What job do you loathe and wish someone could take away

I’m procrastinating - I have a HUGE sort out job ahead of me. Two young kids and I’ve been putting off the paperwork/ life admin for far too long and it’s all got on top of me. Half of it is DH’s but I’m on mat leave so using some of the time to tackle it head on before I go back to work.

I’m sure there would be people who don’t mind a clean out and bit of organising, but I hate doing it. Love the feeling after but dread the task ahead - hence the procrastination.

If you could hand off a job what would it be and why? Trying to make myself feel better that there are worse chores I could be doing

Putting the clean washing away!

Washing up. Absolutely despise it. Bought my house specifically because it had a dishwasher but sadly some things still need hand washing! I do procrastinate filing and putting the washing away as well because they don’t feel urgent but I don’t mind them once I’ve carved out the time.

Cooking. It just gives me the rage, I realise this is a ridiculous , overdramatic way to feel about something that is an everyday thing.

What needs hand washing?

Cleaning the chicken coop and vacuuming the inside of the car. Thankfully both are initiation tests for new volunteers so haven't done either for years 😂

Cleaning the oven

Those silicone oven liners are a godsend.

Mowing the lawn/doing the garden. I end up with a bad (well, worse) back, usually nettled, crawling in bugs and it looks just as unkempt in a week or two. The only thing I seem to be able to grow are weeds, ants and cat shit (and I dont even have a cat!) I spent a small fortune a few years ago to make it less high maintenance and its still too much for me!

Tiredjoanna · 17/07/2023 12:51

No the struugler it's not, I absolutely hate cooking, just so much effort and then a massive washing up job after. Doesn't feel worth it sometimes. I can cook but just don't like to. Lots of freezer food in my house 😂

Ifulikepinacoladas · 17/07/2023 12:53

Getting petrol. Would happily pay for someone to go and get it for me

Cast iron! Also some things that possibly could go in the dishwasher but would/might get damaged - some glasses we have that have embellishments on that would come off in the dishwasher, the good knives, and DH’s nonstick frying pan.

Jongleterre · 17/07/2023 13:02

Weeding.

Changing the bed. Despise it.

Working out what to have for tea/dinner

Cleaning the shower cubicle

Clearing up the kitchen. It’s just incessant after every bloody meal. All this talk of AI don’t let the robots do the fun jobs why is there no robot to clear up the kitchen 3 times a day?

We bought plates that don’t fit in our dishwasher and it gives me the rage every time I have to hand wash them! And my husbands knives, they are hand washed

Food shopping. I just haven't found delivery or click and collect decent with dates and quality.

Time40 · 17/07/2023 13:09

Cooking for me. I absolutely detest it.

A few people always say "getting petrol" on these threads. What's so awful about it? I'll get your petrol for all you petrol haters - I rather like doing it.
