Nicest celebrity you've ever met?

Mine is Mel C / Sporty Spice,

Met her recently in a totally non-celeb type situation and - with hindsight - should probably have left her be. But the inner 1990s teen in me was compelled to approach her. Was completely starstruck since having a girl crush on her since the mid 1990s so said hello.

She was SO NICE, chatty, just lovely, down to earth friendly and beautiful.

Really even more in awe of her than ever now, tbh.

Jona Lewie - absolutely lovely and down to earth guy.

Bez - mental as you'd expect, but really nice.

Demelzat · 12/08/2023 22:29

King Charles is an odd one. He's a friend of a close friend of my parents, so I get the odd insight. On paper, I like him, and he can be sweet and oddly endearing. However, there is (unsurprisingly probably) a spoiled, petulant side that is less pleasant.

I'm a stone-cold Republican and would ditch the royal family tomorrow, so I'm commenting purely on my perception of the person, rather than a starry-eyed view of the monarchy.

Another vote for Gordon Ramsey. Also Chris Evans (DJ).

HannibalHeyes · 12/08/2023 22:50

Chris Evans was very up himself when I met him.

HannibalHeyes · 12/08/2023 22:50

Taller than I expected though...

I’ve met a few celebs but the ones that stand out

Jimmy Carr - just the absolute nicest, funniest man. Very quietly spoken and just seemed so genuine.

Russell Brand - I used to work in a supermarket years ago and he was a regular. Hilarious - like naturally so, and so bloody handsome in real life haha.

Ian Wright - just all round wonderful. Done an event at my work and answered so many questions, took the time to get to know people and had such a fun, cheeky sense of humour.

I love Ian Wright so much. What a lovely man. That film clip of him meeting his old teacher is wonderful.

Sir Bobby Robson!!! An absolute sweetheart and total gentleman! He was doing a book singing at Waterstones in Newcastle when I was 18 and at uni., I walked past and just saw a handwritten notice on the door! Ran in, bought his book and queued to get it signed! It was in the days before camera phones as gutted I couldn't get a pic! But he was just lovely!

XenoBitch · 12/08/2023 23:03

Levar Burton. He plays Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation. I used to go to comic cons a lot and he was there.

I was a nervous wreck meeting him (I grew up on ST:TNG), and he was so interested in me and what I liked about Star Trek, and where I lived etc.
Later on, I was picking up my photo of myself and another guest, and he came up and put his arm around me and asked about the photo. I totally geeked out! It was a lovely moment and I will remember it forever.

ScarlettBeauregarde · 12/08/2023 23:11

@Wenfy what did she say? So jealous, amazing woman.

MonkeyDoodles · 12/08/2023 23:21

Love these threads. I used to be neighbours with a member of the honeyz She was very down to earth. Was quite surreal when she said I may see members of 911 or bewitched arriving at her house here and there as she was still close with them all.
Also met Richard Branson, he was polite enough, extremely tall!

Bob Holness! I was an extra once on a show he did, it was an outside filming job on a chilly day and he had brought along some of those wee hand warmer sachet things that you snap to make them warm so that we could all have some to put inside our gloves. He was a total sweetie.

Lifeinlists · 12/08/2023 23:35

Timothy West and Prunella Scales popped up at a church service when they were appearing at the local theatre.
They were absolutely lovely, stayed for coffee afterwards and chatted along with lots of people. Very down to earth and friendly.
It's sad to think that Prunella Scales now has pretty advanced alzheimer's.

RavingStyle · 13/08/2023 00:00

I had a few 'moments' with Marti Pellow in the late 80s, just as he was becoming famous; he was gorgeous, great fun and very caring for others.

Michael Sheen is lovely, have met him several times.
Ray Winstone is very nice and gentlemanly.

2023issucky · 13/08/2023 00:06

Mel C was lovely when I met her many years ago. Sat and chatted about our children. Very down to earth and friendly.

recyclemeagain · 13/08/2023 00:28

Has anyone met Emma Bunton? I always wonder what she's like in real life. Or any of the other Spice Girls. I want to know now we know how lovely Melanie C is!

Wilff · 13/08/2023 03:01

Aren't they like the rest of us with good days and bad days. One person's encounter could be completely to another's..

beguilingeyes · 13/08/2023 09:04

I always loved Michael Sheen, but he too has joined the much younger woman club. He's 54, his girlfriend is 27.
I bloody love Ray Winstone. I still would. His Henry VIII was unintentionally hilarious. A friend of mine was at Drama school with him and always said he was a sweetheart.

ivfbabymomma1 · 13/08/2023 21:25

I third / forth / fifth lady gaga! I served her once whilst at uni and she was an absolute gem

katseyes7 · 04/10/2023 20:15

I don't know if l'm in the right age group for this thread, but - Mick Ronson.
He was the lead guitarist with The Spiders From Mars (with David Bowie) back in the 70s.
Absolutely lovely guy. Incredibly humble, modest and unassuming.
And a perfect gentleman. My best friend and l met him quite a few times, and he was a total sweetheart.
I've met quite a few more recently well known people with my ex's job (he's in the music industry), and we met David and Angie Bowie back in the day too, they were lovely, but Mick was our all time favourite.
I remember one time some young lads waiting outside a gig as he arrived, telling him they'd travelled a fair distance to see him, and he seemed genuinely incredulous and surprised that people would do that.

katseyes7 · 04/10/2023 20:20

*Liam Gallagher

He gets some stick for the things he says/how he acts, but dh and I found him really friendly and funny. He was chatting to us and the locals in the pub like old friends, no airs or graces.*
I've met both Liam and Noel quite a few times, Liam is always the same, exactly as you said, he's funny and very down to earth.
Noel was a bit hit and miss. Fine some days, a bit full of himself on others.
Their mum is lovely, though. Very nice lady.

I met Mel C very recently in a totally civilian situation. She was absolutely bloody lovely. Really down to earth and kind even though I'd blatantly interrupted her day in a startstruck teen of the nineties daze,

@nicestcelebs I'm so happy to hear that, she always seems very genuine and like she truly appreciates everything she has. I love that she was as sweet in real life as she seems in interviews ♥️ Thanks for sharing this.
