lips - will they end up with saggy baggy lips at 40? a'la aging flesh tunnels? I'd seriously leave it - stay well hydrated, keep your face and chest out of the sun and you'll be just fine.

KevinDeBrioche · 19/08/2023 21:45

Hair cut and coloured every three months
pedicures every 6-8 weeks
manicure special occasions only (love them but addictive and expensive)
Botox once so far (I’m 43, will decide in a few months whether to carry on)
v good skincare routine (acids / retinol / focus on hydration)
brows shaped professionally 2/3 times a year
eat healthy, lots of water, minimal alcohol and sugar, as much sleep as I can fit in, yoga 5/6 times a week, walking everyday

on the cards - collagen, micro needling

Soubriquet · 19/08/2023 21:47

I had my ears pinned back when I was 11. I don’t regret having it done at all because I was always so self conscious about them but the scarring does give me grief. I have to wear a hearing aid and it rubs on the scarring occasionally

Soubriquet · 19/08/2023 21:47

Probably should have read the entire thread before adding my contribution

sanityisamyth · 19/08/2023 21:49

None. Most days I don't even brush my hair. Life is too short and money is too precious!!

mummybear247 · 19/08/2023 21:51

@otherwayup no not at all I'm just saying I try and give my kids what I never had as a kid so if I'm wrong in doing so the shoot me now there are many kids out there that get nothing coz there mum/dad spend on them self's and not the kids

Ambi · 19/08/2023 21:52

I'm 42yrs. I've been going to the hairdressers every 3 weeks for roots colour and blow dry for a few years now. I have a massage twice a year. Hollywood wax every 7 weeks. Lash lift, brow wax and tint every 6 weeks. I had my first baby botox last month, I'm surprised how much I like the results. I love acrylic nails but I'm happy to polish my own nails.

Gnomegarden32 · 19/08/2023 21:53

Very low maintenance these days but I’m having laser hair removal at the moment and it’s incredible. Only had a few sessions (£80 with a Groupon voucher) and I barely need to shave my legs anymore. Life changing.

chunkychunks · 19/08/2023 21:55

Had Botox in my forehead and 1ml of lip filler last year, it's all gone now 😂 if I could afford it I'd have it done again and would love composite bonding on my teeth.

Used to have hair and nail extensions but stopped that. Still wear clip ins for a night out or a wedding

I'm 30

Why do people fall over themselves to comment on a post asking for recommendations to say they don’t have anything done and can’t understand why others would 😂

I have:
• Lip filler (haven’t had it done for nearly 2 years though so due a top up)
• Tear trough filler (again it’s been 2 years, need a top up)
• Microblading (you guessed it - need a top up)
I put away about £30 a month for the above treatments so I have it ready when they’re all due.

• Fanny wax monthly £20
• Do my own pedicures (weekly foot scrub/buff, monthly-ish gel change (lamp cost me £8, set of gels was about £10 and I’ve had them a few years)
• Do my own lash lift/tint (kit was £15 and it does about 10 lifts before you have to throw it out)
• 6-weekly ish full head of highlights £50 because she WFH and does amazing NHS discount
• Fringe trim every fortnight (could do this myself but would rather pay to have it done neatly and have a little catch up with my hairdresser at the same time) £5
• Decent skin care routine (I have rosacea so need to be very kind to my skin) and never leave the house without at least sunscreen on my face. I ask for skincare products for Christmas so technically free for me.
• Moisturise my whole body daily - £3 a bottle
• Occasionally fake tan (DP is very good at it 😂) if I’ve got an event to go to or something but otherwise I can’t be bothered with it!
• Wax my own legs and pits with a hot wax kit - pot was £10 and beads are about £8 a bag and they do about four waxes. I was waxing my own fanny but I’d rather outsource that to a professional because it hurts SO much to do my own and was taking me ages.

I do a few overtime shifts each month to pay for the stuff I want to have done so it doesn’t eat into my salary, which I use for life’s boring stuff/savings. If I want it, I work for it 🙂

Redebs · 19/08/2023 21:58

Some of us recommend not injecting plastic and poison into our faces.

Technically she didn't ask for recommendations, she asked what other people do in that area so "fuck all" is a legitimate response! And questioning why anyone feels the need to do it all is never a bad thing.

I'm 25 and love to wear make up for a special occasion, I'm actually qualified in make up artistry which I don't do 🤣 but we call it "boujee on a budget" or "high maintenance to be low maintenance" 🤣 which means I do it all myself so brows wax and tint, individual lashes, self tan and nails. So everyday I feel good not just when I have somewhere to go! But it is a faction of the price to getting it done!

I'd love to experiment with having some filler done but my parents definitely wouldn't agree also if I get frown lines in the middle of my brows I am having Botox 🤣🤣

MammaTo · 19/08/2023 22:01

Nails done once a month. Eyebrows waxed and tinted every 8-10 weeks. Moisturise and suncream every day.
Ive also started “slugging” nightly because I have the driest skin in the world and it’s done WONDERS.
I also try and sleep with my hair in a very high twisted bun to keep a curl in it. I’ve seen a few tik toks along the lines of high maintenance things people do to be low maintenance and it’s very useful 😂😂

MiniEggsAllYear · 19/08/2023 22:03

I'm 33. I get Botox, I have extremely short, neutral acrylic nails every 3-4 weeks and shellac on my toes, full head of highlights every few months, Hollywood and half leg wax whenever I need it, spray tans whenever I go away or have a night out or event. Currently having laser on my armpits, doing that area first before I start on bikini and legs just to see how it goes.

IAmKenough · 19/08/2023 22:04

Subtle boob job after breastfeeding 3 kids left me with even left than I'd been given.

Highlights to blend in grey hair.

Gradual self tan to stop me looking ghostly.

No, the question was “what treatments and aesthetics do you have?” People can still answer that if they have nothing or little done.

cruffinsmuffin · 19/08/2023 22:09

I'm 30!

Botox - masseter (teeth grinding) and crows feet. Botox is a great preventative, I've been getting it for the past four or so years. No point getting it when the wrinkles are already deep set imo.

Facials - fairly frequently and especially before a special occasion. I get prescription skin care from my injector and that's part and parcel of having good skin for me, although some is definitely genetics. I use LED masks, which have made a huge difference for me. I do face masks and under eye masks at home too regularly.

Nails - every 3 weeks, normally just a plain colour but I go jazzy for holidays!

Lashes - for special occasions now, I got into the habit of pulling them off 😂

Hair - a couple of hundred every few months probably! Would quite like to try extensions, but I'm worried about getting a hot head!

Makeup - generally very light for daytime and for special occasions I get it done professionally. I'm a huge Charlotte tilbury fan, the natural glow the makeup gives me is my favourite look.

Fake tan - the bondi sands moisturiser is my go to, doesn't make me orange or streaky and I use once a week for a natural healthy glow (I look deathly pale 😬)

Personally I think it's all up to you! I'm planning for a boob job in the future (post having DC hopefully), I'd love a reduction and lift but I've been told to do it after children as it's more likely to give the results I wanted. If you want to start small, I started with my nails years and years ago. Always makes me feel put together and "finished" when my nails look good.

wineandsunshine · 19/08/2023 22:09

I'm 40 and have really started to notice the age lines!

I have gel nails every 4 weeks, root colour every 3 weeks (she does a good deal of £25 per visit).

I am contemplating micro blading soon as I always fill my natural brows in and I'm sure this would help speed up my morning routine!

If I could afford Botox, I would have also had that!

Hbh17 · 19/08/2023 22:16

Aged 58 and none. Why does it matter? We all get old and we look the way we look. Trying to look younger is all a bit obvious and may actually be interpreted as "trying too hard". It's more effective, surely, to be smart, interesting, well read etc?

notprincehamlet · 19/08/2023 22:26

Invisalign, laser hair removal, hair coloured and highlighted when I can be bothered, moisturiser and sunscreen. Botox and fillers scare me.
