Is there truth in when someone says something when they're drunk? friend texted me whilst drunk.

Friend is away for a couple of days for a stag do. He doesn't normally drink so guessing not much would render him quite drunk. Last night I received a text at 1am but didn't see it till this morning. It was written terribly with a lot of typos and repeated letters in words so took me a few moments to understand what it said. The coherent version...without some random stuff at the beginning..

"Juyetii, poppy. I miss you. I wish you were here with me. Its so fucking beautiful. So so beautiful. Is it too late to tell you how I feel. You're the one. Let's go back to the beginning. I'm just wasting time. I know it might be complicated but it doesn't matter. it will be okay. I'm too fucking scared to tell you. I wish you feel the same.

I haven't received anything from him yet nor have I replied. I don't know what to make it of it really. Im pretty sure he was drunk when he sent it. Does he actually mean it if he was drunk? Do I bring it up / ignore it?! I've been thinking about it all day!

People often say things when drunk that they would never dream of saying when sober. If it were me I'd ignore and delete it. He probably won't remember sending it anyway. Be careful not to spoil the relationship you have based on one drunken text.

Thanks for the update. I wish you every luck in what's looking like the start of an amazing journey for you both. Everyone needs love in whatever form and with whomever, the religion aspect is just one part of a person, that just needs respect from each other. Ps. See I said should I get a hat 👒 🤔 🤣

I totally get it. If you had told me even a few months ago that id be snogging my friend, I'd have laughed. I'd never ever do that! No way José. Like I said in my previous post, he wasn't even expecting a kiss. He actually said are you sure you want to do that, we really don't need to, you know. And he asked me if he could hold my hand because he knows me. I don't do that sort of thing.

But you know what, I've been straight laced all my life and I really really like him and I want to make a go of it and if that means breaking some rules then so be it. Because the alternative would be to say sorry, no can do, I'm Muslim and turn him away and the chance to be with him and I don't think I could bear to do that.

Can't read the deleted post obv but due to aforementioned marriage to a Muslim man I have Muslim SILs who I am very close with. Two are divorced, one with kids and she doesn't want more. Both of them have changed their perspective on men/dating/marriage since having bad first ones. They feel they did it 'properly' first time and it didn't work out so now they give themselves more leeway to do what they feel is right rather than what the rules say. There is also less to lose now they aren't virgins 🤷🏼‍♀️ and nobody expects them to be.
be kind to yourself and take happiness where you find it.

This is a lovely thread! All I’ll say is when you’re happy and in love then nothing else matters. He sounds like a lovely man and you a lovely woman. (Too much lovely here!).

I know some Asian Muslim women who saw divorced. I understand what you’re saying though.
