How many people does a frozen garlic baguette feed

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 07/08/2023 18:26

In your house?

A friend who is a competitive underfeeder claims 1 baguette feeds 2 adults and 4 teenagers. I say she’s fucking ridiculous.

I’ve eaten half of one whilst typing this so assume there’s a middle ground

Unless it’s similar to the mumsnet chicken

About half a person, according to ds. He's 21, eats like a horse and never puts on an ounce!

Mind you, dh was the same at 21. He's not now Grin

2 adults but we might leave the end bits.

Scoop the bread out the end bit. Eat. Then fill said end bit with pasta. Eat.

Moveoverdarlin · 07/08/2023 19:31

2 adults. When I do one for 2 adults and 2 young children there’s never enough and everyone moans that they didn’t have any. We also row over who has the stubby end bits.

bluechameleon · 07/08/2023 19:32

We do 1 for 2 adults and 2 children (5 and 9) but we won't get away with that for much longer, they would.hapimy eat 3 slices each.

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/08/2023 19:34

2 people, 3 at a push. I don’t eat bread anymore unfortunately as it doesn’t agree with me.

Mousehoel · 07/08/2023 18:28

I could eat a whole one.
If being polite I could share it with another adult.

Same. Don't like being polite though.

fullbloom87 · 07/08/2023 19:38

It does max 4 people in our house. But then it's on ever as a little side dish for a big pasta main. My husband and children would probably eat a whole one if I gave it to them.

pamplemoussemousse · 07/08/2023 19:41

3 kids (not teens), her poor kids must be starved!

caringcarer · 07/08/2023 19:42

If served with a huge homemade lasagne and salad maybe 2 slices per person. If served with a small meal half a Baguette per person.

Tessabelle74 · 07/08/2023 19:44

5 of us, 2 garlic breads. Usually ends up as 3 slices each for the kids 4 for me and my husband

RagzRebooted · 07/08/2023 19:45

2 between 5 of us (2 adults 3 teens) isn't enough, 3 is a bit too much (though we always eat it all!). Just allow for fewer carbs on the main meal (no, DH, lasagne doesn't need chips AND garlic bread).

These frozen ones

@IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece we have these exact same ones in the Nordic country I live in and we do 2 for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 3 and 1 because they’re literally half air…if we have friends round we do a garlic bread per 2 people plus one for the table. Love this thread!

Also if your friend is Danish maybe it’s a Nordic thing as my MIL insists one frozen pizza can feed 4 adults and 2 kids…

Arniesleftleg · 07/08/2023 19:49

I could eat one on my own, at a push, two adults.

How big is the baguette she's feeding her family? 6 ft?

midnightrecovery · 07/08/2023 19:55

CatsSnore · 07/08/2023 19:07

Sounds a great double carb 😋😂

It wasn’t as bad as I expected, but it felt wrong. 😂 Everything is a double carb in Florida. I had a carbonara pizza too.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/08/2023 19:57

We just had one as a side with pasta bake. 2 adults and 2 teens as a side.

ShowOfHands · 07/08/2023 19:58

Two adults
One 16yr old
One 11yr old

A single baguette's enough for a couple of slices each.

ICanSeeMyHouseFromHere · 07/08/2023 19:59

3 polite as a side, 2 greedy as a side, 1 as a snack.

notacooldad · 07/08/2023 19:59

Depends who is around. If it is Dh or either of my adult sons they will eat one without thinking about it. Me, I'll give a full one a go as long as I'm not having anything else!

Cucucucu · 07/08/2023 20:02

Feed ? None , it’s not a meal , it’s something you eat alongside a meal and I normally do 1 baguette to 2 adults ( again accompanying a meal ) or an adult and 2 kids .

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/08/2023 20:17

Obviously it’s a side and not the main meal…

In our house (one adult, one teen, one 9yo) we’d probably eat more than one but less than two. So would end up either not having enough (if only made one) or throwing some away.

inky1991 · 07/08/2023 20:26

My MIL is also a competitive under eater, and she feeds 5 adults with one baguette. She also weighs out pasta/rice etc exactly to the serving suggestion on the packet.

Needless to say I am constantly starving when I stay with her

abcdefghijklmnopandthatsit · 07/08/2023 20:29

13yo DD & 11yo DS "share" one with DD having about 1/3 and DS the rest. If I'm quick, I can snaffle a slice before DS demolishes it. DS did have one to himself recently but decided he couldn't actually eat it all.

WHAT? We could easily eat one between two of us. If not being greedy I'd say 3 people. Definitely not 6. WTF 😂

PuttingDownRoots · 07/08/2023 20:39

When we lived in Germany I discovered Spaghetti Bolognese Pizza. True carb heaven and absolutely amazing, especially with plenty of cheese.

Garlic bread... if having pizza one between 4 is fine. Orher things... definitely 1 between 2.

RoseDog · 07/08/2023 20:42

2 baguettes between 4 adults and the dog
