Really I am done with it..where I am it has rained every day (bar literally two days) since the beginning of July plus it's been windy and cool and now the nights are getting darker earlier it just feels gloomy! And it's not even (just) August yet.
Feel so sorry for kids on the school holidays and parents trying to cope. It's just pants.

We are due to go to the French alps for our holiday in two weeks. Hiking, kayaking and wine drinking. Weather is changeable there at the best of times but I had thought I wouldn't mind that as the scenery would make up for it and we have enough summer at home for me to not miss it too much. Now sincerely wishing we had just booked a package holiday to somewhere hot where we could just sit on sun loungers all day and get some reliable sun.

I'm a dog Walker and sitter currently. It's my busiest time. The dogs are covered in mud. The house is covered in mud. I am covered in mud. I expect this in March. Not august!

Dry, blue skies and sunshine all day today in Cheshire.

Dry, blue skies and sunshine all day today in Cheshire.

I'm so jealous. Today was the only day scheduled to be dry and sunny according to the weather for the next two weeks and it's been drizzly and grey. I'm so desperate for some blue skies!

Glad that some people are getting bits of better weather. It's slightly brighter here at the moment, in that it is a dry spell in between showers. Due to rain this evening though.

Dh optimistically booked a local outdoor thing tonight as the forecast was ok earlier today before the storms forecast tomorrow. Just checked at 8pmits now due to rain heavily just as we arrive.

Comedycook · 01/08/2023 19:16

Well it was a nice sunny day here in London today...I got some washing dried...but it has just bucketed down and is now chilly and drizzly

AnSionnachGlic · 01/08/2023 19:34

I hear you......I'm in West of Ireland and its 12-15 degrees most days, grey skys and RAIN! Yesterday it was officially announced on news, that Ireland has had its wettest July on record, so it's not our imagination. I'm sick of watching the weather forecast daily, hoping for some respite, but instead it's " rain clearing from the West, followed by heavy showers/downpours" !!😭

TheaBrandt · 02/08/2023 06:05

Woken up …to the sound of rain.

If those hopeless water companies ever dare mention the word drought they prove their incompetence!

YourNameGoesHere · 02/08/2023 06:11

I've also been woken up by the sound of torrential rain battering the windows.

Am currently hiding under the covers mentally psyching myself up for this morning's dog walk the dogs going to be thrilled when he sees it's raining again, he's just as sick of it as we are.

Got into the car yesterday and spotted a patch on our grass that in the autumn grows some spectacular fungi / toadstools , yes they were there ! 31st July and not autumn 🍁🍁🍂🍂

Look at this beauty 😍

Great photo @Ihateboris
Another windscreen wipers on my glasses day today Sad
We actually managed a dry day yesterday, but back to normal now..

BovrilMartini · 02/08/2023 08:09

Forecast thunder and lightning here for the afternoon. I was so shouty with the kids yesterday and I’m sure part of it is the weather. We need to get out of the house properly.

And yes we own waterproofs so we could wrap up and go the park but it’s not as much fun as grabbing the football and getting an ice cream is it?

Bonfire23 · 02/08/2023 08:09

Thunder and rain last night. Woke up to.. more rain

Whinge · 02/08/2023 08:11

Another one here who woke up to torrential downpours.

Surely even those who like the rain are sick of it at this point? Confused

Findyourneutralspace · 02/08/2023 08:13

Yep. I was looking forward to giving my tumble dryer a break over summer. No chance so far.
I was also woke by thunder and rain last night.

Franklin2000 · 02/08/2023 08:16

Yep, very wet here (Yorkshire). My poor mother has DS while I work, she’s been running to the park in between showers as he doesn’t like too much time inside.
I love the sun and the heat, cold, wet and grey just don’t do it for me.
We go abroad Saturday, I can’t wait. We had a day at the coast this time last year and it was so warm and sunny DH started getting all misty eyed about a uk holiday this year. I’ve had my share of rainy caravans and freezing tents so thankfully said no way!

Poivresel · 02/08/2023 08:18

SW France here. Cool and rainy most mornings, have managed some sun in the afternoons but rather windy. Last year we were sweltering in the heat!
Strangest weather in six summers here.

Piranhaha · 02/08/2023 08:18

I paid a fortune for my kids to go to a sports club with amazing facilities and huge fields - which they can’t use because it’s raining. They’re in the hall every day doing crafts and colouring in. So disappointing and not what I paid for at all.

AhhSlippedOnMahBeansRitaaa · 02/08/2023 08:25

Well this certainly feels accurate now as it rained on July 15.
Torrential rain today but rain everyday for the next 7 days for where we are😫
My children are 9 and 4 and I can't drive 😭😭

We had a brief moment of actual daylight yesterday evening and it perked me right up!

2 hours later, back to dark and raining. Woke up at half 6 to rain. Still raining. Forecast to stay all day. I've a 45 minute walk to work this morning, soooooo looking forward to spending the whole day wet and cold as a result, before then walking back home in the rain.

Excitingnewusername · 02/08/2023 08:33

It's also 11 degrees here right now.

Whinge · 02/08/2023 08:54

Excitingnewusername · 02/08/2023 08:33

13 degrees here, and torrential rain. Right now I think anything over 20 degrees and dry would feel like being abroad. 😂

Alighttouchonthetiller · 02/08/2023 09:09

Hammering it down here. The lanes and fields are flooding. The harvest looks wrecked to my untutored eye.

But come on everyone! Never mind! Pop your wellies and waterproofs on and let's all go for another jolly country walk! What's that? Your wellies and waterproofs are still soaked through from yesterday? There's no need for negativity! Pop them on (yes, I know it's tricky to get your arms into a sodden cagoule but listen to the lovely squelchy sound you feet make in your wellies!). Come along - just the ten mile walk today and then we can have some lovely hot chocolate under a cosy blanket and feel sorry for all those other boys and girls who are on a beach in Spain feeling far too hot and probably getting sun burned, and are certainly not getting the wonderful experiences you are having looking at dripping leaves, wet squirrels and acres of lovely mud!

This made me laugh so much I spat my coffee out. Thanks for cheering me up on yet another wet, dull and cold day in Cheshire 😁
