Since when did this become a thing?

I’ve recently joined a local gym having spent a lot of my adult life trying to avoid the place. Don’t have much social media so didn’t realise the new “trend” is to wear scrunch bum shorts and sports bras

Honestly so many females wearing this in my gym. I felt like the odd one out wearing a black tshirt and some old black leggings.

Ive always done running so in okay shape but I felt out of place in what I was wearing having just started. Maybe I just need to pay less attention to others 😂

You've got a lot to say about the detail of the ruching, to the point where you're inventing obscene details it doesn't have and discussing them at length.

To be fair, you're not the only one. Wasn't ruching all the way down the arse crack enough for you people?

Yep, you got me / us. Bum scrunch leggings are completely unintended to accentuate the buttcheeks individually and the added ruching is a sweet feminine detail. Women wear them only ever for comfort and coverage.

It is our filthy minds and I’m ‘obscene.’ Just for the record - the word ‘obscene’ did not come from me. But otherwise - yes - I’m an awful bum obsessed pervert.

I hadn't heard of nor have ever seen 'scrunch bum' anything so WHAT a revelation those photos were!! 😂I'm now more than ever convinced that vast numbers of the female sex is slowly losing it's collective mind

Calm down. Clearly not enough numbers of the female sex (!) have lost their minds for you to have encountered this before you saw this thread.

Quite 'calm' thanks but I must apologise for using the word 'sex' instead of 'gender', don't know what I was thinking!!! 🙄The reason I haven't encountered this delectable, attractive and classy look before is that I am now so old and decrepit that I don't actually go out much and certainly not to the gym!! 😳However, I lived my teenage years in the 60's, enjoyed and wore many of the fashions of the 70's and 80's but NEVER in all that time could it be said (well maybe the punk and goth looks left a lot to be desired?!) that women so happily and willingly endeavoured to make themselves look so trashy and cheap and in many cases both unattractive and downright comical!! 😱

GarlicGrace · 24/07/2023 02:27

I dunno, @Cariadm, I recall a positive flood of comparable comments about 60s fashions. In place of faux concern about young women getting thrush from their bottom-enhancing leggings, we had wailing about our legs going blotchy with the cold, and dark warnings of getting a cold "down there" with kidney infections 😂 Plus, of course, all the shrieks about over-sexualising ourselves, "laying it out for all to see", having no dignity and - since PC hadn't yet been invented - "asking for it".

Different decades, same story. At the height of 1972 fashion, my favourite dress was completely transparent. You can imagine the concerned angst about that one. And the boys' fashion! "Can't tell the boys from the girls! Are there no real men these days? They can't all be pooftahs!"

🙄😂

Yes of course you're right, there has always been faults to find and critisisms to make about every fashion trend in every decade, but I just find the present penchant for what I would consider an oversexulised faux glamorous almost 'tarty' look in favour atm! It's similar to the sort of behaviour associated with 'anorexia' when underweight people see themselves as fat when they are unhealthily thin, in that it seems many don't realise or can't see that they have had their lips puffed up so much they look ridiculous, same with the eyebrows, false eyelashes, trowelled on make-up and almost everything else in the 'uniform' that has to be longer, bigger, shorter etc etc!!! I find it a both sad and worrying trend and we're in danger of reversing or even losing a lot of all the hard won ground and of being taken seriously as I can't help feeling that it's becoming a fake and shallow world...😢

No, you've got the cheeks fine. It's the obsession with the hole that's a product of a zillion outraged, disapproving, titillated imaginations.

Your use of "sex" was correct, it was just a bit odd sounding.

If you want to review your language, look to the nasty, misogynistic, sexualised insults. I don't know how anyone can find those less offensive than a silly passing clothing trend, but clearly lots of you do. How upstanding.

Annemaria · 24/07/2023 09:35

Sisters, behave yourselves. I don’t want to be accused of claiming rape victims are “asking for it “ because of the revealing clothes they wear, but I have had to stare out more than one man letching at women at checkouts, on the beach and in cars stopped at traffic lights. They instantly drop their eyes. Now tell me it’s all in my imagination.

I don't even know where to start with this. Every word is a klaxon.

You and your lovely male friend are well suited, I'll just say that. Kindly keep each other away from everyone else.

3BSHKATS · 24/07/2023 09:47

Let’s be honest, the last 10 years I would say walking around in activewear gym clothes has become a thing. And basically you’re pretty much naked arent you because there is nothing good or bad left to the imagination.

If that’s how you feel comfortable, good on ya. And I guess you have to deal with the leeches as you see fit

Annemaria · 24/07/2023 11:16

Well, DrSbaitso, I won’t dignify your nasty post with a comment

Re the use of the pronoun 'sex'... I guess I didn't make my sarcasm clear enough?! 🤔I don't actually want to 'review' my language either thanks...Guess you either didn't bother to really read my post or that you just didn't understand the nuances of it?! It really isn't the 'silly passing clothing trend' that bothers me so much as the general trend that it's part of as per what was highlighted in all my previous posts and frankly don't see the point of repeating!! 😏

If it helps, your sexist slurs and gleeful reports of "munching" haven't dignified anything.

Your posts are quite clear enough enough what matters. You'd never seen or heard of this trend, you learned about it second hand via this thread, decided women had lost their minds and then used lovely, evolved phrases like "trashy" and "cheap".

I don't know what you think there is to misunderstand, really.

Sorry but when I went to school 'trashy' and 'cheap' were words, not phrases? The sad fact that you don't know what I am referring to when I said you didn't 'understand' the nuances in my post says it all...really?! 🙄

Ok, they're words. If you think that's the issue here, we can add "irrelevant deflection" to the misogyny and sexism in your earlier posts.

Can't believe it's 2023 and people still think berating women for their clothes makes them virtuous.

Mugaloaf · 25/07/2023 06:33

Just wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.

I'm always completely out of touch with the fashion...

I think they're hideous. No jealousy here.
I'm more likely to be jealous of women looking good in vest tops and shorts.

Not this again, if you don't like this you must be jealous? Didn't that attitude get left behind in the playground?

sassyclassyandsmartassy · 25/07/2023 20:09

All I can say is 🤮🤢. They are bloody awful things that do nobody any favours and IG is at fault for promoting the absolute vomit inducing tread. It doesn’t matter how gorgeous the figures they are vile!

Michellelovesizzy · 26/07/2023 07:09

They wear this on the school run we’re I live feel out of place in my old legging with a whole in and my un brushed hair x
