Nicest celebrity you've ever met?

Mine is Mel C / Sporty Spice,

Met her recently in a totally non-celeb type situation and - with hindsight - should probably have left her be. But the inner 1990s teen in me was compelled to approach her. Was completely starstruck since having a girl crush on her since the mid 1990s so said hello.

She was SO NICE, chatty, just lovely, down to earth friendly and beautiful.

Really even more in awe of her than ever now, tbh.

What happened there! Neil and Michael Elphick (RIP).

I've said it before, but I was introduced to Neil Morrisey by a mutual friend (who unfortunately has since died.) He drinks in our local and was very close to the mutual friend. Neil is lovely, very down to earth and friendly. He's just known as Neil down the pub. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth and it shows. No airs and graces.

To be honest, I wouldn't expect Neil Morrisey to be born with a silver spoon in his mouth or have airs and graces. He's hardly a Hollywood a lister! But glad he seems like a nice bloke.

Used to work a lot with celebs. My very favourite is Jonny Vegas just delightful

Mabelface · 10/08/2023 09:05

Clive mantle, ex casualty and Robin Hood. Really lovely, chatty man.

I live near Julie Hesmondhaugh and chat with her reasonably frequently. She's lovely, as is the actress who plays fizz.

Bloody hell, that’s the first time I’ve read Cilla’s name on a nice celebs thread!

She’s usually the devil incarnate, according to MNers!

Must have been my charm 🤣
Seriously, we walked into a small bar, well known in holetown Barbados & she was sitting on a long seat across the wall. I noticed there were 2 places next to her. There weren't many sests available so I walked up to her & said is it ok if we sit here. She gave a huge smile, patted the seat & said yes. I thought she was lovely, very smiley 🤷‍♀️😊

Princess Diana. Funny, warm, friendly, chatty......an absolute delight

How lovely 😊

I’m very pleased to see Mel C’s name in the OP as my DCs are distantly related (3rd cousins) to her…… so they share part of her lovely DNA. My ExH discovered this when researching his family tree in Liverpool, but we’ve never actually met her.

I haven’t met many celebrities, but Rio Ferdinand was staying at Centerparcs when we went last year. I didn’t approach him, but he gave me a lovely smile one day, and you could just tell he was nice just because of enjoying being amongst the general public.

Ainsley Harriott. Such a lovely guy.

I also met Ross Kemp - he was pretty pleasant but wouldn't say overly nice.

👍😊

John Cleese I worked in a cheese and wine shop years ago and he was a regular. Just utterly.lovely. served him or colleagues served him multiple times and he was never anything but polite friendly and nice.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/08/2023 09:36

Steve Backshall, unsurprisingly!

Third cousins isn’t very distant, that means your in law and her grandparent are first cousins. 🙂

MrsMarzetti · 10/08/2023 09:40

Mick Hucknall is so so lovely. Dave and Si the Hairy Bikers are the nicest blokes you will ever meet.

Weefreetiffany · 10/08/2023 09:45

Michelle Visage. Not to blow her cover as a vampy maven but honestly lovely and down to earth.

BeverleyMacker · 10/08/2023 09:54

Most of the stranger things cast we've met so far are lovely.

Kiefer Sutherland is the loveliest guy and gives the best hugs 🥰

Worst...
Boy George and Corey Feldman.

@SirVixofVixHall

You are correct 🙂

My DCs paternal grandfather is first cousin twice removed to Mel C.

SunRainStorm · 10/08/2023 10:09

Shane Warne.

charismatic and genuine.

I was really sad when he died.

sawnotseen · 10/08/2023 10:14

Boy George - he's a great friend who I've known since I was 15, I'm 52 now, still friends with all the family

Thisisme23 · 10/08/2023 10:14

Matt and Luke Goss.
I'm a fan and have met them several times. Matt more. Both very charming and can be cheeky and funny. They smell absolutely bloody amazing too!!! (and give the best hugs)

Wenfy · 10/08/2023 10:17

I used to take the same train as Jeremy Clarkson for a while and he was so, so friendly.

Ncute Gatwa is another friendly one - he’s probably the only celebrity who proactively asked me if I wanted a selfie lol. When I said I’m not into selfies he bought me a drink.

But the prize goes to Michelle Obama. I met her at an extremely expensive woman’s self help conference that I had won tickets to. During her event I asked a few questions related to some of our shared experiences and afterwards she took me aside to give me what was essentially a 30 min mentoring session. It proved invaluable and is probably the only reason why I’m professionally and personally successful now.

Michael Palin - he really is as nice as he seems.

Agree.

I met him at a function. I'd stepped out into a quiet corridor to get away from all the overwhelming noise and professional socialising for a while, and he had done the same thing. I apologised for disturbing him and turned to leave, but he invited me to stay, and we chatted for about half an hour before returning to the event. Really nice.

Barch1 · 10/08/2023 10:25

Peter Egan. Absolute gentleman in every sense.

onefinemess · 10/08/2023 10:25

I have been around a few through my job (I don't work with them, but my job means I am sometimes within earshot for considerable periods of time) and I sometimes have to do the usual introductions and small talk for a few minutes.

Of the "famous" people I have been around, I have to say that the nicest was Richard Hammond, he's just basically lovely, very kind and happy to chat about anything and everything.

The next nicest has got to be, and I'm not joking, but Post Malone is just so bloody nice, not at all like he might seem from his music and videos. I'm not sure what I was expecting him to be like, but fucking hell, the guy's astonishingly friendly, you'd honestly want to take him home to meet your Nan.
