Is the Royal Mail where you live, only delivering once a week not daily?

Surely this can't only be happening - in my central London postcode. I am expecting an important doctors appointment in the Mail and I'm annoyed how infrequent they are delivering. Is it just my local or is it widespread?

Yep, same here. Virtually given up on RM except for basic unimportant/non urgent letters. Sending all our parcels, small packets, etc via Evri now.

Also buying as much as I can from Amazon rather than ebay or retailers' own websites so that I know it'll be Amazon delivering rather than Royal Mail.

I only had two RM parcels due to arrive here this week - RM managed to deliver both (different days) to the wrong address (different addresses), and I was in both times as it's an office, so I'm here 9-5 with a "shop front" office, so not only can I see people walking past, I have a direct view of my office door, so know for a fact that the postman didn't come to my door on either occasion to knock/ring the bell, and no card was left either.

They just seem to randomly abandon parcels/packets where they feel like it. I checked the tracking on both, and both were supposed to be tracked 48 with signature, but on both cases, the signature was the same, i.e. the postman himself, not the recipient, so paying for a signature is a waste of money!

I have no problems with Evri (sending nor receiving) and no problems with Amazon (receiving) either.

RM have completely lost the plot.

We lost our regular postman about 2 yrs ago , we now get deliveries twice a week and more often if other rounds are quiet and someone does overtime .

tinseltitss · 06/06/2025 15:32

I'm in Durham and we get the occasional post maybe twice a week but no more than that. Parcels are being delivered though as I see the Royal Mail vans out delivering those in our village, just not letters.

CeeJay81 · 06/06/2025 15:50

Fine here in rural Wales. Postie everyday I think.

I had a large hernia many years ago.was supposed to have a letter sent from the hospital.i arranged for Bupa because of constant pain..NHS hospital sent a letter, dated 9th february.it arrived on the 18th may.we should get leaflets by royal mail every month for f,foods.we actually get them twice a year if we are lucky.Amf the list goes on.

Alovleyjacket · 06/06/2025 20:38

Nottingham here, weekly at best - mass drop, very frustrating - we don't see post people any more

MerryPortas · 06/06/2025 20:40

Every day j central Scotland.

Oblomov23 · 06/06/2025 20:50

Daily in Surrey. My mum in West Sussex says every few days.

Gorde · 28/06/2025 14:19

I live in north Hull.i have 3 letters at least
I should have had 2 weeks ago.i ran eon the sent out new tariff 2weeks ago.not arrived.i waited for a cheque for three weeks 1st class to be signed for post took 5 weeks.just put through letterbox.
PATHETIC.the pony express delivery was better than that all deliveries done on horse back

NewGirlInTown · 28/06/2025 14:20

Yes. Post delivered only on a Saturday here, edge of a market town in the south.

Badbadbunny · 29/06/2025 14:01

Northern run down town here. No post at all during the past week, other than parcels. I run a business and get post daily normally, but it's started to arrive haphazardly of late, large bundle every 3/4 days, but last week was the first time we had none at all. Expecting quite a pile tomorrow or Tuesday. Royal Mail have really gone to the dogs. Not just batching, but they're also losing a lot at the moment, we've had more outgoing lost letters/parcels in the last few months than ever before. We've already moved over to Evri for small parcels/packets as it's costing too much time and money for the delays and losses.

ARichtGoodDram · 29/06/2025 14:03

We have daily deliveries, but I'm half sure that's because we have the primary school, a church and doctor's surgery in our street or the next one. So the postie always has a load of mail to dish out.

ShakespeareInTurmoil · 29/06/2025 14:19

Once a week or so in my part of Northampton. I’m largely paperless for most stuff so doesn’t bother me.

treacledan71 · 29/06/2025 14:29

My fault as i should have sent recorded or emailed it but i posted a card 5 weeks ago to a friend with a 10.00 costa voucher. Probably lives 30 miles away. Not got there yet. Either stolen or put in wrong letter box
