Is the Royal Mail where you live, only delivering once a week not daily?

Surely this can't only be happening - in my central London postcode. I am expecting an important doctors appointment in the Mail and I'm annoyed how infrequent they are delivering. Is it just my local or is it widespread?

I'd be very surprised. I'm in the sticks and still get daily deliveries.

Pixiedust1234 · 24/07/2023 23:53

I don't get mail that often anyway as I'm signed up for the anti junk thing but I had post on Saturday and today (Monday), and I think last Wednesday.

Surrey - only one delivery per week for the last few weeks. Tricky when awaiting important paperwork!

Berkshire here - near Reading - and we get daily deliveries.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 25/07/2023 00:04

Maybe they are short staffed due to holidays or sick leave.

we still get daily deliveries, but not if our postie is on holiday - that’s when it can be a bit hit and miss. Despite living 1/2 mile from the main sorting office.

BungleandGeorge · 25/07/2023 00:07

It’s now £1.10 for a first class letter, I’d be very annoyed if it wasn’t delivered for a week! I think in recent times they miss the odd day here

Ohmylovejune · 25/07/2023 00:08

I think so. We get occasional deliveries and then they are a mass drop.

My mates been on holiday and her office closed for 7 days. She normally gets back to her postbox full. This time nothing! Two days later a whole pile arrived including a bill and the follow up red letter for non payment! She mentioned the delay and the postie rolled his eyes and said good luck next week as I'm on two weeks holiday!

Twentynone21 · 25/07/2023 00:08

Surrey - have had once weekly delivery, if you’re lucky, for over 6 months, sometimes nothing for 2 weeks. People go to the sorting office to collect. The local MP and councillors are involved, no improvement. Staff shortage they say but then I heard they’d got rid of the temps.

CaptainMyCaptain · 25/07/2023 00:10

Daily deliveries.

justasoul · 25/07/2023 00:12

I don’t get much post but I can see the road from my work desk and see the postie every day here. Small (less than 1000 people) village in South Wales.

Northernsouloldies · 25/07/2023 00:15

N East Scottish City, infrequent and seem to be when junk mail is also delivered.

Anskl · 25/07/2023 00:17

Daily deliveries, East Midlands.

StefanosHill · 25/07/2023 00:18

Daily

Cryingbutstilltrying · 25/07/2023 00:21

The postman does his round daily but we get post maybe twice a week normally.
If he’s on holiday no one covers.
We’ve gone a full 2 weeks with no post before now, then it all hit at once.
We are quite rural so I don’t expect much tbh, but in central London it would annoy me, especially when waiting for appointments. I wish they would just email them.

SirVixofVixHall · 25/07/2023 00:22

Daily here, very rural.
Seems hardly any time since two deliveries a day.

LennyBalls · 25/07/2023 00:22

North London once a week if we are lucky. Still waiting for something that was posted a month ago.

Rookie93 · 25/07/2023 00:24

In Hertfordshire and we only get one or occassionally two deliveries a week. Usually nothing all week and then six or seven items in one hit. Waiting for hospital letters or returned documents is deeply frustrating.

UsingChangeofName · 25/07/2023 00:32

It's been like that for ages here. Years, certainly.

I don't really take much notice of when things arrive, tbh, as there is so little that comes in the post that is important, but we haven't had daily deliveries for years.

Never announced of course - probably not an official Royal Mail policy.

I mean, it could be a co-incidence we don't have any letters for 7 - 10 days and then get a small pile of them that all happen to arrive on the same day......

lillie23 · 25/07/2023 00:34

Ours is once a week sometimes longer. We received post yesterday with one letter dated 5th July. They are a joke.

2023issucky · 25/07/2023 00:40

I'm 2 weeks we were on holiday we came back to 3 letters!! We would normally have atleast 20, so think likely less deliveries than normal.

Fluffypiki · 25/07/2023 00:40

THANK YOU! I thought I was going mad! I told the husband and he said he hasn't noticed anything.

BoatsAndHoes · 25/07/2023 00:42

SgtPercyTwentyman · 24/07/2023 23:58

Berkshire here - near Reading - and we get daily deliveries.

Also near Reading but only getting weekly deliveries for months now!

mondaytosunday · 25/07/2023 00:42

Oh yes! I live in SW London and the record we've gone without mail is over three weeks! We have complained, written to whomever you are supposed to write to ... a concerted campaign by the street. It's pathetic. I was getting Christmas cards in February!
Someone posted a package first class to me over a week ago from within the country, checked the address with me before sending, and it still hasn't arrived.

elm26 · 25/07/2023 00:46

I'm in Surrey and we are lucky to get post once a fortnight. I received a letter on 21st dated 2nd July with a first class stamp on it...

DesperateHousewife2018 · 25/07/2023 00:53

We haven't had daily deliveries since before COVID. Parcels are still dealt with daily but letters are weekly, maybe less than weekly. Essex/Kent border.
