A friend who is a competitive underfeeder claims 1 baguette feeds 2 adults and 4 teenagers. I say she’s fucking ridiculous.

I’ve eaten half of one whilst typing this so assume there’s a middle ground

In my house one baguette is served for 2 adults and 2 kids age 5 and 8. To accompany a boring mid week dinner like spaghetti bolognaise. I’m sure my family would prefer more garlic bread, but it’s not happening.

Sometimes we have the in-laws over and then I would do 2 baguettes even though it’s just an extra 2 adults. There is never any left over.

Depends - do you mean the mini baguettes that are about a foot long or an actual proper size baguette?

In my world the ends cannot count as a proper slice! Crunchy, bready and not enough garlic!

2 adults and 2 teens if served with spaghetti Bolognese or lasagne. I usually only have one slice though so the teens get the lions share.

I cook two for a family of four, based on half each but if the main is big I'll just do 1.

we normally have it with a main meal like pasta, lasagne, chilli.

Could easily have half each between me and DH but stretch it over two meals so we can have it with leftovers the next day.

So I’d say 4 adults if with a proper meal.

Both my teens like the ends so it usually works out 3 slices each if you include them. I don't like the end pieces.

That means they get a single piece each. Doesn't really seem worth the effort for that.

The packets claim there are 4 portions. But that's about keeping under calorie/traffic light rules, not normal human beings eating, especially as there are usually 7 slices including the crappy end pieces.

Realistically, they serve 2 as something other than a garnish.

DH and I share one. And if there were two in the packet I tend to cook them both so the other can be had Later aka immediately after finishing the first one.

We've got 2 adults, 3 teens and 2 toddlers and would always cook at least 4. My son who is 14, could easily eat a whole one alongside his meal 😳

@Inastatus 1 slice? I think that's a lot. I try to eat half a slice but it takes about 20mins and then I'm too full to eat anything else.

Has anyone ever made those TikTok garlic baguettes where the splodge a load of spag bol and cheese on length way cut baguettes and put under the grill? I really want to try it but not sure if it would just be sloppy and a bit gross.

They look like the mini foot long baguettes, in which case I'd say max 2 adults. But I have been known to do one per person.
