So the consensus on this thread from those loving this literal piss poor weather is you can moan when it's hot and dry and there's some sunshine but not when it's cold and wet for weeks on end. Hmm

I think so.

Exactly this. And when food costs more because a lot of the crops have turned to mush and we’re having to import more thereby contributing to global warming then that’s ok because hoovering.

Yep, that about sums it up.

You also forgot - I much prefer this wet, cold and miserable weather to 40°, because there's clearly no middle ground* Hmm

*Like 20° and dry

I will sweat at 25, and I won’t walk my dog in 25, it’s too hot.
Cold/cool is my ideal, rain is good for the garden/water butt, so I’m happy.

@DustyLee123

you would sweat at 25 degrees and wouldn’t walk your dog?!
I think you’re exaggerating!
also it’s ok to sweat you know! It’s not some terrible thing! How do you go on when you’re exercising?

12345change · 22/07/2023 11:32

Only on MN can people get into a barney over the weather 😂

Yup
all those banging on about how great all the rain is for plants etc seem to be forgetting that plants, crops, etc also seen sunlight in order to thrive

LlynTegid · 22/07/2023 11:34

Sunny weather will return either on the first day of the football season (mid-August) or about a day or two after schools return in September.

2021 it was the first day of the autumn term!

mumda · 22/07/2023 11:37

It rained on St Swithins day.

Brexile · 22/07/2023 11:38

Re the jet stream, it's a lovely day over here in an unfashionable corner of eastern France, but we're getting the rain next week. The weather here isn't generally very enviable (boiling hot or really cold depending on the season) but I don't miss the persistent greyness of the UK. DParents moved to the west midlands at the start of summer, and it's been overcast and misty in all the photos they've sent me so far!

PurpleButterflyWings · 22/07/2023 11:39

Firefin · 22/07/2023 11:27

Can't stand the weather right now. We have had a shitty, cold winter, followed by a shitty, cold spring and I was really looking forward to a nice, warm summer to stop thinking about putting the heating on for some time. I am sitting here in a thick, wooly cardigan with cold fingers and cold feet ffs.

But it's okay, the nicer weather seems to be approaching once the summer holidays are over and the kids have to be back in school...

Did you conveniently forget about the whole of June and most of May that was sunny/hot/beautiful/mostly dry? Confused

BarelyLiterate · 22/07/2023 11:40

Reading through these replies emphasises that attitudes to hot weather are one of the ways in which MN is completely unrepresentative of my real life experience. Nobody wants 35C+ all the time in the U.K., obviously, but most people I know love warm sunny weather & look forward to a good summer. Much of MN seems to hate it, though.

I wonder why this is? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh FFS get a grip. It's JULY, It's 15 degrees celcius, it's quite humid, the rain is stopping for a few hours now, and it's due to go up to 18 later today. It's not fucking snowing! Hmm

Did you conveniently forget that the whole of the UK does not have the same weather?

Exactly this. As I said though, these same moany whingers will be crying like toddlers when it's winter and saying 'oh roll on summer! I hate the winter!' when the temperature drops below 13 C.

Susuwatariandkodama · 22/07/2023 11:43

It’s rubbish, I’m so fed up of the rain, we had some sunshine for a couple of days and it was magical! It was only 19 degrees so it wasn’t hot but at least it was dry!
Today is just more rain and it’s so cold, absolutely sick of it and just want some heat, I’d be happy if it warmed up to 22/23 and we just had the odd shower here’d and there, instead it’s just been endless days of wind and rain :(

Maireas · 22/07/2023 11:44

No it wasn’t. You need to pay more attention to the whole weather map.

Rubbish. Most of the UK had decent weather in May and June.

Doesn't fit the narrative of the whingy moaners crying off about the weather to admit that though. These same curmudgeons on here moaning about the rain and how it's freeeeeezing, were probably whining about how it's toooooo hot, back in June! Wink

You do realise some people feel the cold more than others? It’s 14 degrees here and my feet are like ice cubes, its definitely thick socks and jumpers weather today

FuppingEll · 22/07/2023 11:46

I’m catching all of this lovely free water for my garden, in the water butt

I dont know what the point would be here when the garden never needs watering because of all the free water that is falling from the sky and watering it for me.

mumda · 22/07/2023 11:37

Yes. I'm the least superstitious person there is but this is one I really believe in and it seems to have some truth in it.

PurpleButterflyWings · 22/07/2023 11:46

I dont know why you are rolling your eyes? Surely it's the exact same as those saying they can't function as soon as the weather goes over 20. We all have different heat tolerances.

Objectrelations · 22/07/2023 11:48

Where are you rained on people.
I'm in the south west and July has been worse that May and June but not that bad. Certainly not constant rain!! The crappier weather has coincided with weekends though!!

Ihateslugs · 22/07/2023 11:49

SpeckledlyHen · 22/07/2023 09:12

I have to say I’m really enjoying this summer so far. Much nicer temperatures at low 20’s than the mid 30’s we had last year. I found that unbearable.

It’s been lower than 20° here in the NW, more like 16° most of the time! The new patio furniture I bought has hardly been used!
