What cosmetic treatments and aesthetics do you have?

Ladies and Gents, talk to me about cosmetic treatments and aesthetics? What do you like to have done and why? What's the cost?

I've always considered myself a bog standard, normal female but growing up I've never really been into cosmetics and aesthetics, probably because my mum wasn't and I lived with lots of boys. I wear make up and like to look the best I can but would say I am great at applying it. I look pretty rough without make up but tough.

I've never had Botox, fillers, my lashes or brows done, I don't tan. I'd love to experiment. I just don't know where it start. I'm 32 now and could probably do with the little bit of help.

So please tell me about your routines x

I have a good skincare routine
I paint my nails occasionally but can’t have them ‘done’ as I’m a nurse.
I sometimes fake tan at home.
I dye my own brows.
I wear minimal makeup daily and have regular hair cuts/colour.

I fancy a bit of Botox and micro blading but I’m too scared.

Yorkshireteaformethanks · 19/08/2023 22:28

Oh dear, here goes...
Breast Uplift age 30
Rhinoplasty age 40
Gel Nails every 3 weeks
Hair colour every 5 weeks
Botox from age 36, every 4 months
Lip filler - had twice but didn't last long.
Had an IPL machine for Christmas but get so bored of using it myself so will get some appointments booked for that.
Spa day with my best friend every three months ish (hot stone massage and Indian head massage are my usual treatments)
Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid daily on my face and neck. I wear light makeup daily and self tan occasionally. I've not tried any micro blading or false lashes as with the right products these are easy enough to do myself.

Acrylic nails. That's it. I'm considering botox though.

What are the injectables meant to do at that age though?! I mean unless you are trying to change something like very thin lips.

As I said I’m not anti it, but surely to need Botox you need some freaking wrinkles..

Preventative botox is very much a thing, in reply to your question.

Pixiedixiesnow · 19/08/2023 22:34

I’m 34. I use vitamin C serum and SPF 50 (generously, about two finger lengths) in the mornings. In the evenings, I apply tretinoin and moisturizer. I receive Botox treatments from a medical professional 2-3 times a year, aiming for a natural look and retaining some movement in my forehead (referred to as "baby Botox"). As for makeup, I tend to wear none. If I go out, I apply tinted moisturizer around my nose to address redness, a touch of blush on my cheeks, brown mascara, and brow gel to enhance the appearance of my brow hairs. I try to avoid applying the gel on the skin to prevent overly defined brows, although I don't always succeed 😂.

HangingOver · 19/08/2023 22:37

I have Botox and cheek and lip fillers... I LOVE them I look so glowy and healthy afterward. I'm naturally very skinny and as Ive aged I look gaunt. Even when I gain weight it doesn't go to my face. The fillers give my face a bit of shape.

HangingOver · 19/08/2023 22:38

I also almost never use make-up. Retinols sometimes.

YukoandHiro · 19/08/2023 22:38

None. Investigating Botox for migraine and if it has a happy side effect then so be it but it's not my style to get it done for cosmetic purposes alone.

Yorkshireteaformethanks · 19/08/2023 22:39

Im also smart, interesting and well read 🤨.

minipie · 19/08/2023 22:43

Hmm I’m 43 and not a lot. I’ve had my leg hair and underarms lasered but that’s more a laziness thing than a beauty thing. I do wear a bit of makeup daily, and get my hair done and toenail gel polish a few times a year but nothing more really. Had my eyebrows and lashes dyed once, was a bit pointless, had a wax once, too painful!

I’ve had acne for years which even the pharma “big guns” never cleared so that’s made me a bit sceptical of the effectiveness of most OTC skincare. However I use a prescription cream for my acne which has a retinoid in it so guess that’s something. And I’m trying to be better about SPF.

I might consider fillers at some point. Wrinkles don’t bother me but sagging does. But I also hate that all this is such a huge industry and yet another thing that is being added to the list of stuff women are expected to do just to look “normal”. So I’m conflicted.

Aged 58 and none. Why does it matter? We all get old and we look the way we look. Trying to look younger is all a bit obvious and may actually be interpreted as "trying too hard". It's more effective, surely, to be smart, interesting, well read etc?

Or you could be both?! Radical thoughts.

I didn't know doing my nails or getting Botox cancelled out my masters degree, career or love for literature. The more you know!

Careful OP, if you get a shellac manicure you'll probably lose a brain cell 🙄

Elephantsdontlikechocolate · 19/08/2023 23:06

1.Self respect.

  1. Not measuring own self worth against being desired by men
Don't start on any treatments, OP, it shows insecurity which is unattractive.
rhino12345 · 19/08/2023 23:12

I didn't think I was that high maintenance but reading this thread maybe I am 🤣

I'm 27.
-I use the Base Skncare kit (a recommendation from MN in fact) - it's an easy to follow kit I've been using for about 18 months and I can definitely tell the difference

  • I use st moritz face tan drops every three nights or so
  • I had braces and teeth whitening. Teeth whitening is great, paid about £350 for the set and I've still got enough to last at least another year doing it once a week
  • I have a brow wax every 12 weeks or so, and I dye my own brows before they're waxed. Also have Hollywood, leg and armpit wax at same time.
  • a bit of fake tan mousse when I'm going out or in the summer. I'll have a spray tan before special occasions.
  • just do my own nails in the evening before I get in bed and then it dries whilst i sleep!
  • hair I have done once a year. Full highlights (balayage) and a trim.

Considering Botox as a preventative measure but not completely sold on it!

Odingodof · 19/08/2023 23:39

@Wishesa what is that? To stimulate blood?

I'd absolutely love a proper massage the last time is got one was marrakech.
I'd really like a full body here but have no idea where to get one.

Op I do eyebrows with amazing lady and occasionally get underarm waxed.
I self wax around bikini line now and self die hair.

Odingodof · 19/08/2023 23:41

@rhino12345 I've just googled it. 170.
How long does it last for please.

Mirabai · 19/08/2023 23:48

I’m 52 I’ve never had Botox or fillers. I don’t have lines. It’s just good skincare.

I have my highlights done and hair cut regularly. I don’t like painted nails other than feet.

I prefer to spend my money on massage, craniosacral therapy, cranial osteopathy.

FreddiesTeeth · 19/08/2023 23:48

Dye my eyebrows weekly or they'd be white.
Haircut with moisturising treatment every 8 weeks or so.
Hollywood wax every 3 weeks in summer and every 4 weeks in winter.
Epilator on my legs and armpits weekly.
Hollywood Browzer on my peach fluff face whenever I notice that itsneeded.
My hair has very little grey and I won't be dyeing it.
I'm 58

mibid · 19/08/2023 23:51

I have filler under my eyes, I got it done two years ago and it still looks good.

I used to get my lashes done religiously, but it's damaged them so I've stopped.

Get my nails done when I'm off but I work in the NHS so not allowed them done.

Get a keratin treatment 2x per year.

I’ve got two degrees and still manage to care about how I look on the outside. It’s entirely possible to be both…

BMrs · 20/08/2023 00:00

I have a skin condition that has made me have to really look after my skin with a good routine. I introduced tretinoin 2 years ago and daily sof50 and it's had such a great impact on my skin (I'm 38). You can get a prescription online at dermatica.co.uk it's a
Monthly service that sends you out personalised skincare.

I also started Botox for my frown lines last year as I had a deep line from growing a lot in the sun and habit. Considering having my eyes done too but they're not bad just yet so holding off.

I do my own gel nails at home but only for special occasions and I occasionally apply fake tan (as my face is pale from sof50).

Interesting that you assume any woman who gets any form of cosmetic treatments is doing any of it for validation from others, or is even heterosexual. Internalised misogyny with a dash of homophobia is far less attractive, darling.

Exceptions permitted, excuse me for not spelling each one out - some women will do it just for self-harm reasons rather than to be attractive.
I have not once met a lesbian undergoing those treatments, and I have known a few. Nor a bisexual woman.
I have internalised love for women, you have misogyny and challenges with reading comprehension, along with racism, enablism and wokerism. Since you started on randomness. May be get another booster.

MissTrip82 · 20/08/2023 00:46

I’ve had laser hair removal on legs and armpits. Worth every cent. I buy expensive skin care.

But I cut my own hair. Everyone’s got their own line!

I also meet lots and lots of people whose ages I happen to know for work reasons and I laugh and laugh and laugh when people spout guff like ‘I’m mid 50s with no wrinkles’ hahahahhahahahahahahha if this is true you need to be written up in a medical journal because you are, truly, unique.
