Dropped my beautiful anthropology mug so looking for a beautiful replacement. Something striking, arty and beautiful.

Any suggestions anyone?

Could you repair it with Sugru? Did that with two favourite mugs recently and it worked great.

I dropped it over the side of the bath and it shattered.

So it's a no, sadly.

You have my sympathies OP, I live in fear of my favourite mug breaking, it’s a bit of merch from my favourite podcast, The West Wing Weekly. I had to pay import tax from America and a fee for paying in dollars on my debit card so it must have ended up costing over £40.

These ones from Habitat are good, but huge. They’re nice and chunky and have a good weight to them, and under £5

Eek! I have a horror of Octopuses (Octopi?), especially the sucker things, so those on the handle are just horrendous to me. Each to their own though!

FletchingStraight · 27/07/2023 22:43

I'm with @Sprig1 Morrisons china mugs are perfect - a proper big size for your first cuppa of the day & the right weight & thickness. Ive bought more expensive ones & they're lovely but I've just broken my absolute favourite & am distraught. I'm off to Morrisons tomorrow to replace!

I'd go to TKMaxx/Homesense for a rootle, they have beautiful random cups/mugs and you can test the weight/feel of the handle/width of the rim (all important factors for that perfect cup of tea, right?!)
I have a preferred cup for Yorkshire tea, one for mint tea, another for tea when I'm gardening, tea in the morning vs the evening...it's a science.

Oh yes, completely agree. And I cannot drink tea out of a mug reserved for coffee, and vice versa!

ElleLeopine · 27/07/2023 22:49

Whichever you decide on, can I suggest you purchase more than one, so you have a backup in case of future disasters?

Love this comment. Different cups for different teas! Sounds like the poster has studied this subject well...

I love this!!

My daughter had some mugs disappear from the kitchen at university, so we did extensive googling to find replacements. The M&S octopus ones up thread were on the list as were these from Anthropologie

Oh wow, yes, absolutely beautiful! Though the company name could be a worry, given the OP’s original mishap😆

Whittards mugs were always my go to but they're not making the best ones any more!

Have you checked ebay? I've found replacements on there!

I agree. They used to be lovely!! I love mine from 25 years ago.

LuciaMimi · 27/07/2023 23:27

Am a bit shit at links, but I love Hannah Wrendale mugs. Also Emma Bridgewater anything is good!

TenOhSeven · 27/07/2023 23:29

I like these but it really bothers me that the sandcastle is upside down when drinking. #issues

Why am I enjoying looking at everyone’s mugs so much?? - I don’t need mugs but really want some now. Come back and tell us which ones you get OP, I want to live vicariously!

Kisskiss · 27/07/2023 23:47

Fix it with a kintsugi kit! Might be even more beautiful than before

ChittyBangabang · 27/07/2023 23:50

Such beautiful suggestions

Thank you so much everyone

This is from T2 pricey but every cup of tea feels special.

Gorgeous design.

However, I'm having conniptions at it teetering that close to the table edge...
😮🙂
