Anyone else got their heating on?

Bloody freezing in Hartlepool today! Heavy rain, highs of 11c!!! Massive puddles everywhere already!

Been to an outside event and even in my winter coat I've come back in properly cold. Even with a change of clothes, blanket and hot water bottle i was feeling chilly so ive given in and put the heating on but feel ridiculous considering it's meant to be high summer!

No, but I wore my Oodie last night. 🥶

Me too.

Absolutely not. Watching tv in a T-shirt

Is it actually cold where are you though?!

North west and it’s been raining solid for 48 hours and it’s cold and damp. Final resort to try and dry some washing.

NotAMug · 23/07/2023 21:04

I would never have heating on when its 11°, single figures and it would have to be really cold. Its over 20° here today so definitely no heating anyway.

SirChenjins · 23/07/2023 21:06

Single figures before you put your heating on? That sounds miserable.

Louloulouenna · 23/07/2023 21:10

Ours certainly doesn’t go on unless it’s around 10c or below but we do have a wood burner.

juneybean · 23/07/2023 21:15

Yep bit further north than you OP, but I had the heating on this morning.

SirChenjins · 23/07/2023 21:19

So you have heat from another source - you don’t sit in a cold house.

Louloulouenna · 23/07/2023 21:29

Well yes but we have a big house and that is on just one room.

SirChenjins · 23/07/2023 21:48

Why do you keep the rest of your house so cold at 10c before you put your heating on? Is it down to cost?

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 23/07/2023 21:55

No, it's 18 degrees here in the east midlands and definitely not cold!

Windows and doors all open all day tshirt and leggings no socks.

I'm just annoyed I've had to use the tumble dryer for the last two weeks!

I have central heating or nothing. No wood burners in a flat unfortunately.

Still awful out!

I swore I wouldn’t, but weakened when I got home from the cold rain to a chilly house this afternoon. I put it onto 19.5c. Took about 30/40 minutes to get there, then I turned it off again. Like you @QuestionableMouse I’m in the North East (Washington). I was so ‘not amused’ to have to do it!

Mindovermatter247 · 23/07/2023 22:29

I’m by the east coast and had all doors and windows open all day, it’s been intermittent sun but even if it wasn’t I’d never dream of putting the heating at this time of year….barely put it on in winter 😂

TheLathums · 23/07/2023 22:29

I think the southerners don't necessarily understand the northern point of view.
It's fucking miserable up here. We're wearing wellies, winter coats and our gardens are flooded. My dogs won't venture outside for a piss, let alone a walk. The last two weeks of school have been wet breaks and wet dinners. The children are miserable. It literally hasn't stopped raining for ages.
It's obviously not cold like December but everything is constantly soaking wet. We are fed up.
Putting the heating on for a couple of hours and drinking a large glass of port (like it's Christmas) is the only thing cheering us up!

RabbitsRock · 23/07/2023 22:31

Wet weather here in Cornwall but it’s really hot in between the showers & quite humid. I’m in bed with a fan on.

Yep! I had my winter stuff on today! With the wind and damp it's closer to 8 or 9c than the mid teens.

All the sneery posts are missing the point - it may be July but it's fucking cold!

Nope but I live in London! Weather was crappy yesterday but not cold enough for central heating. Today has been windy but intermittent sunshine (okay there was the odd bit of light rain) and highs if 21°C.

ObviouslyNameChanged99 · 24/07/2023 00:07

If you need your heating on then put it on. Just because I don't where I live doesn't mean it's the same for you.

Ladybirdbookworm · 24/07/2023 00:10

Not far from you and I put the heating on this morning.
The house felt so damp and chilly.

Oakbeam · 24/07/2023 01:17

A wood burner is heating.

SeatonCarew · 24/07/2023 05:55

I've had my 750w fan heater on several times in the last few days, it's damp, dark and chilly here.

CeriB82 · 24/07/2023 05:58

Absolutely not!

windows open here. Been out walking and hiking in the rain, totally bliss! Never keeps me indoors

Flidina · 24/07/2023 06:14

I'm just up the road from you OP, and your right it's bloody freezing, especially with all the rain, we've had the heating on intermittently the last couple of days, can't believe we've had to put it on in July!
