Really I am done with it..where I am it has rained every day (bar literally two days) since the beginning of July plus it's been windy and cool and now the nights are getting darker earlier it just feels gloomy! And it's not even (just) August yet.
Feel so sorry for kids on the school holidays and parents trying to cope. It's just pants.

I have just come back from Ireland to Southern Germany .It rained every day while I was in Ireland .One evening we even turned the heating on as it was so cold.We had 38 degrees here when I left mid July and it is now 18 degrees and raining outside with no end in sight according to the weather forecast . It seems there is no happy medium anywhere this year.

I am loving the weather this summer. Rain, sun, rain, sun, about 20-22 degrees in the day

Good for you. We aren't getting those temperatures or the sun where most of us on this thread live. We don't all live in the South East. We are getting 16/17 degrees or lower which is just not warm enough to not wear a jumper.

@Vettrianofan read the post before yours. It is not fun being out in torrential rain. How do you not understand that?

I'm in the SE and definitely not getting 22 here either, the relentlessly cheerful posters are doing my bloody head in. This is people's livelihoods at stake here, crap summer after all the COVID hell, it's really not funny.

YorkieTheRabbit · 01/08/2023 10:41

1st August, 14 degrees feels like 11 due to the wind and of course it’s raining.
Im generally an upbeat person, love being outside in the garden. However it hasn’t stopped raining for weeks, the garden is absolutely soaked, I’ve got shrubs that have been totally flattened from the nonstop wind and rain
Im sick of getting soaked when out with the dogs, they’re fed up of it. We had almost a months rain in two days last week.
Happy Yorkshire day

Oh god. The cheery 'just put on waterproofs and splash in the puddles' stuff is as annoying as those comatose hot-chocolate-drinking blanket-snugglers.

I don't think it's totally unreasonable to express a wish for a bit of sunshine. I don't want to wear waterproofs all summer and slop through mud pretending it's all fucking marvellous and let's make a lovely den from these soaking wet bloody sticks, darlings. I want to sit in the sunshine with my book.

Spot on!!

RampantIvy · 01/08/2023 10:53

Up to 40mm rain forecast for tomorrow. Met Office said wet weather here to stay Sad

And I don't want to splash about in wellies in torrential rain @Vettrianofan.

whoruntheworldgirls · 01/08/2023 10:57

I'm utterly fed up with it, put the patio table and stools back in the garage last night, used it 3 times in nearly 3 months and doesn't look like it'll get used any time soon.
I'm leaving the patio sofa's out for now in the desperate hope that when i get back from holiday we have some good weather.
Sick of running round the garden grabbing laundry when the un-forecast rain appears, taken to just using the tumble dryer now.
Sick of wearing waterproofs/hoodies/dressing gowns etc, i should be in tshirts!
I have everything crossed those of you off on a UK holiday soon have a great time and the weather is kind to you. 🙏

DancingInTheRaindrops · 01/08/2023 11:06

.The best thing for me is that the noisy family next door are not venturing out in their hot tub and bar, been lovely and peaceful. Don't have to hear them putting world to rights for hours at a time or constantly arguing when they've had a few drinks.

Crikeyalmighty · 01/08/2023 11:26

@Alighttouchonthetiller bang on- it's all a bit Enid Blyton - I feel the same about people who have choice but could never go anywhere but Cornwall or rural Wales -- personally I don't care if I go to neither again

LittleMissUnreasonable · 01/08/2023 11:30

It's really crap and it's honestly doing nothing for my mental health. If anything, my mental health is worse now than it was in winter because at least we had a bit of a break from the constant rain. We got foggy mornings, snow and crisp fresh light days. At least that broke things up. Now it's just cold, grey and raining constantly. I'm bloody fed up.
And no, I don't want to put my waterproofs on in July or August. I want to be able to walk 5 minutes to Aldi or cut my grass without getting piss wet through

RampantIvy · 01/08/2023 08:23

It's official. I live in the top third rainiest areas.

Number 6 for me

yellowsmileyface · 01/08/2023 11:44

It sucks. I've pretty much given up on getting any proper summer days again this year.

For months during the freezing cold winter I'd been so looking forward to sitting out in the garden with a glass of sangria, park picnics, outdoor swimming pools, new summer dresses, feeling the warm sun on my skin.

To think that I just won't get that, and I'll have to cope with another loooong winter of seasonal depression before I get to experience summer again is really deflating.

caringcarer · 01/08/2023 11:57

Me too, July was a total washout. DFS had most of his cricket matches abandoned. I just hope August is better.

caringcarer · 01/08/2023 12:00

Lifesapurpledream · 31/07/2023 22:51

@Upsizer yes the slugs and snails are in their element. Also suddenly have an earwig problem - do they like the damp or is it because it’s my first year trying out dahlias.

Earwigs just love dahlias.

caringcarer · 01/08/2023 12:02

I really feel for the people on holiday with small children as Nd having to spend a fortune trying to keep them amused with indoor activities.

Salixflamingo · 01/08/2023 12:18

Actiongirlalltheway · 01/08/2023 10:42

Spot on!!

The puddle splashers and comatose hot choc drinkers are the same people!!!! This year has been entirely for them and them only 😭

WhatNoRaisins · 01/08/2023 12:29

If it wasn't for the kids I might be tempted to do the comatose hot chocolate thing but it's not happening in reality.

Actiongirlalltheway · 01/08/2023 13:02

I've just seen the forecast, I almost feel like I could have a little cry (not really but wtaf?). Yet another low pressure over us at the weekend 😞

Actiongirlalltheway · 01/08/2023 13:02

Those poor poor farmers

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 01/08/2023 13:18

It's fucking raining AGAIN!

Kids got half an hour in the garden on their slide. Now back indoors doing painting.

These six weeks are going to feel really fucking long.

SquirrelSoShiny · 01/08/2023 13:30

I honestly nearly put the heating on this morning for an hour before I had a shower!

RazorstormUnicorn · 01/08/2023 14:22

My SAD is in full swing which just seems really unfair for the summer.

We power cleaned the shed in June and planned to re-stain it the next time we had a dry weekend 🤣 that's not happened yet! Not got out on my paddleboard either, as the two times it hasn't been raining it's been too windy!

I'm utterly miserable with no blue skies even when it's not sodding raining. I've started researching if I could move abroad, but I don't think DH job is ready for him to be a digital nomad.

I am v v lucky to be off to blue skies in September (California so probably dodging wild fires). I'm trying not to wish my life away but it's hard.

Totally understand the need for blue skies. I'm not even particularly bothered about temperature although I prefer warm. But I need blue skies. Nothing worse than totally grey sky

WeAreBorg · 01/08/2023 14:45

I just want exact seasons - hot and sunny summer with the odd thunderstorm to clear the air. Mellow autumn with sunshine and mists, winter - snow. Spring - showers allowed, I don’t complain about them then.

Thinking fondly of the 38deg heat last year and lying in our paddling pool at 10pm cos we couldn’t sleep. Aaah memories

kessiebird · 01/08/2023 15:05

This thread has cheered me up weirdly! Sick of DH minimising it. Just hope it's a bit better in later August, no end in sight in the NE.

IsThePopeCatholic · 01/08/2023 15:12

Sunnyish and warmish today in SE!
