Can you smell weed?

I can. (Skanky neighbours.) I seem to smell it most places now though. Much more frequently than just fags - hardly ever smell tobacco these days.

Is this just how things are now? ☹️

@Annaishere it’s legal in Vancouver and the whole place smelled of it. Not convinced legalising it solves the issue and would just increase it.

78Summer · 19/08/2023 19:28

Sadly yes.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 19/08/2023 19:28

Yea, cheap nasty chemically enhanced skunk.

BusySittingDown · 19/08/2023 19:28

I can smell it often walking down the street. Meh, much rather that than normal cigarettes! Weed has huge health benefits.

gwanmen · 19/08/2023 19:28

Annaishere · 19/08/2023 19:26

I used to use it when I was young and I didn’t realised how badly it reeks. Even in a bag not used it does. I hope it’s legalised so people eat it instead. My downstairs neighbour smokes it and it actually comes up through the floors

Excuse my ignorance but why don't people just eat it instead?

Tiespin · 19/08/2023 19:29

No. Occasionally smell it when I'm out in town. Horrible smell like really bad BO

Theunamedcat · 19/08/2023 19:29

You do have some conversations with the weed smokers though apparently "I'm not paranoid" and it's "all on YouTube" "the corrupt government are covering it up" "it cures cancer" too but "the government don't want to cure cancer they are making too much money off the medication they are selling" just missing the point if it really did cure cancer the government could sell it like any other medication couldn't they

ohtowinthelottery · 19/08/2023 19:29

Not usually no but was at a festival last week and could smell it constantly - even when I was in my sleeping bag in my tent.

WhateverMate · 19/08/2023 19:30

Yes I work with the public and smell it every day.

Sometimes it smells like really strong fox's piss.

blackdogdays · 19/08/2023 19:30

Is there a strain of weed that smells a bit like rotting meat?

I smell plenty of weed around and then something that smells a bit like weed but also a rotting meat smell. I hate this smell.

Are there different strains that smell differently?

WibblyWobblyTimeyWimeyStuff · 19/08/2023 19:30

I agree loads of people seem to smoke it. The house adjacent to our back garden has 2 people smoking it 3-4 times a week, and DH's manager smokes it! Fucking foul, vile smell, and a slippery slope.

I don't know where these people get it from, but you can bet they know some dodgy people.

The smell makes me retch. I have had to close the windows at the back of the house to stop the smell getting in - when it's hot too! The people at the back who smoke it are in private let. I wish they'd fuck off.

IMO and IME it's the worst kind of people who smoke pot. No-one in my friendship group does. (Wouldn't be in my friendship group any longer if I found out they were pot smokers!)

I don’t know if you can just eat it raw but it would be horrible. The oil needs extracted and put into capsules or in to brownies and people can’t be bothered learning how and doing it

SpeedbirdSquawker · 19/08/2023 19:45

My next door neighbour smokes it in the garden and often lights up as I've put my washing out. She doesn't give a shit. This is all day long at the weekend too. All I hear is the click of her lighter every minute or so. She's only in her 20's but my goodness, her eyes are sunken and very dark. I don't know if this is the effects of the weed.

Other next door neighbours smoke it, although not too often, and they have young children. Next door but one sit in their garden all day long if not at work and smoke it. They also have young children.

Firefighter22 · 19/08/2023 19:45

Yes. Increasingly so. In my flats, on the bus, walking round town, walking round the park several times this afternoon in the local park.

Soubriquet · 19/08/2023 19:45

Next door seem to smoke some very potent stuff. It reeks

ShineBright1209 · 19/08/2023 19:46

Wow, you really hate it don’t you. I don’t smoke it and never have but have known quite a few people over the years who do and to be honest other than the smell I don’t really see what everyone’s problem with it is.
Just wondering do you ever drink alcohol?

Annaishere · 19/08/2023 19:46

I would like to try specific edibles to be honest for my insomnia

stayathomer · 19/08/2023 19:46

We were just talking about this today! Smelt around 4 places walking through town. It’s nuts!!!

Cowlover89 · 19/08/2023 19:52

Smell doesn't bother me

Laurdo · 19/08/2023 19:54

gwanmen · 19/08/2023 19:28

Some people do. You need to decarb it and infuse oil with it. Takes a good few hours. It also gives you a different high. Takes longer to take effect and lasts longer.

Zingy123 · 19/08/2023 19:55

Our delightful new neighbours smoke it all the time in the garden. It makes our house stink. It's a vile smell.

NoTouch · 19/08/2023 19:57

Can smell it a mile off.

Vile, just like the people who inflict the stink of it on others, most of whom don't give a shit who suffered so they could get it.

mintich · 19/08/2023 19:57

The stench is vile.
The difference with alcohol is that if someone is drinking in their garden, I don't smell it.
If someone is smoking weed, the whole neighbourhood smells like bad BO.

MixedTocopherols · 19/08/2023 19:58

We smell it around here from time to time. I once inadvertently passed through a cloud of it in the local park and even though I made tracks to fresh air immediately, it gave me a sick, dizzy feeling that lasted for about 10 mins.

God knows what was in it, but we are definitely not in the 90s any more and there’s some horrible toxic stuff going around.

LocalHobo · 19/08/2023 19:59

I'm amazed that 9 years ago I didn't recognise the smell (genuinely thought it was fox wee) and now I smell it around the globe.
