  1. too many men wearing no tops, but gold chains.
  2. a lot of swearing
  3. a lot of tight fitting dresses seemed a bit hot
  4. kids in uncomfortable shoes bad for their feet (no good for walking about)
  5. teens in hoodies - it was 27 degrees
  6. lots of missing teeth in adults
  7. queues too many of them

Brilliant observations, good work well done.

Supercat65 · 12/08/2023 06:00

I'd say it was Ingoldmills, but you didn't mention having to dodge mobility scooters frequently.

PS I deffo had time to observe standing in the queues. A lot of people buy fast passes I noticed and then because they can’t just put on people with fast passes they also end up waiting. So it’s like load a ride with a third fast passes then ordinary people (like me would you believe).

That’s how fast passes work 😄 that’s literally the idea, I don’t really get your point here.

I have never noticed what you describe at a theme park, and I am a snob. Mainly talking legoland, chessington and Disney world.

OP is no different from other posters wanting to holiday somewhere ‘naice’ which is shorthand for ‘without loads of stereotypical brits abroad’. Equally no different from the posters asking where to avoid living on moving house threads.
Agree about the oh so sanctimonious comments. We know exactly what kind of people OP is talking about and doubt many of us want to spend much time with them.

cuckyplunt · 12/08/2023 06:43

I bought my DH that gold chain, he has a fabulous body, I am proud when he shows it off.

Can't tell if this is light hearted or not so I'll bite anyway.
You sound worse than all of your numbered points for coming away from what is a supposedly fun day (if that's your thing) judging other people.
You're not very nice and you need to get a life.

OMG and you need to get a grip 🙄

Velvetstraws · 12/08/2023 06:47

I'm with you OP. It sounds like a chavtastic day out...😀

Go to Disney instead, id rather go to Florida on e than Alton Towers every week

Disneyland Florida on E would be incredible, I agree

This thread seriously makes me not want to even go out or interact for fear people seriously may think my teeth are missing due to heroin or fighting?! Or I’m a chav?! Wow. Lost them due to life saving surgery :/ Would you comment on someone’s hair loss? Or an amputee? My missing teeth have really damaged my confidence and this is why. So much nasty judging.

I’m sorry to hear this, please don’t let the judgmental people put you off going out. For every one of them, there are a thousand non judgmental and kind individuals, believe it or not. It’s just that the former group seem to gather on mumsnet to spill out their bile and make people feel miserable

ItsJustASimpleLine · 12/08/2023 06:56

Flamingo Land? We had similar experience. As it's a caravan site attached there were dogs wandering round too. Nearly jumped out of my skin when two dogs started fighting behind me at one point. My brain just wasn't expecting dogs.

Also as its the resort for the caravan park there was a lot of day drinking going on.

We still had a good day but a very different experience to the Merlin resorts/Paultons/Disney/Gullivers. All of which I would fully recommend. Particularly Paultons and Gullivers Valley.

You were forced to mix with The Great Unwashed??

The horror. How did you survive this trauma
?

😂

At the theme park today I saw a woman forcing open peoples mouths to count their teeth, shaking her head at teens in hoodies and being a bit creepy staring at peoples bodies, then recording it all in her little judgy notebook. Now it all makes sense. She took no notice of her kids and didn’t look to be enjoying herself. She pissed people off and I heard a few people say I hope she gets stung by a wasp. 😅

😂

Yes, people.may be missing teeth for many reasons.

As a kid a day at a theme park would be the extent of our 'Summer holiday,' and my Dad would have worked bloody hard to pay for it.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to comment on what you noticed...not everyone is blessed to be you.🙄

The last time I went to the Pleasure Beach there was a family with 3 young daughters. When the dad turned around he had

Jesus
gets
me
fanny

written in big letters down the back of his calf. Those poor girls when they’re older and the other kids at school see it.

This.

I bet they are all happier than you anyway.

Are you super judgemental and critical too?

sarahjaneg · 12/08/2023 07:27

Shame not everyone can afford centre parcs!

AmeliPoison · 12/08/2023 07:28

I was in a theme park because one of my DC loves them and they are too young to go alone and yes it was very chavvy.

CherryMojito · 12/08/2023 07:34

I just googled sliders and apparently they're what I call flip flops.

So I've learnt something new today.

Incidentally, what is wrong with wearing sliders/flip flops? I used to live in SE Asia and they were the only kinds of shoes I wore, even to work. When I moved back here wearing shoes with backs hurt my feet.

AmeliPoison · 12/08/2023 07:36

Flipflops are the ones with the bit that goes between your toes. Sliders are sliders.

CherryMojito · 12/08/2023 07:38

I still call them flip flops. I hadn't heard the word sliders being used for footwear before.

@Window82 if it was Drayton Manor I'll tell you what we saw.....

It wasn't Drayton Manor if it was 27° yesterday, or long queues on a weekday - even during holidays. DM is a little rough but you get loads of goes on everything. We like it better than the Merlin ones where you spend the whole day standing in line.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 12/08/2023 07:41

nonamebetty2023 · 11/08/2023 23:10

No offence to anyone but it does sound like Blackpool 🤣🤣

The queues at the Pleasure Beach are not that bad in comparison to other theme parks IME.

queenMab99 · 12/08/2023 07:43

Having been to the dentist yesterday, and given a price of £600 for a necessary crown plus the cost of £100 for the checkup and a clean, there will probably be many more people with missing teeth, from now on. No NHS dentistry available, as I lapsed my regular visits as advised during the pandemic, no point in sitting in a dentists waiting room when you have no problem with your teeth and are clinically vulnerable. They only have one dentist in the monthly payment scheme they advertise, and he is not taking on any more patients.
I can afford it luckily, but fear for others not as fortunate. Mind you people who cannot afford dentistry, should not be splashing out on theme park tickets, they should know their place!
Personally I would rather stick pins in my eyeballs than go to a theme park, and heartily judge people who spend their money and time in such places.

GoodChat · 12/08/2023 07:44

I'm laughing at the fact you commented on ath-leisure wear. That's the perfect option for a day at a theme park. Comfortable, light and will dry quickly after water rides.
