Can you smell weed?

I can. (Skanky neighbours.) I seem to smell it most places now though. Much more frequently than just fags - hardly ever smell tobacco these days.

Is this just how things are now? ☹️

Yep at times it stinks around here . You can always tell the ones doing it as they stink ,look filthy and their skin looks grubby and disgusting.

Before lockdown, I was visiting a local hydroponics store. I was intrigued to see a family - mum, dad and two kids (one of each) under 10 getting some supplies in.

I did some back of the rizla packet (well, what I had left of it) calculations around the density of hydroponics suppliers within the area, and the volume of sales they needed to be achieving to remain solvent, and concluded that either people can't get the chillies they want from the shops, or home grown cannabis is a thing.

As a friend says: "I grow my own - don't want to mix with criminals". Which echoes the motto "dump the dealer".

This young man was growing his own so that he didn’t have to mix with criminals.

I'm actually really pleased you said this, as I had started to wonder if it was in my imagination! But in the last 12 months or so it has become SO much more common to smell it when out and about shopping, or even on public transport.....

I've always known that it's fairly common for people to smoke weed at home, and that doesn't shock me at all, but I am always slightly surprised by somebody casually walking around smoking it in public.....

Maybe I shouldn't be......

Have smelt it quite a bit regularly in my area. Last week a group of teenagers walked past me and it was like walking through a cloud, I don’t think they were older than 13/15.

The rest of the motto is "Don't sell, don't tell and don't smell".

YomAsalYomBasal · 20/08/2023 17:32

Literally everywhere. I seem to walk through a waft of it at least once a day. I work in a preschool and some of our kids smell of it...

Tillow4ever · 21/08/2023 11:11

I've noticed the smell of it everywhere lately. I've never tried it myself, so never realised what the smell was until a friend years ago commented on it as we walked past. It smells like cat piss to me! I often go out for a walk around my home town and I smell it everywhere now.

A week or so ago, a man stopped me on my walk. He asked me about where he could get some weed. I literally wouldn't actually know where I could get some if I wanted to try it so couldn't help him - but it did worry me that people no longer care who they approach about these things and my kids might encounter it in the future.

Yep, quite a lot. It smells disgusting. Much prefer tobacco smell as it's much sweeter and doesn't make me retch. If the police don't care, why not just tax it? The government can make a lot of money off it if they choose.
