Nicest celebrity you've ever met?

Mine is Mel C / Sporty Spice,

Met her recently in a totally non-celeb type situation and - with hindsight - should probably have left her be. But the inner 1990s teen in me was compelled to approach her. Was completely starstruck since having a girl crush on her since the mid 1990s so said hello.

She was SO NICE, chatty, just lovely, down to earth friendly and beautiful.

Really even more in awe of her than ever now, tbh.

I'm glad that Lady Gaga is nice. I'm also glad that Anthony Head has ALREADY appeared on the thread, given that 1 in 3 MNers have met him and find him utterly charming. I assume it will be my turn soon Grin

The nicest celeb I've met is Julian Clary.

LunaNorth · 10/08/2023 02:43

Bloody hell, that’s the first time I’ve read Cilla’s name on a nice celebs thread!

She’s usually the devil incarnate, according to MNers!

Louise303 · 10/08/2023 03:32

Thierry henri,Frank Lampard and Cesc Fabregas were very nice and friendly also Olly Murs.

Squirrelsnut · 10/08/2023 04:21

Stephen Fry was very nice.
I saw Donald Sutherland queuing for a taxi at Waterloo Station once; it was a biggish queue and he was smiley and chatty with those around him.

Lady Gaga. So down to earth and captivating when you talk to her. She makes you feel like only your voice matters

I remember the Graham Norton show whet lady Gaga and June Brown (Dot from Eastenders) met. The two of them got on extremely well and Lady Gaga was just lovely with June.

Dawn French. She is absolutely gorgeous, hilarious, just lovely. She basically plays herself in the Vicar of Dibley 😇😂

Limetreee · 10/08/2023 06:12

Richard Madeley. Very friendly in a natural way. Looks great too.

AussieKoala01 · 10/08/2023 06:18

I met Emilia Clarke once in a bookstore, I didnt recognise her at first with her natural hair, but she was absolutely lovely and I wish we could be besties lol

Fbshe · 10/08/2023 06:30

I can’t for the life of me remember her name, but the woman that played Hayley in Corrie.

LubaLuca · 10/08/2023 06:35

Vicky McClure was as normal and down to earth as you'd expect. I met her at a charity event, she was acting no differently to how anyone else does in a room full strangers.

suburbophobe · 10/08/2023 06:46

For the reggae lovers here, Busy Signal was absolutely fabulous. Hung out with him for about half an hour.

Norma27 · 10/08/2023 06:46

I worked in a small theatre for a while. John Challis was so lovely. It was so sad to hear he passed away.
Jasper Carrott popped in on a comedy evening to practice his new material so the audience that evening got to see him unexpectedly. He was lovely too.
Both their wives were friendly and chatty with us too.

Janefx40 · 10/08/2023 06:50

@ArianaGrande tell me everything about meeting Slash! I love that man. Been a lifelong fan x

snoozeyoulosecruise · 10/08/2023 06:58

Anton Du Beke, checked him into a hotel and he was just lovely.

snoozeyoulosecruise · 10/08/2023 07:03

Ooh and Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle) was fab too, shocked (my young naive) self as he had a posh accent in real life and it never crossed my mind that he might!

Newnamehiwhodis · 10/08/2023 07:05

Patrick Stewart
Steve Martin
Queen Noor

iloveeverykindofcat · 10/08/2023 07:06

In my twenties I met quite a lot of bands and musicians. The members of Fall Out Boy are genuinely lovely (and short). James Dean Bradfield was disappointingly arrogant. That one was a let down as I absolutely love the Manics.

Princess Diana. Funny, warm, friendly, chatty......an absolute delight

Spidey66 · 10/08/2023 07:36

I've said it before, but I was introduced to Neil Morrisey by a mutual friend (who unfortunately has since died.) He drinks in our local and was very close to the mutual friend. Neil is lovely, very down to earth and friendly. He's just known as Neil down the pub. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth and it shows. No airs and graces.

renthead · 10/08/2023 07:38

Queen Noor

@Newnamehiwhodis This is fascinating. Tell me more!

Noorandapples · 10/08/2023 07:42

Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury) I disagree with her personal politics but she is really very warm and lovely with a very genuine feel about her

ArianaGrande · 10/08/2023 08:29

@Janefx40 He was completely normal, really friendly and a few of us went to the pub with him. This was in Cardiff. No airs and graces!

Goatymum · 10/08/2023 08:40

Victoria Wood (RIP). So friendly, I was gutted when she died. I don’t usually get personally sad when I hear of a celeb death but with her I had the feeling of when I hear about an acquaintance dying if that makes sense.
