What job do you loathe and wish someone could take away

I’m procrastinating - I have a HUGE sort out job ahead of me. Two young kids and I’ve been putting off the paperwork/ life admin for far too long and it’s all got on top of me. Half of it is DH’s but I’m on mat leave so using some of the time to tackle it head on before I go back to work.

I’m sure there would be people who don’t mind a clean out and bit of organising, but I hate doing it. Love the feeling after but dread the task ahead - hence the procrastination.

If you could hand off a job what would it be and why? Trying to make myself feel better that there are worse chores I could be doing

I can't choose 1. Definitely admin. I'm dyslexic so I hate all that stuff. Putting away washing, and drying it in bad weather.

bussteward · 17/07/2023 17:57

Cleaning the high chair tray only to have to get more food on it a couple of hours later then cleaning it again. Five times a day! Bastard!

leopardprintismyfavourite · 17/07/2023 18:09

Putting the washing away is a definite, I have a back problem so lugging it all upstairs and the basket being overflowing because DH did nine million loads of laundry and left it is pure hell. I try very hard to make it into something I enjoy by putting music on, but who am I kidding I bloody hate it. I would rather change the cat litter.

I also hate putting air in my tyres. I hate having to find the change. I hate trying to keep hold of the valve cap things. I hate feeling like I don’t know what I’m doing even when I do, and I REALLY hate when someone pulls up, waiting for me to finish.

I’d happily pay someone to do my tyres, put fuel in my car and take it to be cleaned.

Cooking dinner. Thinking of something to make, ordering it, actually making it, kids moaning about not liking it. I’m vegetarian, kids and DH aren’t. Kids are massively fussy but in different ways. Finding meals we can all eat is such a hassle and usually end up cooking separate meals and it is a pain.

Random789 · 17/07/2023 18:18

I'm another 'getting petrol' hater. Not sure why I hate it so much, since it is quite fun sticking a nozzle in things (Ooh matron!!) and squeezing levers.
I think it is just that I can't regard it as a task in its own right. I just think of it as something that gets in the way of completing other pressing tasks. So it makes me feel rushed and agitated.

Putting clean washing away is another of my hates. Actually cleaning things is fine, but putting them away afterwards smacks of admin and organisation, which are scary.

We bought plates that don’t fit in our dishwasher and it gives me the rage every time I have to hand wash them! And my husbands knives, they are hand washed

just in case this could be a solution for your plate conundrum @Maztek

p.s. not just Beko necessarily

Notellinganyone · 17/07/2023 18:29

@Stickybackplasticbear - my DH does it all. He loves it. In fact, if I occasionally go along he gets all jumpy be a it messes with his routine. I’m hugely grateful because I lose the will to live 5 minutes into any supermarket shop - even online.

This is an exact description of my family. Trying to find something everyone likes is a mare and there's only so many times you can eat tomatoey pasta in one week. I made jacket spuds tonight and have just told the rest of them to make and fill them with what they want from the cupboard/fridge. That's as much effort as I'm prepared to make these days.

Washing out the bin (as in the one outside)

I’ve literally never done this!
We once had maggots in it so it started then. I’d do it roughly once a month. 🤮

GetOurraMeWay · 17/07/2023 20:00

Grumpy fist bump to all my fellow cooking haters

Feeding the dogs

I hate this too. Hate the smell of the kibble, then they have chopped chicken on top and takes an age to get all the bits off the chicken thigh, all the time with two hounds circling me !

ColonelPuffPuffPuff · 17/07/2023 20:06

Hoovering the ruddy car! Always end up skinning my knuckles or breaking a nail….All the little nooks and crannies…Arrgghhhhh!

Cooking. It just gives me the rage, I realise this is a ridiculous , overdramatic way to feel about something that is an everyday thing.

I've never liked cooking !
It's something you can't avoid, but I wished I could

Who does this?!

Nomoreheroics · 17/07/2023 20:16

All housework

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 17/07/2023 20:23

Cleaning the shower

MsFannySqueers · 17/07/2023 20:48

My sympathy to you OP. I agree with many PP’s regarding their pet hates. Mine is cleaning the inside of windows. I have a window cleaner for the outside but the insides! Would cleaners do them? Not that I have a hope in hell of finding a cleaner where I live. Do them about twice a year couldn’t face anymore than that. I have started using a squeegee on the shower screen after every shower. A pain but I never need to clean the screen now.

Iamblossom · 17/07/2023 20:54

I hate cleaning, and changing beds...so I outsource that.

Same for ironing.

And I hate cooking so DH does 99% of it.

donutosaurus · 17/07/2023 21:00

Another vote for putting the clean washing away!! I hate it!

the80sweregreat · 18/07/2023 10:34

Most chores are just a pain tbh!

Stickybackplasticbear · 17/07/2023 13:09

Food shopping. I just haven't found delivery or click and collect decent with dates and quality.

This. I hate supermarkets with a passion, especially the ones that treat every customer like a potential shoplifter. Noisy places with glaring striplights, they take ages to get through, ages to find what you need and these days half the stuff you want isn’t there anyway.

If there was a guarantee that Click and Collect wouldn’t leave you with mouldy or bruised fruit and veg and random substitutions I’d go for it.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 18/07/2023 10:51

Ugh, I loathe cleaning the bathroom. Just detest it. Don't mind cooking, hoovering, decluttering, dusting, grocery shopping, filling up the car, taking out the bins, gardening, laundry...just don't make me clean the bloody bathroom!!

CoodleMoodle · 18/07/2023 10:51

Putting the washing away, definitely. I don't really like folding it but ill take it over putting it away. Especially hanging things up in wardrobes, ugh.

Or the first 15/20mins after we get home from school, where one or both of the kids are in foul moods - bring them to me when they've had a snack and have offloaded a little!

Heyhoherewegoagain · 18/07/2023 11:00

LaMaG · 17/07/2023 15:32

For me it's the constant thinking that drains me. I want a manager - someone to tell me what needs to be done so I just do it and my mind is at rest. I want to do my business in the toilet without mentally checking if it needs a clean, take a snack from the cupboard without thinking when I'm doing the next shop, eat a breakfast without thinking if I have time to throw on a wash.

All of this! Over the years I’ve sometimes been tempted to just stop and see if anyone notices but then my inner control freak won’t let me!
