How many people does a frozen garlic baguette feed

In your house?

A friend who is a competitive underfeeder claims 1 baguette feeds 2 adults and 4 teenagers. I say she’s fucking ridiculous.

I’ve eaten half of one whilst typing this so assume there’s a middle ground

Unless it’s similar to the mumsnet chicken

If with pizza or lasagne then one between 3 or 4 but if with soup then half a garlic baguette each, though some would eat a whole one each.

I works for us as one adult and 2 dc but we have large portions of pasta and always a filling salad with avocado/mozzarella as well as the leaves, cucumber etc or we might need more

determinedtomakethiswork · 07/08/2023 23:36

Most teenage boys could eat one of them while they were waiting for the dinner to be served up

EveSix · 07/08/2023 23:42

Two adults, a teen and a 10 year old. We had one earlier. You get about 3 'slices' each (including the end bits). We usually have one with meals that are high in carbs anyway, so not necessary to have more.

Am I the only person who thinks the ends are the best slices?

Yes, they are all hard and not garlicky enough or buttery enough.

Snugglemonkey · 07/08/2023 23:58

We eat one baguette between us. We only have it as a side, so would also have pasta and salad/veg, so 1 is alright. Dc7 actually eats more than the 1 adults.

HollyFern1110 · 08/08/2023 00:05

For me, DH, 2 adult DSs (who are past their peak teenage appetites) and 11 year old DD we would use 2 baguettes.

If only 4 of us were eating you might find a couple of end pieces left over.

1 baguette for an entire family that size is bonkers. Unless she means she's buying a large baguette from the bakery & adding garlic butter herself?

Standard baguettes have 9 slices including the end pieces, so how does that work out to be 3 slices each for 4 people?

I’ve just gone to put the second one in the oven for lunch and there’s no garlic butter in it! My GOD! I’m horrified

Totally depends on what its accompanying. We are 2 adults, DS(19) who is only here half the time and DD(14).

I'm diabetic and eat low carb so only allow myself 1 slice (the temptation to eat the whole thing is strong) so I just do 1 usually if it's with pasta or lasagne but if it's a side for something like grilled chicken and DS is here I will do 2.

Now I'm craving garlic bread!! Thanks OP! 😂

Bellac, clearly we're not mad keen on garlic bread 😀We get the Lidl ones, and although I said "3ish" I'm happy to concede perhaps someone only gets two pieces.

None. You have to cook it first.

2 to 3.

DaphneDeloresMoreheadRidesOn · 09/08/2023 22:58

Depends what you're eating with it, surely ?

garlic baguette on its own = serves 1
accompanying a light dish such as seafood and salad = serves 2
accompanying a hearty lasagne with salad - serves 4

that's my serving anyhooo
