Another day of rain due here - seems to be worst in the weekend lately.

Don't want to spend the day indoors moaning about it.

What is everyone up to today if your also facing a rainy day?

@garlictwist You’re so lucky to live in the Lakes. I’d never been until this trip, and just fell in love. Wonderful part of the country.

We’ve knocked camping on the head for tonight - going to do a garden campout tomorrow, and toast marshmallows etc. the campsite have very kindly agreed to let us move our booking which is amazing of them. I didn’t tell them this when I emailed, but FiL was hospitalised earlier this week with a possible stroke, and it’s been a difficult week all round,
especially for DS who has ASD, and has been struggling with the uncertainty and stress in the house. He’s been acting up at his kids camp and we’re worried they might ask him to leave, which would make it so he’d for me to work over the summer, and DH is of course very upset and getting frazzled with having to update everyone about his dad (he too has some unspecified neurodivergence, we believe, and finds it all very shrewdly). DS was so disappointed to not be camping tonight as he’d been looking forward to this trip for weeks, so I’m just so grateful that we’ll be able to go another time instead 😍

School shoe shopping for DC this morning followed by a late bfast by the lake cafe.

Bit of tidying when we got home and now we are all chilling. I've got the Netflix fireplace on the tv going and reading my book with the sound of the fire going (wish we had a real one but it's close) and rain outside. DC and DH gaming. Tonight is movie and spag bol.

We had a lie in, went out to walk the dog, stopped off for brunch, did some shopping and now we're back home.

I'm in the bath and DH is making himself a snack. Animals are all fed so time for a lazy afternoon!

Clothes shopping for what I suspect is going to be a cold, wet holiday next week. Now thoroughly depressed, as I saw my back in the changing room mirrors and can't believe the rolls of back fat I didn't know I had 😞

Sorry to hear about your FIL Spudlet and asd challenges. Glad you got camping moved. Asd non stop gaming here and grunting at the idea of leaving home but at least he's OK on his own for a few hours.

We now have a plan for today. Going swimming, sauna and jacuzzi, steam room and moving Sunday lunch forward to today. Maybe some hoovering and doing some accounts. Tomorrow is sunny here so can do flower show and gardening and chickens that day.

The rain's dried up for now so we are off to the outlet for a wander after all 😊 First stop sweetie shop I think for treats for tonight 🍭

Lidlfix · 05/08/2023 14:35

Glasgow to watch cycling, take in the atmosphere. Pubs, good food. DH in in heaven with all the other bike wankers Smile

Spudlet · 05/08/2023 14:41

Thanks @Silkierabbit He’s in the right place and they’re looking into what on earth is going on, but it’s been a big shock to DH. FiL is a widower so there’s a lot of concern about how we’re going to manage to make sure he’s safe when he comes home. BiL lives a couple of hours away so has come to stay with us until we know what’s going on, so he’s on our living room floor on an airbed! So it’s all been a lot of change for DS to process and we’re all a bit stressed out.

Onwards and upwards though - this afternoon we’re going to pop into the town where the hospital is and try and get DS some school shoes and polo shirts while DH goes to visit. SiL and nephew have come to
join us for the weekend so they’re sorting food out tonight which is good. DS has built a new Lego model so he’s ok, and DH and I went on a very soggy dog walk so we’re ok. I’m running with my club tomorrow morning, then we’ll get the tent pitched when the rain clears and get a fire going ⛺️🔥

Currently snuggled into my mum's blanket (for some reason I find it so much more comforting than any of mine) whilst the 1 yr old DD is generally funny and entertaining us all. Lovely rainy afternoon

at the same place? I've yet to try this, the Docks or Willen lakes are a few options. I'm going to Parkrun with DD as I keep missing it for OWS myself

No, two different places but not too far apart. I really want to do the Victoria Dock run/swim at some point. I haven't swum at Willen, but I'm told it can be quite weedy.

tt9 · 05/08/2023 15:12

I'm resolved to spend the day indulging myself. currently drinking coffee in bed while looking out into the garden. hoping to cook a roast in a bit and spend the day eating and chilling.
