Really I am done with it..where I am it has rained every day (bar literally two days) since the beginning of July plus it's been windy and cool and now the nights are getting darker earlier it just feels gloomy! And it's not even (just) August yet.
Feel so sorry for kids on the school holidays and parents trying to cope. It's just pants.

These people saying it’s good for the garden What’s the point of a flaming garden if you can’t ever sit in it to enjoy it?

We away in two weeks to somewhere with risk of fires but frankly fuck it at least it’s not grey. Should be ok by then anyway.

Absolutely. We bought posh garden furniture last year and used it loads.
It was out for June this year but hasn’t been used at all since

Oh god. The cheery 'just put on waterproofs and splash in the puddles' stuff is as annoying as those comatose hot-chocolate-drinking blanket-snugglers.

I don't think it's totally unreasonable to express a wish for a bit of sunshine. I don't want to wear waterproofs all summer and slop through mud pretending it's all fucking marvellous and let's make a lovely den from these soaking wet bloody sticks, darlings. I want to sit in the sunshine with my book.

This made me laugh 😂 I hear you!

Autumnal here too at the minute and I just want to be able to walk and have a coffee in the garden. The rain never stops at the minute!

CarnelianArtist · 01/08/2023 08:53

It's OK here. It's cool but not raining all the time. We're not on fire like parts of Greece or permanently putting fans on and worrying about sunburn. I agree its annoying if it rains all day though, then kids don't go out much.

Work2live · 01/08/2023 08:53

I’m not a big lover of summer, more of an autumn/winter lover, but my god I’d like just one nice day.

We’re in the north west and the relentless rain and grey skies are making me depressed. It’s 13 degrees here this morning.

I don’t mind this weather in November and will happily chuck my waterproofs and walking boots on to get the dog out for a walk. But it’s nice to break the year up with some sunshine, and two weeks of it isn’t enough.

Covidwoes · 01/08/2023 08:56

@Alighttouchonthetiller you are my people! 👏

starrynight19 · 01/08/2023 08:59

Yep thirteen degrees and more rain and howling wind this morning. Booked an escape room thing and lunch out for us just to escape the house so that’s the entertainment budget for the holidays gone in one day.
The dog can’t even muster up the enthusiasm to go outside anymore he is just sat in his bed.

I love it, Thoroughly dislike the heat, but love rain and cold, so far this summer has been good to me.

gogomoto · 01/08/2023 09:25

According to the bbc we might be getting a reprieve from the 9th in the sw... im at a folk festival then so really hoping they have got it right

But you literally get the other 9 months of the year to be cold and wet!

maddiemookins16mum · 01/08/2023 09:30

It was so miserable last Friday, I put my Oodie on when WFH.

Comedycook · 01/08/2023 09:30

I remember a similar thread ages ago going on about cosiness....one poster said something like, I don't want to be cosy...I'm not ill. 😂i agree with that. We have about 9/10 months of sodding cosiness in the UK.

When the weather is nice, you have options. You can go out and enjoy it and eat outside etc. If you don't like it, you can stay in on your sofa. Wen the weather is crap, your options are so limited. It's also so expensive to entertain kids in bad weather. On a nice day you can take them to the park or beach with a picnic and just let them play. In bad weather, you might have to go to indoor places like soft play, trampolining, bowling etc and it costs a fortune.

RuthTopp · 01/08/2023 09:33

Got into the car yesterday and spotted a patch on our grass that in the autumn grows some spectacular fungi / toadstools , yes they were there ! 31st July and not autumn 🍁🍁🍂🍂

Could they be magic mushrooms? That might help a bit 😂.

Agree!
I know British summer time can be erratic but it's not unreasonable to hope for some dry days, maybe even a balmy 20° +. (There's a long way between being warm enough to be outside for much of the day and uncomfortably hot)
The thing about indoor activities too is that they're time limited. You don't spend all day at a trampoline park or the cinema for example - you pay for 1 hr or 1 film (maybe 2 hrs) ....and then what?....probably going to a cafe to spend more money! For younger children you can often spend half a day - or more- outside if the weather is good.

Hello August. Good morning rain, wind and 13 degrees. Humph

It’s not great but it is the weather, not like we can do anything to change it , global warming aside, just have to make the mostof it

Ultraviolet85 · 01/08/2023 10:15

I don’t mind this chilly/ drizzly weather if it’s Halloween/ bonfire night, in fact I love wrapping up and embrace it.

However- this is a piss take for July/ August!!

We just don’t seem to catch a break with the weather here in the uk and who wants to bet when the kids go back to school we will get a glorious September?

Mistymountain · 01/08/2023 10:17

I had my winter jumper on yesterday!

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/08/2023 10:21

Vettrianofan · 01/08/2023 06:59

Don the wellies and get out there! Don't let the weather get you down. Just embrace it. I need to get out walking for mental health reasons and I have several children so I need to get out. We do woodland walks. It's very liberating being the only daftie out walking in this type of weather 😂

@Vettrianofan

no thanks

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/08/2023 10:21

Manifesting a heat wave - come on!!
I want to wear nice summer outfits

QuestionableMouse · 01/08/2023 10:22

Not made it out of bed yet. It's chilly and damp feeling - genuinely think I'm going to have to stick the heating on for a bit because of it! Poor cats are cold too!

Totally fed up - just had to order new trainers because mine are so wet I'm pretty sure they're ruined.

as I say I’m really trying to manifest a HEAT WAVE, bring it on ☀️

The farmers are struggling to get their crops in but hey, as long as you are OK then it doesn't matter if food prices go up again.

And you get your favourite kind of weather most of the year.
