Can you smell weed?

I can. (Skanky neighbours.) I seem to smell it most places now though. Much more frequently than just fags - hardly ever smell tobacco these days.

Is this just how things are now? ☹️

Quite often get customers at work who stink of it , I genuinely don’t understand how anyone thinks they can smoke it and it doesn’t linger on your clothes hair and skin . unpleasant smell , reminds me of fox wee.

CloudyMcCloudy · 19/08/2023 21:52

No tg

Mydoghealsmyheart · 19/08/2023 21:55

Our neighbours smoke it outside as they live in a rental property. The trouble is they smoke it directly under my DC’s bedroom window and it stinks! DC is asthmatic and I don’t appreciate them having to breathe in this toxic air. We’ve tried reporting it but nothing happens.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 19/08/2023 21:56

Given how many people smell it on others, there must be so many people who drive and smoke weed at the same time. It’s a scary prospect.

Yeah, I think it's great that it's getting normalised.

@CeriB82 what's vile about it?

It stinks

CherryPieMadness · 19/08/2023 22:00

None where I live. But I’ve travelled around the uk with work and places, cities reek of it. I don’t think it’s a good sign. I’ve been travelling loads of public transport and walking during the day, in some areas it’s everywhere and honestly it makes me sad, there are families with kids and it’s similar to seeing alcohol everywhere during the day. It’s people not coping, and making it worse.

ManchesterLu · 19/08/2023 22:03

Our next door neighbour has recently started smoking it, and it knocks me sick. I've been able to smell it plenty of times but never this close to me before.

woulducouldushouldu · 19/08/2023 22:09

I was for decriminalisation of weed until
I went to Canada.

Can handle smokers (just) walking around smoking but I got stoned walking down St Catherine's Street in Montreal (their equivalent of a Oxford Street) Walked out of the hotel at 8am into a fog of people smoking weed. Not nice

Just don't get it.

BodegaSushi · 19/08/2023 22:10

Smelled it today on a rare day off while relaxing in bed 😩 the smell gives me a headache

ElEmEnOhPee · 19/08/2023 22:13

Not right now. We have a couple of student houses next to us though and when the recent ones moved in they were smoking it all the time in the garden and the smell was getting into my kitchen and sons bedroom (even with windows closed). My son is very sensitive to smells (he's autistic) and refused to sleep in his bedroom because of it. I wasn't sure which house was responsible so went knocking the doors and everyone denied it was them, so I posted letters inviting them around to smell for themselves and explained I wasn't trying to be difficult but I couldn't have my DS going to school with his clothes stinking of it. It stopped straight away thankfully.

greenleader · 19/08/2023 22:22

Smell it pretty often in the area I live in. At times I think that about one house in every twenty or so emits weed smells during the evening. Can't stand the smell myself and so grateful that none of my neighbours use it, or at least not so that I can smell it.

Merapi · 19/08/2023 22:27

The ASBO neighbours that used to live up the road smoked a ton of it. The stuff was so strong you could get high just sitting in your own bloody garden. I quite liked the smell of it, but I sure didn't want it wafting into dc's open bedroom window in the late summer evenings.

stbrandonsboat · 19/08/2023 22:59

Children and pets are being exposed to it. Susceptible people can develop psychosis from using it. People are using it whilst driving - I've seen this myself. It has big demotivational effects and you turn into a stoner if you're doing it regularly.

You're supporting crime by buying it from dealers as well.

ThePoshUns · 19/08/2023 23:12

It's everywhere. I hate the smell, it's so sickly.

Helenahandkart · 19/08/2023 23:18

I love the smell. It smells like good times. On the other hand I find it repulsive when people walk past stinking of fabric conditioner and Febreeze.

catin8oots · 19/08/2023 23:26

Yeah my neighbour was standing out the front blatantly smoking a massive doobie tonight! Chatty as anything while we were all out looking for a lost dog. She's very nice and causes no probs. The drunks in the road over are far worse.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 19/08/2023 23:38

Yeah I can smell it in certain places and I live in a naice area. Went camping recently and definitely smelt it there. Used to have neighbours when living in SE London who smoked it and the smell used to come into my house 🤬

Xiaoxiong · 20/08/2023 00:09

Yes I smell it and I hate it.

I just listened to a podcast about there being tens of thousands of trafficked women and children, around a third from Vietnam, who are forced to run cannabis farms here in the UK as modern slaves. And the farms take over vulnerable people's houses, which is called cuckooing.

Every time I smell weed I wonder how the smoker can possibly be sure it wasn't grown by enslaved Vietnamese children in a house stolen from someone vulnerable.

girljulian · 20/08/2023 00:13

I live in an"idyllic" Cotswold village: absolutely everyone seems to smoke it here as the 81 year old lady who runs all the church activities grows it and shares it. I do think eventually it must surely end up being legalised as it seems so daft for it not to be at this point. It's a plant, how can a plant be illegal?

I don't smoke it myself and never have.

Redebs · 20/08/2023 00:28

Some poppy saps and coca leaf extracts are illegal too. They cause dreadful harm; that's why.

Elderflower14 · 20/08/2023 08:37

We get customers coming into the shop where I work reeking of it. Luckily or unluckily since I had Covid I can't smell as well as I used to...

Gnomegnomegnome · 20/08/2023 08:41

I much prefer the smell of weed to cigarettes and alcohol.

Sounds like saving grace 😂

Peony654 · 20/08/2023 08:43

Yes quite often. Doesn’t bother me. Should be decriminalised anyway, it causes far less issues than alcohol and tobacco

Tahitiansummer · 20/08/2023 08:46

Where do you think heroin comes from or do you think that should be legalised too?
