Is there truth in when someone says something when they're drunk? friend texted me whilst drunk.

Friend is away for a couple of days for a stag do. He doesn't normally drink so guessing not much would render him quite drunk. Last night I received a text at 1am but didn't see it till this morning. It was written terribly with a lot of typos and repeated letters in words so took me a few moments to understand what it said. The coherent version...without some random stuff at the beginning..

"Juyetii, poppy. I miss you. I wish you were here with me. Its so fucking beautiful. So so beautiful. Is it too late to tell you how I feel. You're the one. Let's go back to the beginning. I'm just wasting time. I know it might be complicated but it doesn't matter. it will be okay. I'm too fucking scared to tell you. I wish you feel the same.

I haven't received anything from him yet nor have I replied. I don't know what to make it of it really. Im pretty sure he was drunk when he sent it. Does he actually mean it if he was drunk? Do I bring it up / ignore it?! I've been thinking about it all day!

Well, if he didn't mean it, i'd carry on with my life but if he did mean it, I would be absolutely amazed. He is gorgeous inside and out but he's way out of my league for reasons i won't go into and so i have never entertained the idea amongst other reasons. And he is right, things would be a little complicated.

Don't do yourself down OP. If he likes you he likes you. Text him back do you really mean this? If so let's talk. Complications can be discussed.

I would just reply and say “Let’s talk about this in person when you get back”. Gives him time to sober up and if he wants to he can say he was drunk. Or maybe he will stand by his words and you can snog his face off. Totally jealous btw!

Sounds like he's being summonsed to the headmasters office after class!

I'd keep it light so he can back out if he realises it was the booze talking (though I'm always painfully truthful when I'm drunk so he might have been too).

Maybe something like... Ohhh, I wish! But alas... tell me it's not the booze talking🤞😉

Are you sure it isn't that someone else grabbed his phone and sent it without him knowing? Is there anything that confirms it isn't a prank by some of the people he's with?

I think the detail on him being too scared to tell you suggests it's not just the drink. Could he have taken anything else though? I've only not been able to text like that with something stronger... and something stronger could amplify real life feelings. I can't believe you've left him hanging so long! Poor guy will have the most intense cringe hangover. Put him out of his misery! You could text back in drunken style 'i Miss you tooi I feel the same' and if he texts back 'WTF, I didn't even remember sending that' then you can say you were just taking the piss/were also not sober 🙃.
