Another day of rain due here - seems to be worst in the weekend lately.

Don't want to spend the day indoors moaning about it.

What is everyone up to today if your also facing a rainy day?

Love these threads. Wet & windy here in Cornwall although we’re getting the odd flash of sunshine. I’m not feeling very well. Have ongoing problems with my lower back & it’s particularly painful today - probably wasn’t helped by sitting on a hard backless bench last night. It’s making me feel really sick. I was going out for the day with DH, dropping DD14 & her girlfriend at a festival first, but he will go alone now. It’s a shame as we don’t get a lot of “us” time & we would have had a nice lunch somewhere. Think I will snuggle up & watch Celebrity Masterchef. Ham & cheese omelettes with a few chips for tea if I’m feeling better.
Have a good day everyone & stay dry if you can!

Working at the local football stadium - it's the first game of the season.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 05/08/2023 09:26

I've just wiped the oven pride off one of the ovens and thankfully it's done its miracle. I'm going to descale the coffee machine and this after I'm now planning a Harry Potter marathon while scrubbing the grout in the kitchen and dining space. Not exciting but I did a small area last weekend and it looks so much better....

Doremisofarsogood · 05/08/2023 09:33

Drinking tea on the sofa contemplating getting ready soon, going to meet friends for a boozy lunch then drinks and dinner. DH and DD are still in their pits and will probably stay there!

Countrydiary · 05/08/2023 09:33

DH assigned me a long lie in as I must have been looking even more strung out than I’ve felt with family bereavement, elderly ill parents, busy work and usual summer holiday chaos. So I’m currently still in bed!!

DH and DD about to scuttle in the rain to the library for the reading challenge.

We’re heading to in laws who haven’t been well, though they’re insistent on giving us lunch which doesn’t seem like the right way round but not worth the argument.

Rest of family are then going to the see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie whilst I shop for holiday bits (never felt less appropriate looking for t-shirts and snorkels in this weather).

Wearegoingtoneedabiggerboat · 05/08/2023 09:34

Currently sat by myself in our hotels bar, enjoying a coffee by myself. DP still in hotel room catching up with sleep apparently my snoring was really bad last night. 🥴 we are off to Cornwall for a week this afternoon. Not bothered about the weather we have waterproofs. My thoughts are always whatever the weather on holiday it beats work by a million miles

Hidingawaytoday · 05/08/2023 09:39

Housework and life admin, while DH entertains a toddler. I'm not sure who's got the better deal tbh 😆

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/08/2023 09:41

Going to a waterpark 😳

Girasoli · 05/08/2023 09:42

Pottering about doing housework while DC play on the living room and DH is at the supermarket.

When he gets back we are going to the shopping centre as both DC need either summery trainers or sandals for our summer holiday, then DH will take them to soft play while I do the rest of the holiday shopping in peace.

endoflevelbaddy · 05/08/2023 09:43

Camping in a field 😂
Will find a pub later set up camp with the kids and a deck of cards until it picks up later.

BiddyPop · 05/08/2023 09:43

About to. Go to shops to get supplies for a nice cooked brekkie. Then going surfing once tide drops off the rocks as the main storm has already passed over here.

Kim82 · 05/08/2023 09:54

The weather is awful here today, absolutely pouring down and doesn’t look like it’s going to stop all day. Dh is at work then going for drinks for someone’s birthday straight after so I doubt I’ll see him today as I’ll probably be in bed before he gets home.

Dd18 is working 12-8, dd15 will probably stay in bed til mid afternoon as she has no plans that I’m aware of. Dd9 stayed at her friend’s across the road last night so isn’t here at the minute but I’m taking her and said friend to watch Barbie at 1.30pm (my other 2 girls have already seen it).

Then it’s back home, quesadillas for tea and I’ve bought some cookie dough so we can have warm cookies for dessert. Ds22 is coming round this evening and once dd9 has gone to bed and dd18 gets home from work I’m going to open the wine and have a movie night with my 3 eldest. I’m looking forward to it.

HowNice23 · 05/08/2023 09:56

Boys at their dads this weekend. My partner is coming down to stay the night so probably pub and a curry and a few bits of home admin like putting washing away and folding towels.

caringcarer · 05/08/2023 09:58

Just sitting at home waiting for DS cricket match to be called off yet again. Not sure why it's not already happened.

nsjeoqlxkcj · 05/08/2023 09:58

We were intending on taking the children swimming ( we even told them this) but it's booked out so..... it'll probably be cinema or a drive somewhere for lunch

golddustwomen · 05/08/2023 10:02

Absolutely no idea. We did cinema and soft play during the week so ideally don't want to end up down that road today. Cinema not too bad, just £££ and can't justify spending the money again in the same week! And soft play is hell on earth Grin

Currently drinking tea whilst the dc are colouring and drawing. Maybe some board games later and will have to pop to Asda for something for dinner tonight. Although lots of last nights pasta dish left over (tried new bbc good food recipe, was the blandest meal I've ever cooked) so should really eat that tonight but I don't want too Grin

golddustwomen · 05/08/2023 10:03

Forgot to say - it's absolutely pissing down here, again!

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 05/08/2023 10:05

I've just nipped into town wearing my dryrobe.

Got a couple of weird looks..

It's huge but I'm no ashamed. It keepse 100% warm and dry..

mrsneate · 05/08/2023 10:06

Celebrating our friends 40th birthday. In a city centre. Thankfully transport is organised and booked! Just need to rethink my outfit!

Ladyoftheknight · 05/08/2023 10:07

Our bath leaked into the kitchen below last night, so we'll be dealing with that for the rest of today/the weekend. Hope everyone has a better weekend than us!

(Although I am slightly excited at the idea of getting a new kitchen, but don't tell DH)

Giggorata · 05/08/2023 10:07

Going into hospital for a scan. 🙁

Hopefully, going to dinner with friends later on. We planned to put up my new rainbow tent in their garden, but that's off, due to the weather.
So we will congregate in their conservatory, where the rain will drum like a monsoon. Might as well enjoy it.

SnakeBasket · 05/08/2023 10:10

I'm in Devon so I'll be keeping a watchful eye on the trampoline and hoping it doesn't lift off and fly away. I bought an anchor kit but the ground is so wet I'm not sure how effective it's going to be.

Silkierabbit · 05/08/2023 10:13

Currently drinking tea in bed and DH and I are playing with our Maine Coon cat. Need to think of something more sensible to do but it's very rainy so gardening and the flower show is pushed backed to tomorrow. Maybe we could go swimming or clean house.

honeyandfizz · 05/08/2023 10:14

Seiheiki · 05/08/2023 07:23

Sending love to you and your family today

Thank you x

EsmeeMerlin · 05/08/2023 10:14

We have been out every single day of the summer holidays and are knackered so we are having a rare lazy morning. No one is dressed yet. We do have to go out later because ds1 has a football party. Will also pop into town to pick up some bits we need.
